Really enjoy your shows. I also get envious when I see the adds for the extravagantly stocked model shops. Modeling my little corner of the UK in Southwest Minnesota here in US means I have to rely heavily on mail order with the vagaries of shipping and exchange rates. So I particularly enjoy your previews of upcoming items and reviews of the same. Also enjoyed watching the landscaping and picked up a couple of tips!
Lovely to see a passenger train amongst all the goods trains!!
Some nice new trains!! I’m revamping my micro layout of Walmington-on-Sea to add DCC point motors for which I only need to operate four points and locomotive decoders so that everything is DCC.
These videos are fast becoming the best railway related content on UA-cam. Really enjoyable.
This is what I need to learn!! How to lay the layout track!! I haven’t laid out a layout in years!! In fact, the last time I actually laid out a model railway layout was way back in my childhood. I’m totally out of practice!!
Love the way you have twisted the static grass gives the impression of wind blowing over the grass. Overall your layout is looking quite good.
Really enjoying seeing the progress being made on Topley Dale. With a possible house move looming, presenting an opportunity for a larger layout, Topley Dale is giving me lots of ideas and inspiration, particularly the diversion route. It does mean I'll have to dismantle my current layout sadly which is almost 'finished' but all part and parcel I suppose. Keep the videos coming, very helpful and enjoyable. James
Thanks James!
Outstanding show guys and thank you.
So far, my attempts at railway modelling were based around the Lego Town Planning Board. I used to model the town in LEGO, and then lay the railway down. Sadly, the only space I had as a boy was my bedroom floor, and my town and model railway had to come up twice a week for the char to clean the room!!
The progress on Topley Dale is so great! I wasn’t expecting so much progress to be made. I can’t wait to see a bit of shunting their once everything is completed. Great video guys, love the longer content like this! Perfect to watch on a weekend.
Thanks, we'll have to get Mark in to shunt as he loves it
Great informative video.
Following the Quarry build with great interest. Has the build of the Quarry Buildings and Loading facility been shown, if so could you please send me a link.
Look forward to further videos.
x The Bigfella x
Absolutely fantastic episode Mike & Richard! Love the style and the how to guides. Always look forward to these monthly episodes. 👍
Great to hear Tase
What an amazing presentation.Ideal for "learners" like me!!.Lots of ideas for layout building and nicely presented.Well done.
Another great show, and now off to buy some of that fine foliage as that's the look I've been after :)
That static grass Technic is amazing! It really looks great!
I’m going to get a Faller Road System as a part of my next major project layout of Ongar Station and beyond a bit. The current stockyard is going to be the storage facility for trains that aren’t actually running.
Great video guys! Loved the section about making the quarry
Nice piece of work done by both of you. Staying until 2.00am show dedication to the hobby and the company. As usual, you make it look so easy. Martin. Thailand.
Thanks Martin, if you enjoy yourself its not work.
Nice to hear the quality of both steam and diesel sound chips!! I was asking while watching a previous film which sound chip would be best for my Hornby J94 models.
Great update guys! Love the progress you made on the quarry, makes me think I should expand my quarry!
Always worth a dabble
another fantastic video...mike makes it look very easy ..superb....love these uploads ...
Its a simple process, don't forget if you make a mistake you can simply redo it.
Great video thanks
What color paint did you spray the tracks with the Humbrol aerosol??
Cheers
Super schone vidio🎥🎥🎥👍👍👍🏫🏫🏫🌲🌳🌳👏👏👏🚅🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌🚌👍👍👍 Danke schon. Fim🚂👮✋
Very relaxing viewing ... thank you gents 🙏
Youre very welcome Nigel
Lovely layout is topley dale, stay safe guys
Thanks!
Great video Mike and Richard really informative video very helpful tips.keep well and safe.
Thanks Richard
Hi to you both,
Saw this and thought its a bit long but really glad I watched it as it was so interesting so thank you both for a great piece of entertainment, please keep safe and well and keep modeling.
Cheers Robert.
Thanks Robert, long videos can always be watched in stages to suit. Looking forward to your next stream.
@@hornbymag Hi Richard,
Cheers for the reply and yes I did watch it in stages but just shows how good it was that I came back a few times so again well done to you all. As for my next live stream with me building my new fiddle yard it could be a while yet but if you were willing to join me on SreamYard then it could be a lot sooner and just to make it even more fun we could have Allan from Dragon Junction mk2 on as well and see how fast we can get him laughing but do not worry will not hold my breath for the answer, please all of you there keep safe and well and giving us this great content.
Cheers Robert.
Really interesting video chaps. I hadn't seen the masking tape method before and will consider using this on my (hopefully) soon to be started loft layout. Thanks! Out of interest, what type of Humbrol spray paint did you use to weather the track?
Fantastic video just amazing look forward to the next one
Thanks John!
Great Video, outtakes were great :-)
Great video as always Mike, it’s given me that urge and I can feel another layout coming on! I had to cringe though when you started spray painting the track and trackside with all that beautiful 0 Gauge stock sitting uncovered underneath - hope any over spray didn’t find it’s way down there.
Hi guys, great show. How did you manage to keep Richard awake so late Mike? I bet you had a pizza Hiden under the layout! Lol. Topsy is really looking the biz now, got to be one of the best magazine layouts although I liked Bolsover too. Fingers crossed for Manchester, hope to see you both there, stay safe guys regards Bobby 'T'.
Loved the Top - Gear style intro, made me chuckle!
Thought we'd try it lol
@@hornbymag They would be proud!
(Especially James, we all know he is a modeller at heart!)
@@highbrookendmodelrailway who knows, he might appear one day.
It certainly improves things, I must say!! And just to make a bit of fun, Mind The Gap!!!!
Tonight.
I realize I missed a few videos and loose my mind at that quarry scene.
you use the OG Top gear intro words
and i drop my drink on my keyboarddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
A brilliant interesting video. More like this please
More every month Peter. :-)
Very enjoyable and informative video. Great stuff lads.
Thanks Terry
Hugely enjoyable video Mike & Richard.. Well done.. Thats the way to do it... PS . I thought beetles had long spindly legs !
Thanks Martin haha
Great video Richard and Mike much enjoyed watching it. Just a quick question for you guy's is topley dale track curves are they set track or flexi.
Another Great inspirational video, there is just one thing I ask of the team as an ex signalman and that's please replace that GWR station starter signal with a LMS/BR semophore and one that reflects the track layout, please don't take this as a criticism as I think your doing a Great job to which I'm learning a lot from it, thank you team.
Hi Paul, its on that endless list of jobs haha
Fantastic video as ever guys, really interesting techniques and quarry scene detailing and definitely wouldn't have thought of using masking tape to build up the hillside, something I'll have to try in the future. Keep up the good work and stay safe
James
Thanks James!
Great video lads very entertaining and informative
Thanks Ian
Great video. I hope there's adequate clearance on the new road bridge for Richard's HSTs to pass under it, as it seems rather tight on those mk1s.
Luckily its not finished yet however I'll be sure to make sure they fit!
Great scenery tips there, what brand are the stone walls on the left side of the road bridge please?
What are the GWR coaches behind the Bachmann 94xx pannier at 26.26 ?
I enjoyed that lads thankyou
You're very welcome!
Amazing video as always guys loved it!
Thanks Michelle, we need to get your radio show on while we model!
Great video, looking forward to the next edition. The product reviews are most interesting, I only wish that Hornby would re-issue the Streamlined West Country / Battle of Britain class again in the detailed brand rather than Railroad. My only concern with this episode is that the appropriate PPE was not worn when using the Dremel Disc cutter.
Keep safe and keep up the excellent work.
Thanks David!
Thank you, I'm really enjoying your video series. Good to see you engaging with your readers in this way.
You're very welcome Nigel
Great Video, I really enjoyed watching. Mike can I ask how wide is you O gauge layout?I'm
Its 16x10
Is there a Web site for this please
Great video, what colour Humbrol spray paint did you use
Really enjoyed this. Can I please make a wee request though - can you fade the music down whilst you guys are talking as its sometimes difficult to hear what you are saying. Thanks for your hard work.
Will do, thanks for the feedback
when I did my rocks I put a little bit of poster paint into the mix.
This colours the plaster and if it gets chipped you dont have a white spot staring at you all the time.
Top tip james
I must invest in a mini cutter either from dremel or proxon tools such a useful tool to cut track and other items, those small weights look handy as well
They're very useful
@Baz Bazdad I have actually been looking at the mini cutter made by a company called Proxon they tend to specialise in small tools for the hobby sector and are sold through reputable companies like Axmister tools.
Well this is my evening sorted! :
Woop woop
Mini Richard vs T. rex, who will win? Find out in the next edition of the Hornby magazine show! 🤣😂
why dont we had shops like that in denmark with hornby and other
im lookin at a train to put on the back of a 1.50 scale trailer is it best 00 gauge or 0 gauge
Can you tell me please which Humbrol spray acrylic colour you used for the track weathering? Regards
Matt

Where can I get a good model Railway from
I do believe the class 17 was nicknamed the crocodile 🐊back in the day { 70s } correct me if I'm wrong . well done with the layout guys looking good.
Thanks Tony and yes you're right! 🐊
Is Revolution Trains part of the Accurascale group of companies? They seem to be producing N gauge models of things that Accurascale make in OO gauge... and there’s an Irish company making Irish locos as well that also appear to be in the same group of companies.
I hate getting emails from Accurascale. They keep sending me details about locos and wagons and coaches that I didn’t know I wanted, and suddenly all the money I didn’t spend on beer because of COVID-19 is being spent at Accurascale! £1,200 of pre-orders so far, and we haven’t seen the Boxing Day offers yet, but they are fantastic quality models.
wonderfull
Surely, everything cannot be exciting. Nevertheless an outstanding video.
Thanks Stephen!
How to scenics nice one 👌
Inspired by a recent visit ;-)
Top Gear's gonna sue you for that intro 😂
Worked quite well i thought haha
Gosh i think i would wear a face mask and safety glasses when using spray paint at work.
Great video, but I reckon you need to work on distancing between you (for your safety)?
Interesting content, but I wonder why you always refer to gauge, which is after all the distance between the rails, even when talking about buildings and other scenic items, surely you should be talking “scale” 🤠
The intro music makes me feel I am aboput to watch a 1980s cop movie.
Ha its great!
Is the "j" silent in Heljan, as in Helyan? I've heard it pronounced both ways so I'm not sure.
We say both but it's pronounced 'Hel-yan'
@@hornbymag Thank you!
Who's Dale and whose Topsley ?. 😅 Why not real rock and plants ala Alpine. Plants will survive iff rock can be fed with water drip feed. Reservoir , small pond on rock top or water tower. And scented plants !. Your layout looks great. Delta diesel sounds cool man. Regards and thanks. Dave
Great vid, but please wear a mask when spray painting (loads about these days)....
Top tip
Need a respirator, surgical mask is to stop things leaving your mouth/nose, they are much less effective at stopping things getting in.
Hi all hope every one is well
Hi Jason, all good here ta
Great show and very informative. Minor moan - the sound levels - could hardly hear you speaking to the camera. Music blasted out though.
Hi Rodger, May I ask what you were watching on?
Hi Guys, good content and video but, playing music while you talking is very distracting!
Its amazing what the music hides.
Can you make your content accessible by formatting the auto captioning into closed captioning? It is extremely hard to enjoy your content having to keep concentration on the auto captioning and not be able to see your content properly sadly.
Should always have some eyewear when using the dremmel. Safety first!
Top tip Peter
As someone with hearing problems, I really, really hate the DISHUM DISHUM 'music' that you put on these videos. It has nothing to do with the content, is entirely inappropriate, and, for me personally, is acutely painful with my normal sound settings. I do want to watch these videos, as much of the content is very interesting to me. But it's hard to persist in face of the aural pain imposed (to say nothing of the something like 50 ads per video that UA-cam often makes me suffer through (not your ads for model shops - I'm fine with those)). Oddly enough, this episode did not come to me with lots of UA-cam ads - I don't understand how this works, as other, more recent episodes, have come to me with 2 UA-cam ads inserted every 2 minutes.
Mike not in the calendar!!.... Boo Hiss
Mabey next time haha
