My short touch on it shortly after this recording was taken was enough to convince me that there is no way that I could ring a peal on it now. My peal on it in 1996 was with a strapper. I will never get a single handed peal on it!
I think they are way to heavy, to ring a penal on. I think the tragic thing about Liverpool I the tower is an accoustic disaster. Wild cost a lot of money to rectify it I think. A false ceiling above great George may help but some accoustic insulation. My dad knew Peter Border the first person to turn the tenor in single handed to surprise max, apparently at the end of the peal he couldn't set the tenor as he was too knackered.
