I finally put together the footage from my 2 x Apeman cameras, which I filmed on the Salisbury DGR 2024. Me and the amazing 'Flying Turd' (Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Supernova Brown) join 176 fellow Bikers ride from Compton Abbas Airfield to Wilton House via Salisbury City Centre. Many thanks to Catherine Piper for tipping me off where to get some cheesy royalty free music to accompany the video....

Wedding ringing on the bell at Marchwood, Hants
Переглядів 181Рік тому
I had been asked to ring for a Wedding on the single bell at Matchwood. The bell (5 cwt, Cast by Thomas Mears 1843) is hung for swing chiming. The Bride & Groom has specifically requested the the bell was rung 'Joyfully', so I decided to swing it high enough for it to 'double clapper' striking on both sides of the bell. Unfortunately the bell turned out to be as odd struck as old boots. What's ...

Rule of six indoors SD 480p
Переглядів 1473 роки тому
With the new Rule of Six Indoors, we are not only able to ring again but with six ringers/bells. With a Wedding to ring for 5 days after the rule of six came into force we had a tied practice with the simulator the evening before the Wedding as after so many months practice was in need. This is the first video I have uploaded after using my macbook air to edit. There's a lot to learn with iMovi...
Eling Covid Christmas 2020

Well, it hasn't been a good year for much, and that includes Bellringing. However, we are still keen and looking forward to life returning to normal in 2021. Here's a bit of our ringing for the Christmas Eve Carol service at Eling, Hants. The first time we have rung 6 bells since March.
St Mary the Virgin, Eling. Post Covid Lockdown Ringing
Переглядів 7104 роки тому
This is the first occasion that the bells had been ring since the middle of March. The band of four today consists of two of our ‘Ringing Remembers’ recruits Ian & Vanessa, and post ringing remembers recruit David & myself. The decision to ring these five bells (1,2,4,6 & 8) was for their musical sound, and because they were appropriately socially distanced. Considering the severe lack of pract...

Can't remember the method ringing at York Minster now.
Fantastic bells and Yorkshire seems spoilt for top quality bells and especially 8s. Howden are brilliant as are Tadcaster and also Skipton which wasnt in the video. Of course absolutely NOTHING beats Yorkminster for harmonic sound.
Great bells and absolutely well struck ringing, I enjoyed every minute of it.
I had a second hand one in 1968, and what a tool it was, outran all others. My greatest achievement on it was to be presented with a speeding ticket, on a level road, of 61 mph in a 50 mph limit. I raced karts at the time and knew a bit about porting and filling crankcases(stuffing) and building expansion chambers
cast by john taylor trebles pack and chapman bells 3 4 6 and 7 thomas mears bell 5 mears and stainbank tenor 11-3-4cwts
An odd sight to see the ringer of the 5th ringing at a tower he has undoubtedly already grabbed 😁
A nice video memory of your ride and congratulations on raising such a considerable sum. 😊
i would have liked to have heard the bike noise more than the music
Pilton that's near to my place Braunton.
Some lovely rings, Richmond seems a little quiet though !
Cracking weather.
Everyone seems so calm and focused that you cant tell if they are happy or sad.
I have rung at Helmsley and Ripon Cathedral
Brllringing 😉
ripon are taylors eayre and smith the rest john taylor plus a flat 6th in 2007 2008 and 1932 tenor 23-0-24cwts
darlington are gillett and johnson richmond are newer in 2016
helmsley are taylors tenor 15-0-0cwts in 1987 except the 7th in 1905 carlton in cleveland are also taylors as well as stockton on tees hung on 2 levels
8:07 It's Basil Fawlty!
Gosh they are old arn't they
the guild of devonshire ringers mini one two ringers I know only on the internet are Ian Campbell and Ian Avery tower captains at Kingsteignton and Heavitree Lovely bells there at both towers
The wife is reading “A Single Thread” where the bells and bell ringer from this church are mentioned. Neat to hear them.
I think Heene are possibly the worst 8 I have rung on (and I have rung at Bagshot...)
What did you think of dorking in terms of handling?
Hope you enjoyed leatherhead :) i ring there every Tuesday pre covid
That's grandios ;D
The flat 8th doesn't seem very big for it to be the 8th or am i mistaken...
How much did it all cost
It was almost 40 years ago, but I seem to remember that the original set of 14 was not much more than £10!
So wonderful to se this bells sounds!!!🙏🙏🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
All very impressive! I’m designing my own at the moment. How did you get them all in tune?
They are selected in tune. Tuning a flower pot is difficult, but if you are careful you can lower the note slightly by grinding inside with an electric drill with a sanding attachment.
Steve Hough Oh righe thanks. I bought some that were relatively in tune for a mini ring but couldn’t tune them and they were going all out of tune. Now looking to buy some cheap hand bells if i can find
Dorking are Gorgeous
What’s the point in a bent stay? I doubt it’s any better if it’s a straight stay
Its because it affects the set of the bell as its only on one side of the headstock if it were straight one stroke would be very light set and the other would be very deep set
Did you hit the dumbbell as you walked past?
Wow brings the memories flooding back Steve ! I had one of the first Monza mopeds brought into the country in April 72 , had the stupid pedals for the new law , that sound is just so unique to the Garelli , looked very similar to yours apart from mine had a red tank and exposed spring rear shocks , headlamp was not round and no drop bars , used to fly for a 50 and eat all the other mopeds ! thank you so much for sharing and taking me back ! :o)
Interesting to hear them at a faster pace than normal
I'm pleased that you consider STAGS "a seemless match"....
They certainly are! I have only rung there 3 times and they never fail to impress me.
At Cobham we had two new recruits
Excellent! I hope you keep them!! Our five seem more enthusiastic than many recruits that have passed through my hands over the years. I'm feeling really positive about them :-)
Im one of them I learnt to ring back in march and we have another one who started in August. I hope your ringers carry on ringing!
@@fredmills368 Splendid! Keep us the good work :-)
Thanks :-D
That was the date of my birthday
I really enjoyed watching that.
Excellent! my mini ring is no were near as good as this.
My short touch on it shortly after this recording was taken was enough to convince me that there is no way that I could ring a peal on it now. My peal on it in 1996 was with a strapper. I will never get a single handed peal on it!
I think they are way to heavy, to ring a penal on. I think the tragic thing about Liverpool I the tower is an accoustic disaster. Wild cost a lot of money to rectify it I think. A false ceiling above great George may help but some accoustic insulation. My dad knew Peter Border the first person to turn the tenor in single handed to surprise max, apparently at the end of the peal he couldn't set the tenor as he was too knackered.
I feel better about my mini bells now tuning 1b, 3, 7, 8, 10, 12b of a ring of 12 in B (update 25/03/19 - tuning 1, 2#, 3-6 of a 6 in Eb and 1,2,4,6 of a 6 in B Edit 2022 - and now a proper mini-ring in tune in F#. It's good to have imagination!! 😁
Nice job there Steve. Looking forward to part 2.
What an excellent mural on the ceiling of the first tower ringing Chamber.
Most unusual isn't it? Someone's really got talent... it must have taken several months to do!
3 BELLS
I cant believe Warmister are Warner and Rudhall!!
Watching Matt's excellent footage at 20:20 of the ride from Quatt to Upper Arley, there was a lot of great positioning on the road. Just as it should be done :-)
Did I miss it or did you omit "Quatt" from the text at 18:13?
If I navigated my bike on the road as badly as I navigated my bell at 15:33 I'd be in the hedge. :-(
I have now rung at Angmering, Goring, Storrington and Findon
Love the bells at New College!
