Visiting ABANDONED Island VILLAGE & Chasing FISH | Sea-Doo Family Adventure

Spring is BARELY here weather wise... it's been cold and windy for months, and seems like unending when looking at the forecast. We saw a break in the weather for a day and HAD to get out on the water. Chasing schools of Big Drum 25miles from where launched, then scouting an abandoned Island that is home to the famous old town of Portsmouth, and finally capping it off with landing a nice Red Drum for my daughter. it was a long 25miles back to the dock, and not a warm one, but what an adventure!

I used to stay in Ocracoke with my grandfather back in the 60s. He had a friend named Lum Gaskell and I believe that Lum delivered mail and groceries to 2 sisters that still lived on Portsmouth Island. As kids we dreamed of living on Portsmouth Island and spend our days fishing and surfing.

I have been fishing on Portsmouth Island since the mid 90s. Back in the day you would not see a vehicle for several days. Lots of fish and miles of shells!!
