my video isn't showing in the composition it's just a black screen when I hit play. Do you what's causing this issue? my layer is also grayed out.

Is it possible to draw a mask and track it? Then blur the background and keep the mask in focus?

Thank you so sooo much. I already went through doing the frame by frame mask. But no more!

Great tutorial. I followed along with my own composition but when I add the blur to the bottom one and keeping the roto only on top, the blur is blurring my roto as well. What am I missing?

Hmm, try hiding the top and bottom layer and seeing what is exposed with each layer! See if the top layer is actually the cut out rotoscope, and the other is just blurry. (Also make sure the order is correct. That is essential for this effect. Rotoscope'd footage must be on top.

Superb tutorial!!! I have a project (billboard replacement) that I will need this technique for. By the way, I will also be using Mocha Pro 2019. I do have an interesting question for you (this may not be possible - however, if it is possible, it may require Key Frames to do it). Is it possible to _slowly_ pull the background out of focus and, at the same time, have the foreground object pull into focus (I hope that make sense). If it can not be done, it's ok. In any event, I still found your tutorial excellent. I pressed the "Like" button. Plus, you now have a new subscriber.

Thanks for the kind words. Actually, I think that would be decently simple to pull off. Once you have the mask created, you now have control over the foreground and the background. Yes keyframes would be needed here. Just take the blur in the background and move it from 0 up to say 6. Then take the foreground layer and have it start at 6 and over the same time interval adjust down to 0. This will make it so the blur changes. Some more touch up may be needed, but that's the general idea! :D

Thank you so very much. I kind of knew Key Frames would be involved. But since I am a neophyte in AE (been using AE since CS5.5, but no where near the talents of the experts). I will learn and experiment with what you indicated. Again, thank you.
