    Ry, I did the VK56 swap in my Pathfinder 3 years ago. In that time, the fusible link on the battery has popped twice.
    Thanks to your instruction about putting the battery cable correctly on the positive terminal, I realized mine is not correct.
    Thank you for the advice from Brennan! I'm going to route it correctly tomorrow.

      @gsbadd8240 do you know any differences between doing the swap on the pathy vs the xterra? I’m looking to do the swap in my r51. Wondering how it went for you. Also what year is your pathfinder?

    • @gsbadd8240
      @gsbadd8240 11 місяців тому +1

      @PYROtheNomad My Pathfinder is an '05 2wd. I used engine, trans, and ecm from a 2010 Titan.
      Whether the VK56 swap is being done on the Xterra, Frontier, or Pathfinder, it's practically the same job.
      There are some things about this swap that everyone will encounter, and the answers are easy to find/ figure out. There are some issues that you will encounter that might not have easy answers.
      The best thing I learned is to get the VK engine, trans, and ecm from the same donor. I didn't get a donor Titan. I bought parts individually from a salvage yard. I ended up getting a transmission that had a tcm that wasn't compatible with the ecm.

    • @gsbadd8240
      @gsbadd8240 11 місяців тому

      @Rythecarguy I used the oem cooling parts for the factory V8 Pathfinder.
      The original electric fan on my '05 was mounted inside the engine bay, between the radiator and the engine.
      The V8 Pathy has the electric fan on the outside, between the condenser and the grill.
      I drilled holes in the radiator support where the fan mounts go to make the V8 fan fit. My '05 radiator support didn't have the proper mounting locations.
      I had to slightly modify the electrical connector housing to make the V8 fan plug fit my original fan harness.

      @PYROtheNomad 11 місяців тому

      @@gsbadd8240 ok mine is also an 05 2wd. I’m hopefully going to pull the engine and trans from the same Titan so hopefully I won’t have that problem.

    Question about the VK
    I had the starter replaced on my QX56. Since then I have a rich exhaust / fuel smell. I can't find anything obvious out of place. The hoses appear to be attached, no MIL light or codes. Is there something I should be looking for?

    Ry - at 19:03 you make your connection there to a T that's going into the heater core. Where did you get that T? The part I'm finding is a pipe that goes along the firewall.

    You’re making it look so easy. The most complicated thing I’ve done is drop the subframe in my pathfinder and put it back. I can’t tell if this is actually really hard or just tedious.

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  11 місяців тому

      It's mostly tedious. You need to be methodical, and patient. Has far a "hard" I would say some of the removal can be hard if you're working with rust.

      It is possible to replace the engine with an R35 engine, with the possibility that it would not be surprising if it is able to deal with and cross rugged places such as the desert and mountains in the most difficult terrain. There were successful experiments with this mighty R35 engine on the Nissan Patrol Y61, and the result was a shock they did not expect, even in the highest sand dunes. It's like a speedboat cutting through the desert sand

    Hello, Ryan. Had a question, but it’s not related to this video. I am unable to remove the plug for the camshaft positioning sensor, Bank one. Do you think I could damage anything by hitting it with PB blaster? Is there a tool you are familiar with that will allow me to reach down in there and help remove it? The sucker is on, very frustrating. I am pressing the clipping while trying to pull and it’s not moving. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! That's the plan! I am swapping the suspension from the 8 ball to my OG Xterra. That one I am bringing back to stock. It’s the 2WD 6speed. That is going to be my daily driver with the best gas mileage. The 8ball is getting the ADO Broverlands and ADO upper control arm from the OG Xterra and radflos all the way around. The rads should give me 2 inches in the front and the broverlands will give me the 2 in the rear. Then the ADO fronts from the OG Xterra will likely make it to my NEW project that I have not announced yet ;)
