Good perseverance, relate to those days, when through no fault of your own, the hook pulls and it’s a disappointing session. The other ones when you are just plain lucky, go to backcast, hook the fish of the day. Solid fish.
Hey man, just got in to fly fishing and reaching out all the way from Colorado. Love the content you are making and im learning so much. Very inspired by you, your philosophy, an general artistic approach to the sport. Hope to be half the angler you are homie
another cracking video really like the way you show what its really like with the losing and missing fish when other channels only show you when it goes right,,, 😎🎣🎣
Currently living my trout fishing vicariously through you mate, I live in the Hawkes Bay and my main river of choice to fish hasn't cleared for nearly 12 months. Unheard of!!!! So thanks for keeping me sane with your inspiring footage and your respect for all you catch.
Mate loved it always good vibes on a new river shame it was up a bit as it makes it harder to get a good drift and get down to them. At least it was clean not like the HB rivers. Keep them coming
Alex!! Love the channel bro! Looks like your still living life’s big adventures! It’s been awhile since we fished the Hinemaiaia mouth after a big day in the sky! Be great to catch up again one day! Keep up the awesome work!
@@TrippinOnTrout Will do, I I've in Hawkes Bay now so just a stones throw away! Getting the line wet every now and then, but aiming to do a few back country trips soon or check out some of the old haunts.
Very wise streamer set up. Floating line with a sink tip at the end. That indeed makes managing and meniding the line a lot easier, while at the same time letting your streamer go where you want. One question: did you put some lead bullets on your line to sink the streamer better, especially in the faster running parts of the river?
Yep, it actually signifies what I’m calling the trout of my life (unfortunately I can’t make a video here on yt about it as I’m not allowed to use the footage here)
@@TrippinOnTrout well thats b/s are you coming to the trout fest organised by the canterbury fly club and north canterbury fg if s o would like to meet with you
Another top video mate 🤓 So a question….. I thought it was just me but you seem to have the same issue, when throwing streamers we get a lot of solid takes & a lot of get offs, wondering what’s your theory on this mate ?
I use that NZ indicator a lot,but the tubing is pretty narrow for the amount of wool you use. Like you I tease out the wool but it always looks naff What's the secret apart from teasing it out?
Thanks Alex and Dave,
Great fish beautiful water, you have to show us a close up of the new tattoo.
Cheers Mike
New Tat on the back of your right hand . Nice!👍
Taking one for the team. Well done Dave. Great guest
'Tag ends in the hip pack' ...good man 👍great habit for us all...thanks for sharing a great video from your beautiful rivers and countryside
Three beauties, more eats, and lots of great exploring. A day we’d all love to have!

Dave went full stretch to land your fish. You’re working him too hard we could have lost him😂. Another awesome video mate. Stunning fish well done
That was a good watch. Just four more weeks and I'm there! Nice new ink too bro!

Thanks for the msg bro. Much appreciated and stoked you dig the channel💪
Another great video - the streamer is growing on me! New tattoo - was that finishing the original plan or a great add on?
It’s an add on and I think I’ll do a bit more to it too..🔥
ended up a good day, but it's always a good day with a good mate, first time we have seen the new tat Alex, looks good.
Great fishing ! :)
Gorgeous fish! Love it. Looks like a ton of fun!

is there a story or significance to the new art or just personal satisfaction

mate that was a great fish on the streamer
Yeah was a beauty aye
Jobbus dunnus wellus!
Thankus you-us💪
Thoughts on the trout express? I've got the chance to toss mine around a few times, VERY happy, still figuring it out a bit tho!
It's amazing how aggressively they chase those big steamers, wonder if it is territorial behaviour or just for a good serving of sashimi ?
Another top video mate 🤓
So a question…..
I thought it was just me but you seem to have the same issue, when throwing streamers we get a lot of solid takes & a lot of get offs, wondering what’s your theory on this mate ?
I think that’s just how it is mate. Just a bit hit and miss with whether the fish swipes at it or gets it proper good or not🤷♂️
@@TrippinOnTrout yeah fair enough mate, I think that’s the case, super fun fishing. Cheers

Make sure you use the extra large tubing for the bigger indicators
“Yup, here we go” didn’t know you spoke Canadian, good on ya’ mate.😊
Another great video Alex. What model Hip pack is that? Like the integrated tippet spool holder.
