Wool dryer balls help lower your energy bill by making laundry more efficient. They’re also a quick, practical knit and are a great use for leftover wool.
These balls are worked flat in Garter Stitch with the yarn held double and sewn closed, cinched at the first and last rows. Simple shaping at the bottom and top of the project makes a smoothly spherical shape. Selvage edges make for easy sewing. They are completed by felting, making a perfect addition to laundry day.

Any other ideas for stuffing material if roving is not currently an option?

You would need to use any animal fiber that will felt inside and to the ball itself, so not anything marked Superwash. I've used left over 100% wool or alpaca yarn as a stuffing with great results. I hope that helps.

Another dryer ball video said to use aluminum foil in the center covered with wool.
