One point not gotten into in the planning of board 4 is the importance of ruffing at trick one rather than winning the ace of hearts. It's certainly not something obvious to the average player, but if you win the ace of hearts and start drawing trumps, you're actually in a bit of trouble as now you can be forced before you even get a crack at diamonds.

You were right; a few people doubled on #8. And also some others overcalled 1S which looks a better choice than double (but still not as good as pass).
Anyway, none of us were going to win this week. "snake21284" topped the charts with a stonking 91% so fair play to him/her.

An interesting line on #4 is the dummy reversal. Ruff heart lead. Play A of trumps and a trump to the K.
    1) Let's suppose trumps are 3-2, so there is one trump outstanding. Ruff another heart. Club to the Queen. Ruff the last small heart. Play clubs. If clubs are 3-3, we get an overtrick. If they are not, a) they cannot ruff the 4th club so we still get an overtrick, b) they ruff in, but then they open diamonds for us, which gives us our 10th trick no matter which side they open diamonds from, c) they ruff in and play a heart to our Ace, so then we play A of diamonds and another diamond and hope to land a second diamond trick.
    2) Let's suppose trumps are 4-1 as it happened at my table. I went on in a similar way: Ruff a second heart. Club to the Queen. Ace of Hearts. Ruff the last heart (that eliminated hearts from the East hand. Play clubs. Clubs were 3-3. On the 4th club, I discarded a diamond as East ruffed in. They cashed my last trump and then exited with a SMALL diamond from Kx. Sneaky! I fell for it and played low, so I missed the overtrick.

Interesting set of hands. Generally I did well, but board 7 went badly because I didn't go to game. On that board, I didn't see a way to make game if LHO had the heart K and partner had only 3 trumps (both were likely I thought). In that situation, you can't establish hearts, and RHO may overruff any hearts you try to ruff. So I didn't see a lot of trick potential in the heart suit.
Now it turned out that partner had a very good hand and none of my expectations came true. Game made easily. I'm probably wrong not going to game (everybody else does), but on the other hand, I still can't see what I missed in my considerations.

I thought there were going to be decent opportunities for end plays.

@@BridgeWithPete That sounds logical. Didn't think of that. Thanks!

Didn't expect you to open 2C! I opened 1D, got spade interface, launched to 6C, and was aghast when my CHO didn't correct to 6D. Grrr...

I didn't expect myself to open 2C but I thought that might be the easiest path to set a suit and get a cue bid. I was wrong still couldn't cue bid.

Did you mean 'guess' or 'tell' (i.e. guess correctly)?
Even someone who has never seen bridge played can make a guess.
