When Mayim came onto this show, I was really happy cuz I remember Blossom.growing up so it was great seeing her again.
I love how they evolved her character beyond just being a female Sheldon. The addition of Amy and Bernadette definitely added to the substance of the show by providing a lot more avenues for character comedy and situational comedy.
Mayim was amazing in this show.
Love the fact the Sheldon is trying to stretch to give Amy what she needs while at the same time he's remaining true to who he is (and Amy is completely understanding and fine with that).
That's the romantic part.. Finding a new authentic way to connect to someone.. So many people miss that..
Ahhhh if only it happened IRL this way...patience, love, acceptance, tolerance....she loves him so much she sacrifices some pretty strong urges for him and he sees she's wants more and in spite of making himself slightly uncomfortable he does it to appease her.....again.....if only in real life it happened...

What I love is that when Amy says keep rolling...Sheldon does! There are certainly no 'do overs' in D&D, but Sheldon is willing to keep going until Amy gets what she wants...at least virtually. Mayhim is fantastic in this scene. There are so many emotions and they all come through in her voice and expressions. She goes from comical to serious so well, especially within the context of the show.

Amy and Sheldon as a couple prove that there's more to a relationship than to go on a few dates, lust over one another and have sex and that it goes on as a roller coaster from there. Sheldon has the interest for Amy but he wants to gain all the trust he can ever have that he never could have had with anyone else. It may seem like it's foolish but with the way Sheldon is going at it resembles that they have some long term commitment and to simply rush it is going to blow a lot of the three years worth of trust and them being together until the time really is right. Sheldon has a hard time to show the affection but you can tell it's there when he's with Amy because she proves to him that she can have just as much potential as he sees it with her while other people can't handle his quirks and actions. Why blow it off so suddenly just because other people are fast with their relationships and often times it gets screwed up (pun intended)? I simply adore them.
I agree! No one invests 3 years of their life in a relationship unless their in it for the long haul! I want to see the episode where Sheldon's idetic memory serves him well in thanking Howard and Raj for putting his info on the dating website that spewed out Amy as his match...
Agreed! Because even nowadays, relationships have a whole meaning unlike before in the past (just by looking into it through research). It's so easy nowadays for a relationship to fall apart by even the slightest thing, or for the bond and the trust to fall apart. It's best to let it be built on a stronger foundation before getting to that level. Love is rare and precious...
May I point out that Sheldon shows signs of what looks like aspereger syndrome, so in his case (and Amy's 'cause she's deffinitelly a brainiac and it is just so that more intelligent people are not driven that much by their biology) it can work. But I don't really think it would work for just any normal couple. Just sayin'

I really love this, I mean the game was funny, but when Sheldon says their relationship is really intimate totally got me. It is awesome to witness how they grow together as a couple and as a human beings. Amy was really lonely before she met Sheldon and Sheldon didn't have any interesten in anyone like he does for Amy now. They are in love, I believe Amy knows that, but Sheldon hasn't realized about that yet. If he does, then he is having trouble with accepting these feelings.

Sheldon is on another level, an IQ of 187 is astounding, but for every up there is a down. Sheldon is so Cerebral he relates poorly to others, has difficulty understanding 'normal' social interactions, and equally, making himself understood. Finding an intellectual peer is almost impossible, and 'DUMBING DOWN' to better relate, is disingenuous; it does harm to both sides of the equation.
For Sheldon, finding Amy, and more, having Amy find him appealing, was nothing short of miraculous!
I had a Prof who would often attend lectures wearing odd shoes, one loafer, one carpet slipper...we were grateful he cared enough to bother putting on trousers (pants)!
He existed on another plane, walking across the Court (Quad) muttering to himself, eyes clinched shut at times, trying to get a handle on who knows what; stopping in mid stride and drawing images on the sky it seemed. Brilliant beyond description, but ostrobogulous in the extreme. An affable chap to talk to when he wasn't wrestling with the Universe, and a tremendous instructor. I often wondered what became of him. He'd be about 127 years old by now, so I have an inkling he's looking back upon us from a chair in that Universe he sought so hard to interpret and understand.

In many ways theirs is one of the most intimate and romantic relationships portrayed on TV. Leonard and Penny can come together as much as they wish but they've a ways to go to reach Amy and Sheldon in their understanding of each other.
This is so sweet! Such an inventive way of ensuring they both get what they need. Amy has her intimacy through mental stimulation, which as all us girls know works very well! And Sheldon is still having the space and comfort be needs 🥰

The show has made "coitus" one of the most often used of the words with the same meaning...I've heard this word as many times in TBBT as I've seen people smoking and boozing in Mad Men. Love Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik. They have great chemistry on set.
VERY Powerful moment. If you look very carefully and reflect on all the things Sheldon has been emotional about- this hits the most suspenseful moment because he has concern and love in his eyes. He doesn't want Amy to doubt the paradigm of their relationship. As far as he's concerned she's so intelligent that he knows he doesn't need sex to feel intimately connected. The next step is for him to say the big 3 words that would knock the socks off Amy. Shamy couple= out of this world!
What I completely love about this relationship is that Sheldon is literally uncomfortable with human interaction-it's not just his choice, he is genuinely affected by this. But he still hugs and kisses Amy because he knows it's what she wants. Also Amy is the only person who doesn't make fun of him and just accepts him for him. The closeness of their relationship all boils down to the fact that Sheldon actually accepts her as an equal and not just another person. They are so mentally bonded that it;s intimate without physicality.

A relationship between two people not of a sexual nature is platonic, thus a friendship. So they've pretty much been friends for over five years. Nothing wrong with that. But the terms of their relationship should've been clear from the beginning. And Amy's character should've been given a real boyfriend had she wanted a physical relationship. I've never really understood the "Shamy" thing at all....

All emotions that have to do with Amy are new to him. I think it's adorable how he can be so intimate with her with out even really trying. That's what a relationship is supposed to be about not having to try so hard. Sheldon's not stupid, he knows what she wants and is slowly getting there but he also knows how to make her happy with little things such as making her his emergency contact. He knew she would love it.

As weird as this looks,it's actually one of the sweetest things I have ever seen Sheldon do.In the past,as soon as Sheldon's own bad or guilty feelings were resolved,he would want to be done with the whole situation.This time,however,he actually wants to make Amy feel better.From the little snipped's about Sheldon's childhood,we see that he is actually a very sensitive person.His parents fighting,and being bullied really hurt him.He learned to put a wall up to protect himself.
I freakin LOVED this scene! Thought it was about time they had a open and honest conversation about the possibility of having a physical relationship. I've loved these two from the beginning and I think even the idea of Sheldon not only playing this game for her but even participating shows how much they're evolving as a couple. Can't believe all the haters who rag on this show when it's got such sweet scenes such as this! Kudos to Jim and Mayim!

Amazing how many people think that Sheldon considering a physical relationship is out of character. It's narrow minded to believe that Sheldon's character is incapable of growth & change. I love that the show has never labeled Sheldon as anything other than Sheldon. It gives us the chance to put our preconceived notions aside of whatever he may be, and be happy that Sheldon has someone in his life that cares about him, and remarkably how much he cares for her in his own way. Sheldon and Amy are so adorable together, they will eventually get there you'll see, Sheldon even referred to the physical aspects of their relationship in public discussing how now they hold hands, and hug even on hot days lol. He is really growing more and more comfortable with romance it will just take time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... This was one of my all time favorite episodes of them together. I think it was very deep and well thought out for the writers to realise that "intimacy" isn't just about going for the money shot as it were. But it's about truly being With the other person on the best level imaginable... Where the head and heart meet.

This is probably one of my favourite scenes in the entire 6 seasons.
This is easily my absolute favourite Big Bang Theory episode, a combination of Howard's impressions plus this scene.
I felt proud of Sheldon because of this. Amy really drags him out of his comfort zone in this scene and I think he handles it brilliantly.

I love the intensity created in these characters. It doesn't have to be NC-17 for it to be intimate between people.
This may seem 'funny' to most people but there are genuinely persons who have been brought up to be nearly terrified of physical contact or social intimacy with other humans, even ones they are attracted to.

First time she kissed him, he didn't get grossed out at all or get upset he said "Fascinating" and stared into her eyes intimately like he was waiting for another kiss. Also, whenever she hugs him he never pulls away and twice he even hugged her back and once said Why'd you stop?! Because he wanted her to continue the hug.
