    JBL used to do a gloss black glass topper for some of their higher end speakers in the 80's . I think the glossy top is a call back to that design.

    Hey quick question: When the JBL Studio 230's are powered up is there any present hissing or humming? Going through a nightmare with monitors right now, trying to close in on a pair worth keeping! Yorkville YSM5's? YSM6's? YSM8's? Nope! ART RM5's? NOPE! JBL 230's???

    how would you rate these against flaunce line... I'm looking at some speakers for my first home theater set up in a rather small theater room 13x13 with a projector. thanks for your help.

      These definitely get louder then anything fluance has. But with the new signature series it is harder to say what sounds better overall. In your small room. the SIggys might win out.

    Buying an emotiva a-100 and want 300 dollar bookshelfs to pair with it, are these the best option in that range? Trying to decide between these, the Elac b6.2, and a couple others but I'm worried 50 watts wont get the volume I need out lower sensitivity speakers

    Hey, really enjoying your reviews. Thinking about picking up a pair of these, but have some hesitations. I'm looking to upgrade from the Pioneer BS22. I was going to pick up a pair of the JBL 530, but they are discontinued. The SVS Ultra are a bit out of my league price-wise. Would you recommend these in lieu of those two models, or would you recommend something else entirely? Also, worth mentioning, Im working with a 7wpc custom valve amp. Thanks.

    Zeos, I'm so close to buying a pair of these but are there any other speakers in this price range (£350~) I should consider? I've looked at all your guides but most of the speakers you've recommended seem to be hard to find in the UK. They'll be used 60% music, 40% home theater. For reference I love the sound of HD600 headphones (except the bass is a tiny bit light for me). Thanks! Your videos/guides/everything are super helpful.

    Are your ELAC UB5s on order? Would love to hear a comparison between them and these 230s. I'm enjoying my UB5s quite a bit but I regret not buying the 590s when I could have.

      So far, the JBL Studio 230 has better reviews on Amazon than the Elac UB5, though the sample size for the Elac is way too small (only 8 reviews so far). Either way, I'm not upgrading from my Miccas until Zeos reviews the UB5s.

    • @kcsantos86
      @kcsantos86 7 років тому +2

      All I can say is I trusted Zeos, and bought these over the ELAC B6s. The UB5's are just supposed to be clearer with less bass, but for far more $$ than these. I love these JBLs, and couldn't be happier with my purchase. They really shine in the mids, and are wonderful for rock, metal, jazz, reggae, whatever - with a very wide and open soundstage. Bass response isn't as deep as my DefTech SM55s but those are broken for meow.

    Hey Z,
    Just ordered this studio 230's, and was wondering what amp or receiver would you recommend with these?
    Mainly I will listen to music through Deezer app, so I'll need some kind of wireless connection to amp / receiver, and TV would be hooked to digital in.
    Main concern is sound quality of course, with my budget in mind of $500-$600.
    Brands that are in play: Yamaha, Marantz, Denon, Onkyo, Sony, Pioneer.
    Even thought about Sonos Connect Amp that you reviewed, but connectivity with TV is pretty poor. It only has analog in, that users find has a bit of delay to it.
    Maybe even Denon Heos amp, this one has digital in, but I don't know about there software.
    Thanks in advance.

    Looking for living room speakers, for music as well as TV/movies.
    So far I'm between the LSR 308, Audioengine A5+ and HD6. I've had the A5+s before and I know they'd work, but I'm hoping to try something better. Not interested in adding a sub either.

    Hi Zeos!
    Which speakers would you recommend if I want to use them in a 2.0 setup, but also want to reuse them later as rears? These, you said, would be overkill then. Or does my plan make no sense as such speakers simply don't exist?

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  8 років тому

      +ohbutreally Well rears can be so cheap now-a-days that you would need to REALLY upgrade the fronts to make it worth moving these to a rear position.

      Z Reviews okay, I was on the fence about getting towers and a center channel, or use these 230s all the way around for a 5 or 6.1 Thinking it would give a better "seamless" transition to pan across the room. Your thoughts?

I did put some instrument songs, at first i didnt expect much about bass from the bookshelf speakers, my sitting room is huge. The result was. It supprised me totally, it sounds fill the room, detail in high and a really bassy . I love these. Overhere i have no chance to get the 530s. But for me these are enough and im happy with these. Love this reviews, very professional, detail, and very accurate. Vote for 230s

      3 months later but better than nothing I guess. 220s should be fine on a desk. Don't think they're gonna be enough for a whole room or a home cinema, but that's not what you're after for anyways.

      The Elac B5 I reviewed were great. The B6 I heard elsewhere and had the desired increase in volume and bass. The JBL's costing more now have to compete with the Elac UB5's and those win for a refined sound.

      I got the Studio 230s. They're incredible for the price honestly thought they're a little on the bright side (depends on your room a lot though) but with great clarity. They can go damn loud if you need them to and they have solid bass that extends quite low and blends well with my SVS SB-2000 sub. The only thing that bugs me slightly is the mid range detail. The tweeter is very good but I get the feeling the woofer could do with more detail (most likely the crossover instead of the woofer). I only say that because my Sennheiser HD600 have incredible mid range so I'm spoiled a little. Don't let that put you off though.
      I use these as mix of home theater and music. What music do you listen to?

    • @proksalevente
      @proksalevente 7 років тому

      I already have theese since november 2016.
      Had to RMA my first pair in january, because something in one of the cabs came loose and the tweeter was resonating.
      The second pair is fine since then.
      I'm pushing them with a FiiO Q1 and a Denon PMA-520AE, and they can make your ears bleed (109dB from 1 meter at ~45wpc)
      They are crystal clear, but i'm thinking of getting a sub, which should be able to go really low. Theese really start rolling off around 40-45hz.
      Here is a pic of my setup:
