    I let go of a relationship of a friend I had for over 30 years during the pandemic, because she was always making me feel bad about myself. Life is too short to have people in it that make you feel bad about yourself. I have not missed her for 1 second, and that was a couple of years ago. 👍🏻

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 роки тому +2

      Friends like children grow up and move away. Often the relationship has run it's course. Just because someone was once dear to us, and has now moved on, doesn't negate the fact that once they were dear to us. Loving people and letting them go sometimes is the healthiest thing for all parties involved. I commend your courage for making the choice to chose healthy over comfort. 🤗

    My eldest sister cleaned houses for years before she died of an aneurysm. She was also a philosopher. My Aunt cleaned offices and homes all her life before succumbing to COPD (from chemicals probably, she never smoked ever). She, too, had great statements on daily living management that pulled her through and which she shared with everyone --- and she made a ton of money, most she gave away to the poor and the indigents in our family.

    I hate confrontation or asking people for things. I wish I overcome these things, I am in my 50's too and I have so many things to learn. Life is not easy but I get by each day. There are so many things I wish I knew in my 20's. But life is all about learning so I guess it is never too late to learn something new if only I had that confidence. Thank you for the video.

      Thanks for saying so. I remember one time I was so upset with one of life's lessons that I put on a pair of running shoes and took off running as fast as I could. I was having an internal dialogue while crying and running and I shouted at the top of my lungs: "WHAT IS THE LESSON IN THIS?" LOL. And then I started laughing because I knew if this is how I solve a problem of this magnitude (running and looking for the silver lining) I was going to make it through okay. And I did. 🙏

    Great video and great insights! One thing I'm pondering today as this video AND another one from a different channel on a similar topic about wisdom gained since the person's 20s both popped up on my feed is the reciprocal reality: I wish I knew NOW what I knew THEN or "Lessons I've forgotten since my 20s." I was doing a lot right then that I just haven't been able to keep up with as I've gotten older. I started with lots of good habits around health, relationships, and money that have gradually waned and been replaced by bad habits. And I certainly had A LOT more energy and a much better overall attitude. I think it is important to look back on the lessons learned since young adulthood, and certainly I've made improvements in lots of areas of my life and I'm happy with where I am -- but I think for me, I'll dedicate the next couple months to trying to relearn some of the lessons and skills I had then and lost.
    I don't think progress and wisdom are linear paths, and certainly one isn't only ever improving in every area of their lives. There are tradeoffs and you might take a step forward in one area only to take two back somewhere else.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 роки тому +2

      You've got some really great points here. Thanks for sharing this. I too have done the one step forward and two steps back approach. For me it is also related around health issues. Every year I do a physical reboot where I do an exercise program for 100 days without fail. During the 100 days of course sleep and eating habits improve and I get back on track with my good habits again. That lasts for the better part of a year and then like a slippery slide down I go again. So I'm on day 22 now of my most recent reboot. I need to just make this part of my life non-negotiable to trade offs. (Maybe that is the lesson I learn in my 50's) Thanks for the wake-up call. Woot Woot! ♥👏🙌

    I try to live with, “No Regret”. In my opinion you are being way too hard on yourself and instead realize that you’re kind and caring and willing to help others/Us. I’m, thankful to have you on Utube grateful you started when you did. What you have learned is to not share your dreams, aspirations or goals, people unfortunately, think they know what’s good for you/us. I know now, that if I don’t try, I won’t succeed. I know now, to not try, to not follow my instinct’s to not try is failure. When we try there will be, hurdle after hurdle but perseverance always pays off. You know now and I do too, that family is first. It makes lives better and makes better employees. We now know to not sweat the small stuff, stuff happens when you’re working, doing something. And things are less likely to happen if you’re not preoccupied with something at home. I feel like you shared your regrets with us❣️To me, without your regrets I wouldn’t be learning from you, like I am and truly thankful you are who you are, caring, sharing and willing to share your knowledge. Truly & Sincerely, Thank You Beautiful Soul. ♥️✌🏽🙏🏽

    You mentioned having a soft spot for those that are unintentionally creating problems. How do you handle those situations? What did you end up saying to the offender about it?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 роки тому +6

      In this particular situation, in our group meetings once a week I addressed the issues of concern so the entire team would know I was aware and giving that person yet another chance. (That behavior would be corrected and they would do something new to create chaos.) I had daily conversations with the offender both in person, by phone and via text as situations would arise. I gave plenty of space for learning, growth and change. And when the behavior became belligerent, I released them from their duties with my company.

    You still look like you're in your mid 40s
    Maybe the house cleaning keeps you fit,who knows...?

      LOL. Thanks. True story - when I was young I wanted to be older - but how much older? I picked 40. So I've been 40 in my head for about 30 years. I still think I'm 40. I think that is the perfect age for all things. LOL.
