Aw that’s great you are planning on checking out Vale de Peña. Ricky had no idea what pasties you were talking about (I just had to have an awkward conversation with him lol ) Thanks for the laugh & for watching our video
Finally found some great land here at a super price and building a few places for people on the cheap. We will be solar for almost a year, then on grid if everyone wishes. Hey, if ya can have no utilities why not stay off the grid here in PM and have grid for back up. Thanks to you two!!! The dreams come true.
What a fun day! Love the ladies home!!! Good on all of you axe thowers! The food looks amazing. I definitely want to visit Ricardo's restaurant and try some axe throwing myself.
Ok you beautiful people, we will have to meet-up when I return for the 5th (6th???) time to P.M. with my 8-year old daughter in tow. Coming down June 18 - 26. I am originally from England too but a long time USA citizen. Way to go with the HP Sauce!!!!!
@@RickRackTravels Now ask Ricky what the Scottish equivalent is to the Welsh pastie. And yes, I realise The Rickster is from Ulster but they may as well be a stone's throw away.
@@rdrake316 Hi Tyler, Ricky here yes the pasties in both Ireland and Scotland are different. You will find them in the fish and chip shops. They are deep fried but very tasty I do miss them! Cornish pasties are also popular in Ireland though.
Such a lovely home the sisters have in the jungle, complete with adorable pets! The only time we've seen Cornish pasties is at the bus stations in Mexico City - they always look delicious. Ricky, your axe-throwing technique looks good!
What an interesting video. Love the sisters home, what unique ideas with the sink and shower head, beautiful. I did get a little scared watching them walk up the stairs, I would def need a railing to feel safe, lol. Axe throwing looks fun but I feel no one would feel safe with me throwing . . .stand far far away, lol.
Thanks for your comment Debbie. The Sister’s house is still a bit of a work in progress. The stair railing will be going in and a lovely little dipping pool out back too! I’m sure you would be fine with the axe throwing- Ricardo is a great coach
Really enjoyed this video what a treat to peek inside the sisters home.in the jungle and now I know the history behind the Cornish Pasty I ate a ton of them when I worked in a British pub in Toronto. Remind me not to sneak up on you if you are holding a axe your aim is to good Raquel!
This region of the state of Hidalgo is called Little Cornwall which encompasses Pachuca and Real del Monte. There’s hundreds of pasty shops so it’s very nice. The Cornish brought more to the region and Mexico as a whole such as football (soccer for the gringos/yanks), tennis, cricket, polo and tea houses. The town of Real del Monte is like a little Cornish hillside town with a British cemetery and Pachuca has many buildings reminiscent of England including the clock (made by the same company as Big Ben in London), the central bank, Methodist church, municipal palace and so much more! Definitely worth the visit but I would stay in Real del Monte for a night or two and also buy silver!
I've enjoyed your videos. I'm 68 and have lived in central Mexico (at close to 6000 ft) for the last 10 years. My wife passed away late last year and I think it is time for a change. I always thought it would be Cancun but Puerto Morelos may be more financially responsible. I am not very UA-cam savy. I have a ton of questions. Should I/can I ask my questions here or is there a better way to communicate them ? - do you have a cistern and a fosa septica or are there public utilities ? and if there are utilities how reliable are they ? - currently I probably visit the local cruz roja maybe 4 or 5 times a year for small medical issues. is there a cruz roja clinic in Puerto Morelos ? How about IMSS ? - how often do you find yourselves going into Cancun for shopping - like Costco ? I think you mentioned Liverpool in one video ? that is in Cancun as well ? maybe there is like a galerias mall in Cancun ? - you have been there for 2 1/2 years ? what do you think the chances are that I can find a nice place near/on the beach to rent for 6 months to a year (for myself and my 3 cats) while I look for a place to purchase. I _think_ I'd be looking for a condo rather than a stand alone house. - is there a breeze off the water ? is there a time of the year when you can open the windows and not run the a/c ? - how's the internet ? - are there email or facebook sites where you all share experiences ? maybe where I can ask questions such as these without bothering you nice folks ? I'll stop there but I have many more questions... Thanks
Hi Charlie, very sorry to hear that your wife passed away. Where we live in La Colonia we are connected to the Town sewage system that runs throughout the town. Most people have a Tinaco on the roof of their house which holds a good quantity of water. The water is drawn directly from the street into the tank and as you use the water from the tank it becomes refilled from the street. This water like most in Mexico is not potable so you have to buy Garrafons of drinkable water. All facilities are reliable except in the case of a hurricane where we have been out of electricity for about 24-48 hours. There are three different medical clinics in PM all of which have modern facilities and excellent Doctors. Specialist Doctors also visit these clinics once or twice a week. For more complicated matters one must go to either Cancun or Playa Del Carmen both approximately 30 minutes away either North or South of PM. We go to Cancun about twice a month mostly to go to Cosco's but there is also Sam's Club and there are many Modern shopping malls. There is actually a new Mall currently being built half way between PM and Cancun it is said that it will be one of the largest in Mexico. You will be able to find a pet friendly condo on the beach side to rent a stand alone house, not so much on the beach side but for sure in La Colonia. It gets cool in December and January to a point were you can open the windows and not run the AC. At the minute on the beach side there are heavy deposits of Saragassum which can be very smelly so a lot of people cannot open their windows. There is no smell on the La Colonia side. The internet in the area that we live is excellent. There are a few groups on Facebook for PM check out, I love Puerto Morelos or Puerto Morelos life. We hope this answers your questions somewhat and good luck with your move!!
It is fresher in the jungle. In my opinion it's more like a Canadian forest than the jungle you may have pictured in your mind. Mixed in with some flora and fauna.
Hi Jeff, Yes we agree with Laurie Ann. The day we went to visit Belinda & Kate us was super hot but out at their place, we had the nicest breeze and surprisingly no mosquitoes. (I’m sure at dusk and Dawn they are there but that’s everywhere in PM)
@@RickRackTravels isn't there a lot less mosquitos on the beach side since ur catching the ocean breeze? I went to Tulum to the jungle cenotes in Oct & mosquitoes ate me up..
@@jeffyeah4256 Hi Jeff, there are mosquitoes on the beach side as well particularly right at dusk for the first halt hour. After that they are not too bad. October is worse because it is the tail end of the rainy season and as there is a lot of water lying there’s more mosquitoes as they are able to lay eggs. To be honest we found the mosquitoes in Canada to be a lot worse where we lived!
Cornish pasties were adopted in the state of Hidalgo. There were mines runned by British citizen. We know them as "pastes", the original is potato and beef. Now you can find several flavors inside them, sweet or salty. There are franchises of pastes here in México, one is www.pasteskikos.com
Thank you Fernando!! Wow a sweet Cornish Pasty ? (We have never imagined such a food existed) Thanks for the link to this franchise…. We have much to learn !
