Absolutely. I do this all the time. Hunters Bend is not considered as strong as a Double Fisherman's Knot but if used correctly in a climbing application, there is no practical way we can test those limits.
That's just a small remnant of a length of Maxim Canyon Elite I had laying around. It's advertised as 9mm, but its over 9.5. My favorite ropes are listed here: jrbtreeclimbing.com/content/rope/
