I'm part of the solution. I drive a Chevy Volt. 34,497 miles. Only used 154 gallons of gas. That's 224 MPG. My old car that got 22 MPG used 18 barrels of oil per year. My Chevy Volt only uses 3 1/2 barrels of oil per year. I buy wind power from my local utility and charge my car at night when the energy demand on the grid is low. We the people need to step forward and take responsibility for the fuel and energy that we all use.

Will Arnold Schwarzenegger terminate his ties to forest destruction?
Last Sunday, Showtime aired the premiere of Years of Living Dangerously, the first broadcast television show to address the climate crisis. In the first two episodes, Harrison Ford investigates how illegal palm oil plantations are driving deforestation and the release of massive amounts of carbon in the atmosphere.
We love the show, but Friends of the Earth and Global Witness discovered that one of its producers and stars, former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, is financing forest destruction. Schwarzenegger is part-owner of Dimensional Fund Advisors, a money manager with deep ties to forest destruction through logging and palm oil companies.
Let's hold Schwarzenegger to a higher standard. Tell him to pressure DFA to cut its ties with forest-destroying palm oil companies.
Dear Mr. Schwarzenegger -- I congratulate you for your role in bringing Years of Living Dangerously to the viewing public. Its impact will be huge. But I’m also concerned that you yourself have investments linked to companies involved in deforestation. Dimensional Fund Advisors, with whom you have close personal and financial ties, has close to a billion dollars tied up in some of most destructive companies on the planet. Your roles with DFA and Years of Living Dangerously give you a huge opportunity to flex your financial muscle to save tropical forests.
In the words of Zenzi Suhadi , a forest defender with Walhi/Friends of the Earth Indonesia, “You must not play a terminator in real life.” Please make the best of this opportunity, and urge DFA to break ties with any company destroying the rainforests that you have passionately been trying to save. A progressive move from DFA could be one of the brightest outcomes of Years of Living Dangerously. Please don’t let it pass by.
