quick tip: in early game focus on industry and foraging trees, (and get vaults from economic) and (spoilers) when you unlock the bow, build it. With like 2 upgrades, it becomes a lot better than the pickaxe and sword in that it can destroy ores in 1 hit and doesn't use any energy (so you won't have to eat food) and is good in combat. Arrows are very cheap and eventually you'll find an item which gives you infinite arrows.

Best way I’ve found to get fast exp is to craft torches, only needs wood and coal and takes 3 hits to break aswell as only being one tile big so you can really cram them in.
I give this series 6 videos before Sjin gets bored of his "addiction"... wish he'd stick with something longer.

You'd have to eat 200 bananas within a short amount of time to die of potassium poisoning, so I'm fairly sure you'd be fine eating just bananas.
