Hello Tony, masterpiece. Love your determination. You could put in strawberry plants is it’s gets enough sun. Take care Joyce 💚👩🏻🌾🍀
Grow bulbs, flowers for picking an dahlias so you have a bunch each week for the mrs!
Tony you might want to ask the young lad Dan to help you a little bit. But I think you have a good idea to do that raised bed. Your knocking a lot of projects out.😀😀😀
Thank you Sir... This is great news you have reclaimed the whole new growing area with this wonderful built ... Stay happy and healthy always .. respect 🌼🌹✌️🤖🐦🎄🌻🌺🕊️🕊️🕊️
I'm no builder but I think you need another support in the middle too! Crazy hard work before a night shift!
Lookin good Tony....
Slow start but a racehorse finish....
Well done Tony. I loved your “this is more like engineering than gardening”!! That 5 min talking to yourself at the beginning obviously did the trick. I love Daisy - she’s so patient!
Strawberry bed? Well done, look great.
Love the new bed. Have fun planting it.
Put your corner posts in to the hieght of your top boards. mek it easy on your back. one at a time . good luck with it--take the top one of and sink the back one,s down to the level of the front
The plot looked good before but it’s more luxurious than me house now - helluva job man 👍
Good job Tony, way to stick with it.
You put that 4th board on and I said to myself.... “he’ll have that off in a minute” 😂 Top job Tony! I’m knackered now after watching that! Very apt song lyrics too. It’s hammering down with gales again here in Scotland 🙄🌱
Kelly's Kitchen Garden Way to go Kelly. Sorry to hear weather crap - we are now getting whipped by it😢
Great effort Tony. It looks brilliant. Would be great for things like bush beans so you don't have to spend ages bent over rummaging around harvesting. You can do it standing up. Sounds good to me!
Gosh Tony, would love an allotment like that, heaven
Looks ace. Flowers for bees 😊
Hi from Scotland hi tony I felt your pain in lifting those heavy boards well done you plot is looking good with all your new beds when you get rid of all the rubble it will look good amazing say safe take care Anne Scott from Scotland
Tony your correct,it’s hard to do it by ourselves, but we manage,I’m currently trying to put a roof on my greenhouse,it’s very windy and I would love a hand
Omg tony ,. That was hard graft , hats off to your mate 👍 daisy is so good , my two would have ripped the Polly tunnel down
That was a job well done Tony. You gave yourself a lot of work, but worth it in the end.
Brilliant video Tony!! You just never give up your whole plot looks AMAZING!!! Can't wait for the next installment I love watching your videos you're a 🌟 x
Lorraine Grey You’re making me blush Lorraine 😀⭐️👍
Perfect for putting some strawberries in part of it, as you start to increase your fruit growing. For the small box beds on the other side that you’ve made they would be great for blueberry bushes (just make sure you filled it with ericaceous soil as they’re acid loving bushes).
Good luck , great to see your videos, too much wind 💨, last year my poly tunnel blew away , then I pinned it down & the next storm snapped the frame , it wasn’t the best poly tunnel 😊, I love watching your videos. , just subscribed, we just started our little channel just over a year ago , hope to be as successful as you one day , hope you get some sunshine ☀️
Great job Tony
Well done it looks great. Hard doing that kind of job on your own but it will give you extra growing space. Maybe for outdoor tomatoes ? Runner beans? I'll wait and see what you do with it.
I love watching your projects I'm a new subscriber. I taught you were going to replace the fence and clean up the pile of stone and bricks
The plot is looking out off this world you've put so much work into it a very well done from me enjoy
I just had a look at some of your older videos, starshipsofa , your channel suddenly changed to gardening, amazements my to see your history, can you give me any tips , I’m just growing my channel, it’s landscaping & growing veg , my best wishes to you , absolutely love watching your videos 😊🙏🐝
I’ve been Podcasting’s as StarShipSofa since 2005 with odd SF related videos added into the mix but then started gardening videos on UA-cam which seem to be doing ok.
Tony C Smith Your Dong so well with it & have many subscribers, that’s wonderful, I’ve just had mine going for just over a year & a half , I was commuting from West Wales to England every week for work but now I have my little boy of 10 living with me full time , I had the pleasure of growing some really interesting veg for a friend who owns an Indian restaurant in West Wales but now in England full time & some very good friends have let me use half of there garden to grow veg , my channel encompasses landscaping, gardening, growing veg & working with nature , we are looking to grow the channel as much as we can , it’s s pleasure to watch your videos & love to see what your doing, thank you for the response 😊🙏🐝
Hi Tony ,
Love the new project, could you not put a few large screws into the uprights of the fence to keep it stable,or do you not get on with your neighbours. Also are you not growing your potatoes in the black containers this year,
Thanks Lee
Lee Hart I didn’t want to connect to that fence Lee it’s just a flimsy thing. Just doing about 6 to 8 tubs of Pink Fir Apples this year👍⭐️😀
What a great job, it feels brilliant when you look back and see how neat and tidy it looks and you think,, I did that...😊
That looked hard work, but a great end result. Are they roof joist timbers????? Not sure if the fence is yours but it may be an idea to screw the fence posts to the new bed before you fill with soil....... before it collapses completely 🤣. Now just imagine what you could do...... if you didn't have to go to work 🤔
🌻 Nigel .......MuddyBootz Allotment 🌻
MuddyBootz Yes they are roof joists Nigel. That fence is not mine and just a weak thing that really could come out and be re done. My allotment is about 3 foot lower than the allotment behind the new raised bed so this bed makes a good barrier now? I have one year to go until I go part time⭐️👍
A big fat tick off the list. That looks BLOODY GOOD, Tony! Well done, that man. 🏅
Joanne Barlow Thanks so much Joanne👍⭐️😀
Well done that looked a hard task but worth it!
Well done tony😁
Think a couple more braces in the centre, put about half way down then they will be buried out of site. Pressure of wet dirt can bow the side. ( voice of experience ). Onions might be good up there nice shallow roots. looking real good now. Just that bit in front of the shed.
Keep it up tony evertime i watch you video i want to get to my allotment 👌👍
Are you allowed to increase the height of the dry stone wall there? you could put metal brackets into it to put the boards too. Just an idea. Ah right, go a bit further into the video Mark then type...lol. It's looking a bit breezy and all up there. how about fruit trees in there or something that bushes to give more cover from the wind if you're not going to lose any light; a bit of height can help shield crops in the beds just in front of it.
Hi Tony, you don't just think about it, you do it!! Great job, cut the top of those posts off and jobs a good un. Fill it with compost and plant it with with whatever takes your fancy. Well done and give yourself a huge a huge pat on the back 👏😘
Fantastic! Watch your back Tony 😲🙈
You did good Tony!
Honestly mate your smashing it this year!!!!!! Enjoying seeing the allotment come along as quickly as it is and and as well as it has Tony 👍🏻💪🏻 keep em coming!!!!!!
Karlito Bergkamp These are all dreams and plans I’ve had for years. Nearly there now 😅
Hi tony you are one mad man the bed look great
you are my sort of builder - near enough is good enough!
deherre350 Oh yes😂
Building raised block beds at moment on a useless piece of concrete slab that was laid before I moved here , and that was my train of thought at beginning...then saw Tony do his tunnel…if I do this properly I thought and everything is level... I could turn into a greenhouse at some point! So even though I have never built anything like this EVERYTHING is level just in case :)
The bed looks good, what is the rubble in the base? Looks like concrete or limestone, ready limed bed and a crumbling slope, would some permanent planting help consolidate it? Have you planted all the fruit bushes that came with the polytunnel? Perhaps some black and red currants, too limey and well drained for blueberries, raspberries may tolerate the lime but support would be tricky. I think your last frost is not too late, perhaps a plum tree along there. Could you underplant with strawberries?
I fancy an apricot tree in my so far imaginary poly tunnel, have you thought of permanent plants in there?
Thanks for the video, Gwen in Anglesey
Ok so that area in front of the shed has to be set aside for the potato buckets. Last year they got in the way a bit. But in the super organised new setup a perfect spot.
So glad you moved those brackets from the outside, soon as I saw them I was pleading at the screen for you to change it. Good job now you have a sturdy base you have something to secure that wonky old fence to. Keep em coming Tony :)
Gregory Seager Many thanks Gregory 👍⭐️
How is it my allotment is knee deep in rainwater and it hasn’t stopped raining since October, and your plot is bone dry and always sunny!?!? Thoroughly entertaining as always Tony.
Hanley Plotter 8/9B Thank you Hanley👍⭐️😀
good job Tony, need plenty of muck, might dry out quick with all the rubble, the fence look it might fall first
Another wonderfully entertaining video!
That long beds looks great. Maybe u could use it as a salad bed. Put some lettuce in it spring onions a tomatoe plant maybe a cucumber.
Your videos are a joy to watch, Tony! Congratulations on a good job done!
Nah... 4 is too many, in my opinion. Also, it is going to take a whole boat load of soil to fill it. Anyway, you are doing a great job. Take care and stay safe, Sandie from Ontario Canada.
Well done Tony! I have to build everything myself (even my 8x6 greenhouse) and I'm only 5 ft 3 in., so my heart went out to you when I saw you struggle. But the joy you get when it's finished is fantastic! Well done. Keep well 😊🌱
Shell UK Thanks so much ch⭐️👍💪
Hi Tony 4-ft concrete post each and slot them in put a stake in the middle
Ive done a similar thing at my house. I concreted half round posts from the farmers mart (£1.50 each) in a line with flat face facing inwards. The screwed the boards to the posts so the posts effectively act as a retaining post to secure the wall. Put black plastic behind to stop the mud flowing through the gaps
Great job! 😄
looking good me son!
How about screwing a couple of decorative round wooden ball finials (I've no idea if that's what they're really called!) to finish off those posts, would look better and maybe handy when you're watering with a hose to hook it out of the way so it doesn't drag across other beds.
Linda B That there Linda is gold dust thank you so much. Cracking idea!
🏴 cracking job as always . You'll be starting Tony's D.I.Y. channel before long lol 😂😂
Best wishes
Steve
Can't see you staying awake through a day shift let alone a night-shift but if you do ,good on ya.Did a grand job, looking forward to video but can't see anything beating that one.Get to ya bed son.
Lol Tony. U curse as much as me lol. Great use of dead space. Hd job mate
You’re the bees knees Tony but please feed Daisy more than rope! 🤣
A bed too much?..is that the new Bond movie?...good call on going to three boards, definitely looks better than four did. It think it would make a canny strawberry bed, or half of it even....due to pick up the keys for my new plot in Gateshead tomorrow, so I know who to give a call when I want raised beds! 😆...atb Tony mate, Mark
Mark's Little World Oooooo lucky you Mark😀⭐️👍
@@TonyCSmith aye cheers, not the perfect weather to start off with, these winds are mental now..never known them last so long..take care anyway, Mark
awww, tony tony, tony, cut them down to a manageable size!!! and USE A POWER SAW!!! poor daisy, shaking her head and thinking "bless his heart".
Every journey begins with the first step or with a decent pair of boots as my old man would have it!
I like it. Great work. I did something similar in a half cut way but didnt work out. I like yours Tony.
Hi Tony, I’m loving the videos and I’m really interested in starting my own channel. I would love to know how you film and edit your videos (cameras, mics etc...). Any info would be appreciated.
Most walking around the allotment shots - it’s using GoPro 7 (2 units) and Rhode Wireless Go microphone. I edit on Final Cut Pro
Thank you so much tony.
Well done Tony feeling weary just watching you
Why do you leave the poly tunnel door open? Doesn't it drop the temperature?
it,s nordstoms the timber merchant in hendon on the other side of the river to you
That’s the one Peter - cracking timber merchants 👍⭐️
Haddaway man, it looks good the way it is. maybe chop the tops of the posts off 👍
Looking good Tony! I got to build my new raised bed tomorrow, but its out of pallet wood. Lots of screws, jiggery pokery and swearing. 😄
Bananaskin101 Oh yes!
Hi Tony, I love your vid's and updates but sorry to say your end product has gone beyond a hobby and what an allotment should look like. I am pleased you have a good budget but i do become envious when we start out on an even keel then you build a massive polytunnel and tailor made raised beds - wheres all the fun gone ?
Good evert big man
Genius Tony - Impressive
Paul Button Thank you Paul - means a lot👍⭐️😀
talk about labor intensive! i'm drinkin my coffee & LMAO but i still say use the extra wood to raise the level of some other beds! yep, i come here for entertainment!!!
s andy Ha! Cheers lad👍⭐️
another thing check out the garden centre just along the road from nordstroms called thoburns they are really good
peter frecker Ooooo I didn’t know about them. I’m there Pete!😀⭐️👍
If you'd staggered your joins it might have given it added strength.
tony when you have tried a 1000 times then give up keep going lad
Far to high, got to sort that fence out first.
Not my fence Lee.
What are you doing man !!! You should of made a frame/posts first mate, sunk them in a screwed into them like you compost bins 🤣😂🤣. An yer three def the right move 😎😎😎
It was funny watching you though 😍😍😍 take care mate
mike smith 1 cheers Mike. I just wasn’t sure about this one and all knowledge and common sense went out the window 😂👍⭐️😀

For God's sake, Tony, watch your back. You're a big lad, but you're not getting any younger. I won't touch the weights I lifted in my 40s, and I have a shorter spine than you..
The plot is looking great.
Ray Martin Nearly finished Ray😅👍
Why is the dog always tied up i used to take my dog to the allotment and let her wounder around
Maria Lee She might wonder a little to far.
