Yeah and considering the cynicism of The Boys in general, I think it's way more believable to think that everything was just his imagine before his head exploded which means he never even got the chance to be his perfect self to begin with

That and Rick would have a counter for basically anything Homelander would pull. Ricks gadgets as seen with his fight with that one god, his fight against the president, the episode's displaying his multiple cybernetics, and project Phoenix infinitely restoring him across universe's, even after his own project Phoenix was destroyed, make Rick way too powerful against most opponents. Whilst the writer's of Rick and Morty don't use all of Ricks advantages for every encounter (otherwise the show would get boring with Rick always winning) If it was a one on one with both characters using their arsenal of abilities to their fullest, Rick would win.

It's a breath of fresh air. This series is built upon dark and gritty, gory endings, and don't get me wrong, those aren't bad either. But it ends up making the entire world seem like it's 100% complete utter shit, everybody is an asshole and it just looks like there is zero hope all the time.

And Samberg is a genius 👏 like honestly I've been a massive fan since I was a little kid. To see him write darker stories like this just goes to show how talented he is. I act7aly never though he would be so damn good at telling clever, dark stories. I would love to see him direct a horror one day. Not kidding!
