Fantastic to watch. I'd like to see more programs like this on tv and I really think everyone would enjoy this. Thank you very much and greetings to the USA from Norway.
Really enjoyed watching you paint this lovely picture, Thank you, Micheal. Looking forward to getting out my paints and painting along with you. Very relaxing!
Excellent teaching and I am so inspired to pick up my brush and paint and try one. Your entire demonstration was made to feel so easy, inspiring and challenging. Thank you so much for such a profound teaching.
Great ! You paint and teach how to paint extremely well! What a gifted teacher! Thank you. Now I feel encouraged to try to follow your steps. As to linseed I would like to see how much of it you take on the brush. I watched these videos with the thrill of excitement .
I enjoy watching you paint. I also like the way you talk. I love oil painting. I also do painting on scallop shells. They are considered Nova Scotia art.I have some ready to paint now.. Keep up the good work. You are a credit to the painting world.
Hello Michael I just watched some of your videos and I just want to say thank you for making them you're an amazing artist and a great inspiration to all the inspiring artists like me! I'll make it happen thanks!
Thanks for the tips Michael, I have started painting recently and I am fairly pleased so far. If I can learn from people like you; I think I might be able to achieve something worth while. Once again thanks for sharing!
WOW! This picture is just absolutely magnifisantlyest beautiful! I know that magnifisantlyest isn't a real word but real words can't describe how beautiful this painting is.If only I were that good.
i really injoyed all 4 videos your amazing, i have just started painting with oils and am so excited to see how my work turns out...i hope to see more of your videos .
These 4 video's are all very interesting to look at and Michael Thompson so pleasant to listen to! He makes it look so simple.. what if it was???Very convincing indeed; thank you for all these techniques. Besides , SOOOOOO relaxing, you learn sthg and feel cool for a while after watching. What else?
Amazing work! Fantastic! You have inspired me to start oil painting again :) I remember trying just once and that was yrs ago! Thank you for posting these videos and teaching how to paint sir!
This is great, Mike. I learnt a lot. And your lovely, calm manner is so nice to listen to after the screeching of most of the internet. Thank you so much.
Thanks! I watched all four episodes of this scene and will try to imitate it to make a duplicate. This method of breaking the whole into parts is exactly what I was looking for on youtube.
I really enjoyed your videos, I have been painting for a while now, but I never really looked into videos such as yours, I may get me some of those brushes now that I know what they are for! Thank you for sharing us your knowledge.
You have helped me so much! I've watched several tutorials and yours by far are the best I've seen so far! You go slow and talk your way step by step which is very helpful to me. Now its time to put what I learned from you to canvas :)
omg...at the end when he made those little rose buds i was like "WOW!" it was SO amazing...wow...one little touch...roses are created? this is AMAZING!
This video had really inspired me to start painting again! You reminded me of how therapeutic art can be and the tutorial was clear and easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your ideas and techniques and very well done on an amazing painting!
Thank you for sharing your talent with others. Painting came out great especially after you put in highlights and variations of color. I love the way you put in the pond, it looks so natural. Great job.
Thank you! I now feel confident enough to do a painting. I love how much information you impart as an aside: "thin sticks to thick". This is very important for those of us that are just starting out. Again, thank you!
I can tell you're from the south! I am too! That is awesome work. I wish so much that I had kept at it after I graduated high school. I always took art class and was the most serious student, eager to learn. But, I didn't and I regret it. I'm 61yrs. now and I keep thinking about trying it again. Maybe this old dog can learn some new tricks.
Hi Bekki, I have never experienced any problems what I have read over the years is they say cracking can occur, if there is not enough oil in the paint therefore I recommend using an oil thinning agent like linseed oil or something like that where as paint thinner alone will remove all the oil from the paint. I have paintings over 12 years old never had any problems. Plus the paint I use has a good formula I use LUKAS STUDIO OILS. I hope this helps.
Wow. Thank You!!! I definitely learned a few new tricks from you today. My brush strokes are pretty bad and so as my mixing abilities, but you know what they say, keep trying :) right? I've been working with acrylic paint for a couple of times now and I wanna try oil paint for a change. You make everything so easy though. I hope I become as good as you someday.
Michael i love your painting you are great watching you paint i now buying my own paints and start drawing from my hart also be watching your videos i think your the next bob ross
Thank you so so much! I am drawing for myself and i never had drawing lessons, here where i live even in school ,lessons are not very helpful. You help alot of people , thank you million times for that
Thank you Michael for the great introduction to oil painting. Is there a way you can post a list of what materials you use? I bought a bunch of inexpensive brushes, since I am just a beginner,, however, I'm not able to achieve the same look to my painting. The paint was a lot thicker and my brushes don't seem to behave the way yours do. Also, could you show how much linseed oil you use as you dip your brush?
the paint I use "Lukas Studio Oils" is very buttery mixes very well together. plus the technique wet on wet I only add mediums when I need to thin my paint to do fine detail or add highlights. if you get all of your paints to thin then you get a muddy mess. hope that helps? regards, Michael
@NoodleBeri linseed oil is a clear oil used to thin oil paint, some oil paints have linseed oil already in them, say for instance you are painting along and you want to do fine detail work you can use linseed oil to thin the paint with, there are other mediums you can use like this linseed oil dries slowly so if you work slow then linseed oil would come in handy, a medium that dries a little quicker is liquin. hope this helps michael
the first thing is to remember is we are always practicing what you think is a mistake others may think different. just have fun in your results, there are thousands of blank canvas just waiting to be painted, so what may be lacking on one canvas can be achieved on another. no fear just practice have fun enjoy yourself.
Thank u Sir, for making this video. It's very helpful fr me. I'm likely to start painting 2 and a half decade. I lost my stokes to RA! So it seems to be helpful fr me. Thanks a lot.
wow this is really a great technique!! i've done a few paintings in the past but my problem is that afraid of the canvas and making mistakes. i know mistakes can be fixed easily and i can always geso over the canvas and start fresh but, can you recommend anything else in getting over the fear of painting?? thanks!
