We're getting not only one video on Absalom but three?! Man, thanks so much. I can only imagine how much work it is for you to present everything so detailed in this way. Amazing work as always!
Wow, all this just for the history and politics. The gazetteer will no doubt be a lengthy video considering all the sights there is to see in the city of Absalom. And no doubt the rest of the isles of Kortos and Erran will make for another hour plus long video. I'm looking forward to seeing those videos because this one alone made my day. 😄
One of my favorite things about Absalom is if you look at their history it is heavily defined by sieges. Maybe they need better protection.. Great video as always! Gping to watch on my lunch break!
These videos plus the ones that Lore Tour put out on the Districts of Absalom should be really helpful for any GM wanting to run games there, especially agents of edgewatch.
We just recently started the edgewatch-campaign and everyone except our GM are Newbies so this video is just on time. Very Nice!👏 Thank you for your videos - they are always so detailled and very extended🤓
Will you grace us with a "Pathfinder Solar System Deepdive" series once Golarion is finished? I heard Eox the Dead Planet was quite the tourist magnet. :p
From my games there is also Chainbreaker the Thrice-hanged & Hogfather in the Puddles district. Chainbreaker was a Druid in life who was hanged for stealing his animal companion Hogfather, who at the time was a domesticated hog. His soul was consigned to Cernunnos’ realm in Elysium, which was like a prison to the lonely little goblin. When Hogfather, who was consigned to Nirvana, sought him out in Elysium, Chainbreaker was told that he should learn from the boar’s example by the azata. From that day forward, he sought a way to escape the “prison” of Elysium, where he was without tribe. The core of his tribe in the Puddles are slaves he freed in Cheliax before migrating to Absalom. Many of the halflings of them personally witnessed the Chellish hell knights hang him and watched him get back up when they cut him down to recover the rope. The goblins of his tribe have watched him use wildshape to turn into a wolf, so they assume he is a fifth hero-god. After arrival in Absalom, he put his tribe to work building a place to live in the deeper parts of the Puddles. They began by collapsing old buildings and filling them in with mud and soil to create dry land for their campsite. The oldest campsites are now farms and range land for the pigs, covering several of the old city blocks. The dredging operations to build new islands have left deep sinkholes in other parts of the Puddles, such as the ship canal at the Spitside docks, which is deep enough that large ocean-going vessels can dock safely. I’ll go into more detail when the next video covers places, if you’d like.
Honestly, I'm not surprised Absalom has so much history. I would expect a place with a magic rock that can make you a god to have a bit of lore at least
15:30 Orzhov Guildmages!(I am wrong. It is "Teysa, Orzhov Scion" NOT the "Orzhov Guildmages") In other news, I am actually working on a shorter campaign that I am goin to be setting in Absalom, more specifically in The Puddles! It's going to deal with the Crookedtoes Goblins trying to overthrow the districts "police force". I have picked up some adventures(both Paizo and 3rd party) that I am adapting to work better for what I want to do. These videos are likely to be INVALUABLE for that campaign.
@@TheMythKeeper MtG has had some AWESOME art over the years! Hope some of the accusations of AI art usage really is just people throwing fits to hear themselves!
they probably never will due to the personalized nature of each Test of the Starstone, and the fact that it means they'll have to deal with gods that they can't use in official content (as they are your each individual PCs after they ascended) but at the same time acknowledge that they exists, which unlike a simple kingdom at a small region of the continent (Kingmaker), they can't really ignore.
Oddly, the Pathfinder 616 campaign diary has really helped me balance my workload. Those videos have broken up the style and allowed me a little more energy to keep going.
While some don't mind the longer videos, others appreciate splitting into parts, I'm okay with both. To the topic, I had to restart the video(forgot where I stopped :P). Since Inner Sea is a rough equivalent of our Mediterranean, I'll draw some comparisons with that in mind. Strategic island-wise, Absalom is somewhere between Sicily, Malta, Rhodos, Crete and Cyprus, or a combination of those. As for the city itself, there are a few candidates to consider - ancient cities like Carthage, Rome, Athens or Alexandria, and newer ones such as Venice, Ragusa(or Dubrovnik, as it's more widely known), and Constantinople, all for various reasons(ragusa, for example, gave some of their lands or properties to foreign dignitaries/rulers to foster good relations or trade agreements). Next is tour of the city itself, iirc.
Partway through Part 1 and, unrelated, had to skip back to the invitation at the video's outset to let you know anything I'd like to hear about in particular... I've got something, they were touched on very briefly in the Special Bloodlines video: the Aphorites, tied to the elemental plane of law; and the Ganzi, with ties to the primordial chaos. I would like to hear more about those. They stand out among the planar archetypes and bear little resemblance to modrons or slaad.
I _think_ these are going to get retconned slightly in Remaster, so I'm going to wait before I do any more work with this. Remaster is replacing all of the planar ancestries with a single ancestry type called Nephilim that breaks down into various subcategories - so instead of Tiefling, Aasimar, Aphorite and Ganzi - they're all Nephilim now. We'll see how it all plays out and I'll update when the dust settles.
Hi Mythkeeper, There is a person claiming to be the original artist for the Golorian map you use in the Pf2e sub reddit. Allegedly, they drew the map that Paizo used in the CRB but they retain the rights to the super high detail one you use in your content. They also left a comment on your Qadira video.
Seeing that now and responding to him. Thanks for the heads up. EDIT - all sorted with Rob. Getting permission going forward to use that map, which isn't owned by Paizo, even though he did do the Paizo maps. Thanks for the heads up on this as I'm not on reddit 😅
This is just amazing. And honestly, Absolam, has been on my “high priority” list for content. This is just fantastic and more reason why I love and respect your work and am a member here on UA-cam. ❤
Sorry its taken me so long to get around to it. This is such a dense location that it was pretty daunting. I'm pleased with what I've managed to put together here though!
Yeah, it's lore! Most of the 1E lore is still valid, with minor exceptions for moving the current year forward though you could use or ignore whatever you want!
It's a pity that Agents of Edge-watch is unplayable, believe me we tried, but after three TPKs with increasingly minmaxed characters it became clear it was just a dud. Absalom is such a fun place.

It’s the same setting, but the world is a ‘living world’ so in the last ten years some changes have happened, not just between editions but even between adventures! But you don’t have to worry about all that, the Inner Sea World Guide is still a highly reliable sourcebook.

The badger people was a new one to me. I had never come across them before.
Ah, the famous Absalom love of badgers. They even feature on their coins
Top tip: Don't get your hair stuck in tree branches.
