We've had our AWD Hybrid Calligraphy for a month now and are very impressed. The Sport mode is handy when we visit Colorado. We can select gears when in cruise control in the mountains so it's not constantly shifting up and down. The downside to the Santa Fe, everyone calls me when we're traveling to play golf.

Great review thank you.. I have been a Lexus snob for the past 14 years.. was thinking about ordering a new RX.. This Santa Fe has turned my head.. I have a test drive booked for this Saturday… I really want this car to turn me on Saturday.. I will order one if it does that…
There is nothing I don’t like at this stage. Let’s hope the drive doesn’t let me down!🤞🏻
I appreciate the time it takes to put this review together. Thank you.

@@houseofcars1973Hi Bryan Thought I would report back to you. I pick up my new Santa Fe tomorrow… like I said after 14 or so years with Lexus and 7 different Lexus cars I have brought a Hyundai… I didn’t think I would ever be saying that… The Santa Fe is brilliant. Thanks again all your reviews and hard work putting these vids together. I will of course continue to watch when you post new vids on this channel.

Great review, the best I have seen on the Santa Fe, I love all the tech and I love the rear end. I have been looking for something suitable to replace my Vito 204 Van which I have had from new since September 2010. It has served me very well all these years. I don't need another van but love the space. Hyundai Santa Fe is now top of my list and I have booked a test drive for this week. If it drives as well as you then I will place an order there and then. Thanks keep up the great work Nick

The thing they should do better is the bench. It should have 40 / 20 / 40 split and as in KIA EV 9 - so called childseat tilt for 1/3 of the bench - it allows to have childseat installed with isofix and still move the chair for 3rd row access. VW does it for whole bench in ID Buzz and for all seats in Touran - in my opinon - mthe most usefiull thing for families with small kids.

It’s a pity that it lacks a diesel engine matched to the hybrid system because, for a handful of people like me, we have home bunkered fuel stations to run our diesel fleet. So diesel, besides being even more economical, would be way more convenient for me, especially if an 80 litre fuel tank could be fitted to give potentially a thousand mile range before refilling the tank. Perhaps the Kia or Kodiak would be a better match for me? I had a 2.2 diesel Kia Sorento with their eight speed DCT up until November 2023, and it was brilliant. I think that even with the amount of thought that went into the Hyundai, the diesel with eight speed might swing it for me.

I love your videos, detailed, straight talking and tell you what you need to know. I hope and think you will be very successful on here. I have seen your Kodiaq and Santa Fe videos and am leaning towards the latter, although it’s a fair bit more expensive. I therefore have to ask how much better is the Santa Fe than the Kodiaq? We will use the car mainly for driving around town but like to do so in comfort / a spacious cabin. We won’t be towing anything. Thanks!

First of all, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I really do appreciate every view I get on here. If you can manage with the physical size of it, I'd go for the Santa Fe. I love the Kodiaq, but the Hyundai is on another level in terms of how it feels. It feels like it should be another £20k worth. Lovely materials, refined to drive, so well equipped, and of course, a much better warranty. And you get the 7 seats as standard irrespective of model. The Kodiaq is a really good car, but the Santa Fe is the better one in my opinion.

You cannot set the speed of air in every single vent hole. You only turn on/off it. Not good.

I have not had good customer service form Hyundai dealers in general. This family school run, weekend hack is attractive but once out of electric range they are thirsty and the lack of torque at higher speeds is concerning affecting overall fuel economy from the petrol only engines. Was it 36mpg in your video? Its no Land Rover and not quite fair to compare it to Discovery or above. Space is attractive but without a diesel and with poor towing performance Hyundai have missed out. Not sure I enjoyed all the praise on this one. I think you are correct insofar this is an MPV replacement and that is its market in this country.

    • @houseofcars1973
      @houseofcars1973  Місяць тому +1

I agree that the lack of diesel (or at least a more powerful engine for towing) is a oversight, but in all other respects, this is an impressive car for the market that it is aimed at. I'm currently driving the new Honda CRV e:PHEV which is more expensive than this car, has only 5 seats, is less well equipped, and whilst very nice to drive, isn't as competent overall as the Santa Fe. I can't comment on the poor customer service you have experienced though, so I am disappointed to hear that.
Its a great family car, very refined and has a quality that really is very impressive against some very good, if a little ordinary, competition. But yes, the towing capability (or lack of) is a flaw, I agree.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

90% of the people that buy SUV's with massive engines, specially Land Rovers, are not really towing anything and do not need those massive engines at all.
In the US the Land Rover is typically an upper middle class soccer mom car.. I'm sure there is a small segment of people that buys them because they need that power but i'm sure is an absolute minority. Having that into consideration the Hyundai is definitely biting the luxury SUV market with this new Santa Fe. Tech/Design/features wise it looks a decade ahead of most of the competition.
The engine in this Hyundai could be a tad bit more powerful but the reality is that is perfectly adequate for most cases and every single review of the car says the same.. the engine/torque is a non issue.

And the rear was inspired by an unholy amalgamation of all of America's 80's SUV's, themselves inspired by the industrial rear light looks of the average American truck at the time, which can be summed up as: "legally, it must have rear lights; position, size and design - up to the creative mind and expertise of the average greasy tank top trucker."
