Just watch out for the wires between the engine and tender they snap extremely easy I had to learn that the hard way… and make sure every week or 2 you lubricate you’re engines siderods depending on how much you run the engine if you don’t run it at all for a while lubricate it slightly before using it because the left over lubricant needs something fresh to activate and if you run it a lot lubricate it every week and not so much but you run it just lubricate it every 2 weeks nice first steamer! Mine was a Bachmann DCC and sound 613 J-class my second favorite in my fleet I love the gloss on it like the real J-classes it may look cheap but it’s the real one my favorite is my Bachmann DCC and sound 611! Anyways I love how you’re starting you’re railroad journey enjoy it in-fact I just got into ho-scale a year and 9 month ago enjoy it they says it’s the worlds most fun hobby!
I think you should do a another falling flag like BN I have one you can actually get it from Kato but BN SD70MAC excitative paint scheme I have one is number 9580 I bought from train show I can tell it is so reliable because I had this one for 5 years
You know that train is a northern fef-3 800 class of union pacific cause that train in real life like the others can go 75 MPH also built for freight and passenger because that train is a legend
@CraftyFoxe Jolly good show brother. I would've went for a Broadway Limited Imports model in hindsight, though they are a lot more expensive, although they do include a working smoke unit with DCC sound
It's a nice engine. I guess it's plastic housing. I have 844 made by Märklin with metal housing. It's really heavy and the trailing wheel boogie is secured to the loco instead and the speaker and electronics are built in the tender.
It's strange that Athearn didn't have the proper light that was embedded in the backside of the tender, since I feel like they have had that before with the previous locomotives that used this tender like the Challengers and Big Boys.
This engine reminds me of Shining Time Station & Thomas & Friends together and where did u get this from anyway? I would like to get something like that too.

Sweet looking locomotive! My main question is how does she do at slow speed? I have one of Athearn's Big Boys, and it struggles to maintain a slow crawl. Once it does get going it is a total powerhouse.

This steam engine is great looking model. Only worry i were to have is the wires from the engine to tender. They look on the video hanging really low.
the rear cab door is opneable (it spring loaded so when release the force, it shut back right away)

Athearns are known for their quality. Not for their low-speed crawl. You have to go with a Trix for the low speed enjoyment.
