  • Visit the Imperial City of Hue, a jewel of the location that was once the capital of the Vietnam empire. In June 1789, Nguyễn Ánh ascended the throne of unified Vietnam and proclaimed himself emperor with the name of Gia Long and decided that Huế, the hometown of the Nguyen, should be the capital. He built the Imperial Citadel, with the Imperial City inside. It remained the symbolic center of the monarchy until the end of the Nguyen dynasty in 1945 and the proclamation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. In 1947 it suffered damage during the war of liberation with the building set on fire. The citadel was also the center of clashes in 1968, suffering bombings.
Let's visit this splendid complex, in this beautiful location.
