southern custom cc is legit. i have had his roadrunner 80 kit in for some time. i haul ass in it about 30-35 mph...been in 3 different states with it so far on a cranbrook --hes been working on this engine kit specifically to trump the phantom. loves to talk shop too. definitely a reputable business

@@LAHover I was just thinking about the magneto magnet strength test you did at 19:00....You can easily make a weak magneto stronger by finding a strong neodymium magnet (stronger than magneto) and rub it several times across the magneto.
Honestly you kind of want to have a shield if not you're not going to have crank pressure but only on the outer side of the bearing the inner side of the bearing just because the inside piece could pop out at any time and possibly mess up your crank or get in your cylinder and mess it up more who is Southern customs any links to their website or something for that price it's pretty affordable just to buy one as a complete also I recommend if the motor still taking apart Port match that spacer plate basically put the spacer plate on with a sharpie line it up then just bevel/shave that crank to match that's basic plate looks a lot better than DHL reason why I chose a smolic spacer plate it was a cheaper choice and it looked a lot better quality
Actually the spacer plate The port work on Ethan Smolik, and the southern custom cc is done exactly like mine milled in a mill with a bull nose bit and creates a od shaped ledge and Isn't optional for fuel flow , DLH Performance takes great pride in that the spacer get one more step and that is to shape the port for optimum flow with no ridge . DLH Performance spacer plate flows 30% better !!!
Actually It's best to remove Both shields so that the outer rubber seal can get a little lubrication from the gas/oil mix otherwise there'd be little to no lubrication for it. I like your idea tho.
@@KenC56mm why would you care for your rubber to get lubricated for that's just a seal if it bothers you that much you could throw a little oil off and on but you rather have crank pressure have one seal on there for dirt won't get into your bearings and then the seal will protect it even more I just leave the outer on and the inner one out for I won't lock up my bearings but that just me I do things my way

Got a Minarelli with the MZ65 you probably ordered. No competition is exactly right. I definitely had a O 💩 moment the first time I throttled up. I have added some Smolik upgrades and ported and polished. That intake is trash the weld snapped and mine is limping on rtv and prayers til my CNC one gets here. But the price point is unbeatable. I ordered the triple40 and had to add the cylinder. Just that was past CCs price. The exhaust is crucial and I hear the the yasuni R or swap shop copy is a much better fit to the back pressure needs of the minarelli. I don’t see myself going back to the triple40 or worse yd100 except for novelty and a headache 🤣
@@LAHover I would also be concerned if I didn't know how an impact screwdriver works. Most of the force is going into the twisting motion. Unless you try to use it with a 5lb sledge hammer, I don't see how it would cause any damage. It's just a tap, not a full force hulk smash. I bet that's the tool they use to assemble it at the factory.

I just wanted to throw this out there ..I was looking at the intake bolt pattern..it's calls for 48mm which is for a pz 19 -22...but the Vm20 has a 48mm-50.8mm intake so I'm look further in this........
Do a review on the ms440 built by Ken Hinson. I just bought one have not used it yet. He tweaks it pretty good he puts a tighter spring in the clutch. He really puts a Ms 440 to an ms440 on steroids.
I'm told these motors will be available mid February-March from www.southerncustomcc.com Also keep in mind that this is just his target price, personally I predict they will be a priced a bit higher, but I don't know yet. Note: I have some mixed information, I'm not 100% sure if this kit will be the motor only, Or if it will be a full kit. I'll update this when I know for sure.

A seal on the inside of the crank bearing would be very bad...it would keep lubrication from getting in the bearing. A shield wouldn't be as bad but I would NOT want one on the inside of my crank bearings. A seal on the outside is virtually mandatory...you don't want gases escaping from the crankcase.
You say the difference is not comparable to the china doll but is it enough of a difference to justify trippling the price? One of the best things about this hobby is the cheap price of parts $300 is not cheap imo

Brother you will be sadly disappointed with life span of the miñarelli and it's going to suck for trail riding unless you got a 50-56t sprocket but those motors won't live long the intake will fail very quickly as well you will have to spend $400 to get that motor right and then another $200-$300 on a pipe for you to even get a couple months out of it. I want you to got a motor from Ken hinson a ms460 52mm with a bucket clutch and you will have all the power in the woods you need and it will be just as fast top end as the stage6 I have proof of that now that's the vertical minnarelli no pipe on that miñarelli is bad to they get there power from the pipe and you need a ktm65 ignition to put out the rpms as well I have them all and tried them all. I really would like to see you run a ms 460 52mm the bearings also won't last on a miñarelli like they will on the 460 my ms440 50mm with a mukuni vm24 carburetor catnip supercharged cdi oz magneto and a kx85 pipe was more powerful and topped out at 58mph on a 36t sprocket as the malossi sport vertical minnarelli and the stage6 vertical minnarelli no joke you get the motor I will send you a header and kx85 pipe that will spring mount like it's supposed to and all I ask is you pay shipping and give me a shout-out you can hit me up on Facebook Sean pesano or mechanic on the go. On Facebook easier to get to me by Sean pesano though I wish you luck with that miñarelli but there has been nothing good on life span
La hover like I said dude ditch the g2 reeds If you have a minarelli because the g2 is not as high quality and it’s made for China dolls and the minarelli reeds are made for the minarelli and better quality
Stock engines work just fine. Till Tha fix the 85.. No point fine and aftermarket engine engine if it's worse than the stock China doll. All for more hp, but the won't last.. so that's the point. Just buy a cheap kit and be happy.. Cause there is no way in hell after watching all the UA-cam videos that I would want to buy one of them engines for it only last a few months

@@LAHover A lot of other people post China doll videos. But for what I've seen. the Phantom 85 is junk stock, needs rebuilt Before you even put it on the bike. And out of 5 Phantom 85 jugs 3 of them will have different porting.or needs re ported to fix the timing.. I have a stock China doll and it runs fine. Starts right up in idols runs like a champ. And only goes 29mph till I can fix the Vibration at top speed then she should pick up more mile an hour

Yes, it's strong but sets a bit wide on the these thin motorized bike sprockets. On tight builds like my F-Zero it did not work out well.
One last thing for the squish gap... could be made better by not using base gaskets right ..just use ultra grey??

10:55 use an impact screwdriver for that. They're inexpensive and will break that screw loose on a single tap.
They will also bend your crank and knock you con rod bearings out of wack... Use as a last resort

So I have a PWK carburetor but when I go full throttle while JUST driving it bogs like it's lean whil I'm stopped it does not bog?
My engine is still making the whining sound. I already check the other parts. The block is the one I didn't check.
What could it be?
Head gasket leak. Tighten the head bolts down and that sound will disappear.
Did you lube the drivetrain? That bevel gear setup gets really whiny when dry.

Stud spacing is off. Most builders use saw jugs on yd bottom ends instead.
