  • Hi everyone, I'm Maria (she/her) and I’ve recently published my first knitting pattern: the Maman Sweater. A classic chic, oversized striped sweater that will hopefully become a staple in your wardrobe. The Bébé Sweater is the junior version, which uses the same techniques. In the "Maman & Bébé Sweater” series I’m explaining all key techniques used in the pattern. I hope you’ll find it helpful. If not email support@wildknitsglasgow.com for more in-depth pattern support.

Also, how many rows do I knit total befor turning the hem up. I noticed you didn't do any striping after you split front from back.

It’s always double the final length of the hem. It says how many rows/cm/inches to knit in the pattern to create the final folded hem length for the Maman Sweater. If you have specific questions on the pattern always feel free to email support@wildknitsglasgow.com

How did you finish the sweater edge on bottom. Is this alternative to ribbing?

Hi, it is a folded hem. There’s a tutorial up for it on the same playlist. And yes, it’s an alternative to ribbing!

I have never seen someone purl like that.

I switched to this way of purling and never looked back 😂 my purls are so much faster now and making ribbing is less tedious

I understand on row 2 at the end, you knit the yo & the slst tog, but on row 3 (purl side) at the end, I purl the yo & slst tog...correct?

No - they’re knitted together as well. This will create the neat edge that you see in the pictures (in the pattern).
