dear sarah, i like your reviews 👍🏻 one question: you say sport as "schport". is this intentional or common in your area? i do like it very much how fresh (and at the same time dry with a wink) based on real knowlede you present it. best regards 🌷
I own a 2023 CX-5 non-turbo and just picked up a 2024 Mazda 3 turbo premium plus. I really liked the torque of the turbo as I can use it in every day driving. I even prefer the Mazda control module in the 3 over the CX 5. Averaging 30 miles per gallon in mixed use driving. Drove 15 hours in the 3 and when I arrived at my destination, I was not fatigued. That is a great compliment to Mazda. I drive over 50,000 miles a year in multiple vehicles and the Mazda is by far the most comfortable vehicle I have been in. The hatchback does have a enormousblinds spot. I just use the safety suite and the warning lights on the passenger mirror to assist. Interior is equal or better than the Audi A3. While expensive, it is a great car.
I wish more people would review the manual transmission, it's very smooth which makes it feel great for a daily driver and feels like it fits the whole design philosophy and heavy R&D they did for the driver comfort / overall experience and vibe they had for the car (unlike the auto transmission which can be clunky shifting or feel sluggish when not in sport) and it's the lightest of the options with the best MPG but still faster and more responsive than the other variants (EXCLUDING THE TURBO). It makes a great driver focused chill but fun driving experience. Plus the interior and exterior are just stunning and nothing feels out of place. it's a very cohesive and beautiful design. I also didn't like the bose speakers at first until I tuned it to better suit my music and let it break in a bit. I'm not at 52k miles and the frequency response sounds much better, and the bass punches at a wider range of frequencies which makes it sound great (when I first got it it sounded like the bass response didn't have a very wide range at all).
By the way, Sarah, I am watching this video of you opinion this car today because I want to go shopping for one. I am impressed. Thanks for all the information you are awesome.
Thanks! Also for giving us the fuel economy values in l/100km. I'm pretty pleased with my 2l manual drive base trim sedan and I agree with your conclusions. (It's holding itself well after 3 years.)
Hey Sara, Your handling analysis is spot on. When Mazda cut costs by dropping the independent rear suspension for a torsion bar, the previous precise and balanced handling was seriously compromised. I also found the styling of the rear C pillar section and hatch needlessly compromises both rear vision and the interior; especially the rear seat. The whole "modern" design lacks the practical space and super composed ride / handling combination of my old 1990 Civic SI. The extra ZOOM ZOOM power is nice in a straight line but without a suspension that can put it properly on the road through the turns, it suffers from shrunken muscle car wanna be aspirations. At $25,000 , you might put up with limits. At $39,000 you wish they didn't base this sporty hatch's engineering on a bean counter's solution to competing with a civic. And after recently doing a walnut shell cleaning of a direct injected BMW and cursing for the last hour of this mess of new maintenance required every 30,000 miles, I don't think I want a DI car for street use. Toyota is installing port injected idle systems to it's GDI engines and while two systems add complexity and noise in their case from the position of the loud HP pump on top of the engine, it beats this mess of carbon, but not the oil dilution with water and gas contamination from high pressure Direct Injection and low tension rings. And then there's the oil consumption. My old port injected stick shift Accord gets 26 mpg and drops about 1/2 a quart of oil every 3000 miles. Manufacturers (Like Ford) are now telling customers that 1 quart every 700 miles is NORMAL. That's over eight times higher consumption. In search of better fuel economy for a cleaner environment, we have embraced burning oil on a massive scale now that this design is in millions of cars. A Boondoggle interpretation of the CAFE regulations. A new EPA spec on excessive oil consumption of no more than one quart every 2000 miles for a normal 36,000 miles warranty sound reasonable? Love from NYC Larry PS Great boots.
I was considering buying one of these...until I took it on a test drive around the DC beltway. Your comment about high speed stability is spot on. I don't know what is going on but quick moves too avoid Maryland drivers at speeds in excess of the speed limit (because who drives that around here) seem to really freak the car out. It's just a really off platform. I wanted to like it because it looks SO GREAT.
Big foot needs love ❤... lol lol... Love it. Mazda produce great cars. I was lucky to own two MX5's and they were fantastic fun, especially throwing into corners. Great review as always.
The basic design has been around a while now, but unlike other traditional designed cars isn't looking as tired, but lets see what they do with the redesign.
Cool review! I have an MS3, and a 2023 non-turbo Mazda3 hatchback. Completely different cars. In fact why I bought the M3 Hatchback. I actually don't mind the rear suspension because I can get it to break out when I want to. It will drift around corners where the MS3 is on rails.
You fail to realize that premium plus equates to super secret double O spy edition! The rear differential rotates down and those barrels release a variety of ordnance to meet the needs of the driver. I mean vroom vroom!
Thanks for another informative review. A bit of tail out tendency should add to the handling characteristics, given the normal understeering nature of front and four wheel driven cars! Nothing more fun than a front wheel drive car that moves its tail around on lift off.... Maybe a bit of a shock for the unaware 😮

Thorough, informative and fun review as usual. No USB in the backseat? Major miss, Mazda! Thank you. Plus, Everlong on the sound system!
dear sarah, i like your reviews 👍🏻
one question: you say sport as "schport". is this intentional or common in your area?
i do like it very much how fresh (and at the same time dry with a wink) based on real knowlede you present it. best regards 🌷
While expensive, it is a great car.
with the back seats folded down, what kind of difference do you see between the 3 and the cx5?
I work for Stellantis and I can tell you goofy counter balance blocks are for vibration
Those small odd blocks are where you put the rockets that you launch at left lane campers!
Great review! I have to check and see if heated seats and steering wheel are avail or optional in Canada. Cheers from West Coast Canada!
Wonderful review - thankyou, Sarah.
Sarah, pls, ur reviewing like every car i care about rn 😭😭
Thanks!
Also for giving us the fuel economy values in l/100km.
I'm pretty pleased with my 2l manual drive base trim sedan and I agree with your conclusions.
(It's holding itself well after 3 years.)
Hey Sara,
Your handling analysis is spot on.
Love from NYC

PS Great boots.
Love that you reviewed this. Mazda's been making some great cars for those of us without superyachts. 👍
You looked very nice on this video. Not too crazy about the car but you did a great job on the review.
i got this as a loaner vehicle, this shit was SOO fun to drive
I was considering buying one of these...until I took it on a test drive around the DC beltway. Your comment about high speed stability is spot on. I don't know what is going on but quick moves too avoid Maryland drivers at speeds in excess of the speed limit (because who drives that around here) seem to really freak the car out. It's just a really off platform. I wanted to like it because it looks SO GREAT.
love the mazda3. i have a ‘23 premium with the mt 🥰 the exact same colors as the one you reviewed, too😛
Love you Sarah, the best car reviewer on UA-cam, with the best sense of humor.
Great review as always Sarah! ❤
Forgot to turn on the sound. did not recognize until the end of the video. Enjoyed it! going to find a quiet lonely place now.
Interior , fuel economy and the entertainment controls is why I bought my 19 3 sedan when it came out, great commuter vehicle
Love your reviews, looking forward to your next one
You mere mortals will never experience what it's like to chuck a car around like Sarah can... 💃...😍 that is Right
Thanks for another informative review. A bit of tail out tendency should add to the handling characteristics, given the normal understeering nature of front and four wheel driven cars! Nothing more fun than a front wheel drive car that moves its tail around on lift off.... Maybe a bit of a shock for the unaware 😮
Um, no. Thats not what’s happening here.
@@SarahnTunedits all fault of downenginered rear suspension at cx30 and 3((
Copy that. I trust the seat of your pants! 😀
Snap oversteer is never fun. It's what gives older mustangs the reputation of hitting crowds. IRS really is amazing.
I _still_ have my 2006 Mazda 3 MPS (aka Mazdaspeed 3); lovely car to drive. Torque steer? That's part of its "character". 😁
