A lot of times I feel like I’m one of the few people who ABSOLUTELY loved NA He-Man. The whole aesthetic, the music, the designs...something about it spoke to me and to this day it’s still my favorite and I watch the DVD sets constantly. Flipshot was also my favorite character in the show and when the Classics figure was released I did not hesitate to grab it! I do wish we got a Classics version of the armored Skeletor still. I don't have strong memories of it, but I do remember Skeletor being very different from his original version, including being way more chill and quippy. Strangely, I was more than okay with that.

I'm so glad we got Darius and Mara. Darius along with Batros and Calix were my big wants from Classics when it came to characters that hadn't had toys before. I just wish we'd gotten the rest of NA.
I think my personal Wish List for MOTUC still had over 100 items on it when the line trailed off. Crossing all available fingers for a relaunch in 2028 . . . .

I love new adventures and was so glad they showed up on Classics, was always fun to see how they would turn out and what parts they would use. Gutted we didn’t see Staghorn in the line though!
I slept on New Adventures back in the day, but looking at these designs I can't blame people for loving these guys. Cartoon characterization aside, this guy does make for a dashing looking customer
I was never a fan of New Adventures. I tried to get into it with my son, but we weren't feeling it. That said, I appreciate how it fits in with Classics' continuity.
I had 5 characters when I was a kid and I think I got He-Man and Slush Head in a 2 pack that came with a VHS of the first episode. To this day that’s still the only episode I’ve ever watched of this line. I don’t think it ever aired where I grew up.
I've only seen maybe two episodes of NA in my entire life, but I always thought this guy's space suit looked cool. And with that little backstory on his design originating with Major Matt Mason and Big Jim, I have so much more respect for Flicarius over here. Lucky that he's one of the easier Classics figures to find relatively cheap. In my head, or in my personal canon really, his real name is Icarius (as on the bio), but "Flipshot" was his attempt at a superhero-style codename. He kept trying to get his friends to call him that like he was a superhero, and they eventually gave in just to shut him up about it.
I just got Galactic Skeletor on bbts for $20. At first I got it mainly for the extra Faker head. However, I LOVE the Skeletor now. Already ordered He-Ro 2. Scott, you did a bang up job on MOTUC. I wish I had bought Scareglow, but I was trying to keep JLU going. Optik is a badass figure and so “toyetic “.
Never seen that big jim " trap jaw" blew my mind. I love this channel. I don't have any MOTU I got to many other collections eating my wallet so this channel helps me get a little He- Man fix.
I actually had every figure, & the ship that my Dad got me for xmas that year, thinking the line would takeoff, unfortunately I wasn't too into them myself compared to the original line, & it faded out quickly. Great Vid as usual Guru.
NA is a far better series than it gets credit for. It was just such a departure from the Filmation series. But as a little side adventure before returning to Eternia and the classic characters it's a really interesting corner of the Masters universe with an interesting bunch of characters. I wish we'd gotten them all in classics.
I really wish we could have gotten at least figures of all the characters that were made in the vintage run of this line. I'm great full for what we got but there were about 12 more figures we needed to get the whole roster
I'm hoping that Masterverse will address the NA guys we didn't get in Classics! I noticed something interesting about that picture you showed of Captain Lazer. It's the same body that Mattel ended up using for the vintage 12 inch Cylon Centurion figure, only they added the removable chrome chest plate, the new head, and a new clear barrel on the light-up pistol hand! Now that's recycling!

I remember seeing the toys as a kid at TRU, Macy’s, and so forth and thinking what the heck is this? But when it came to DVD, it was about time I gave it a chance and was glad I did. I just recently rewatched it colinceidently. Loved the toy from the get go and the same with your channel. With our shared heritage I have even greater appreciation for our “ancestral” ;) blend of humor....

They looked nothing like the original MOTU in size or style, so I gave up on them. But bring them into the 21st Century and get the Four Horsemen Studios to sculpt them so they'll fit in with the rest of the MOTU Classics? Yes, please! And you can add my name to the list of people disappointed by not getting the entire NA roster produced.

Ever notice there's a lot of _az names? Saz, Gaz, Kaz... Anyway, outside of Palace Guards, I probably have more Icarius figures that any other. I bought many copies of him to take parts from and make Galactic Protector-style nameless army men. Even if you don't love the character or the source material, he's just an undeniably cool looking figure. He has the retro-future thing going too, with those Jetsons-style ridges around his shoulders. He looks like he could be an in-universe superhero in the Fallout series of computer games.
Hey Scott possible new video topic, what is exactly the fine line with happy accidents with regards to likeness rights. What would have happened for example if the 4HM decided to sculpt flipshot with a bill murray looking head or for fun sake at the time to make a head that could’ve reminded you of Dolph Lunderin or would that have been too close a connection to the property to raise way too many red flags. Does this mean any potential celeb face can be made as a happy accident if that person has zero connection to a property?
'New Adventures' is so underrated & Skeletor was an awesome character in this, I think the problem with the cartoon was that it really didn't transition from the Filmation series with the original 'MOTU' characters looking a bit too different from their 'Filmation' look (especially) in the first episode, thus it didn't feel like it a 'proper' continuation (this may have been a similar factor with the 'New Adventures' toys, being a smaller scale to the 'MOTU' toys). I also feel it was such a shame that when they rebooted (and then cancelled) the 'MOTU' series in 2000-2005, that they didn't eventually continue into their version of the 'New Adventures' era as part of the reboot series and have that transition between eras, I wonder what that would've looked like if they did..?
I would like to see an updated version of New Adventures maybe then Skeletor will not look so comical maybe more like his Classic Toy, Intersting thing taking a toy line idea and reusing it over and over again saves on new ideas Never really understood his Name the Flipshot was ok but did not understand Icarius.

I always wondered if there was any influence on flipshot from ace mccloud from centurions. I know that toyline was kenner, so unlikely there was much designer crossover, but they are similar in design I think

I loved Icarius despite not being aware of the new TV show at all (maybe it didn't air here?). The reason I wanted the figure was that he looked like Major Hawk Masterson from Captain Power. Funnily, I look at the New Adventures figures today and find them clunky and ugly. OTOH the Classics figures look like I remembered them. So, great work on that front!

The fact that you weren't able to get to all the NA figures is my one disappointment with Classics. Being born in 85, most of my vintage MOTU figures were hand me downs, so NA is where my memories are as far as buying He-Man figures in the store.
I think I was too young when it first aired to really appreciate it, in other words, I didn't like it at all and I've already moved on to Bravestarr ;)

Icarius was used in Europe because Flipshot is an english word.
Flipshot should be one of The Centurions. “They’re smaller.” But hey at least they got rid of the rubber joints!

The fact that you weren't able to get to all the NA figures is my one disappointment with Classics. Being born in 85, most of my vintage MOTU figures were hand me downs, so NA is where my memories are as far as buying He-Man figures in the store.
I do wish we could have kept the line going long enough to do this!

I can‘t see how/why names like Insyzor work in German. Actually they don‘t. Tuskador or Sagitar would have been fine.

As an adult it was that much harder to watch! Queen Marlena with BLUE hair? Our luck, the classics line will be revived and we’ll get a blue haired queen Marlena!
