Styling My New Haircut | Shaggy Long Hair

- I recently got a day off in the salon and FINALLY got it cut. Whew, feels good. Have you visited the hair salon yet since places have reopened? I know so many of my clients have been leaving feeling amazing after their refresh and I know I did after my friend/coworker Tommi worked her magic on my hair. I really wanted to bring back some edge with my cut by asking her to give me a mullet/shag vibe but keep the length overall. Definitely a challenge but she nailed it!
This is just a quick little video of how I've been styling my hair lately, just to show you your technique doesn't have to be perfect. Especially for a style like this, being undone is part of the "look".

I got the same cut and was looking for a good way to style it and found you!! My hair is pretty fine so I am hoping to add more volume!! I still have to order a regular curing iron as I only have a flat iron and 3 prong iron.

Really enjoyed your video! I am in the process of slowly cutting my hair to get that long shag too! A 1” wand is probably a good size but sometimes you can get a set to Chang else out. As far as brand I honestly don’t have a particular brand, I generally love GHD for investment and hot tools for more affordable. Hope this helps!

I'm hoping this video helps you! I'm unsure what you mean by keratin help with the cut? Keratin is a protective protein and has more to do with hair structure. If you are having trouble styling your haircut you would need to pick up some styling products like mousses and texture products. Hope this helps. Thanks!
@@RunningwithMakeup yeah usually when I get keratin done my hair is so silky straight but now that I have shaggy hair cut I am wondering if straight hair would look good with this hair cut.
I think straight hair would look just fine, you may find you need to use some dry texture sprays to get definition and contrast. The shag haircut is meant to be texturized and if your hair is too straight depending on your natural hair texture the layers may fall flat together and not be the desired look you are going for.

I love this haircut! how would I ask for this haircut when I go to my stylist?
You would ask for a shag/mullet combo and explain exactly how long you want to keep your hanging length and how short you want your shortest layers and they should be able to do a cut to that style specifically for you and your hair type. :)
You could also show your stylist the still picture of this video!
