Great ideas Sarah. Well done and thank you very much. I love the Princess and the Pea story. One of my granddaughters has a framed picture of it. It would be lovely to see more of your beautiful work relating to it. Thank you. Xx 💕💕
Sarah, you actually brought me to tears with your words about "mistakes" and imperfections. How true they are, but often we are so self-critical. Even though I make mistakes, I try not to fret about them but embrace them as just as progressive steps along the way. Thank you for saying that. I may even listen to that again!
In this very difficult world to live in, it makes me very happy that someone (and many others who follow you) spend their time (or a significant part of it) doing something sole purpose is to make the world more beautiful. I wish those who cause us so much trouble in the world would take up something as life enhancing, creative and beautiful as what you do every day. Thank you for restoring my faith in the possibilities of the human race and for your fantastic videos and all the love and attention that you put into sharing your knowledge and work. (And thanks you your behind the scenes husband as well.)
Very kind words Mary, it's wonderful what humankind can create, why does it also have such a desire to destroy as well? I love that embroidery can unite us all around the world. x
Another wonderful video. Thank you. I would definitely love to see more of the princess and the pea project. I have learned so much from your videos and always look forward to the next one.
Well of course we’d like to see a video on the Princess and the Pea bed! So cool! Great video - i have a drawer of embroideries languishing. I think i’ll try some book covers. I have young nieces, too, who would love a butterfly jar.
Absolutely love all the different ways to finish and display your beautiful embroidery! I wish my mom was still around to see! She taught me how to sew and embroider. I know she would have been delighted!
👏👏 for the princess and the pea, the butterfly. I like the poppy flowers book and the bag, as well. Personally i have made 2 pillow covers. The white cushion you have made is so similar to my mom's bridal bedding. She had made the whole set.and it is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Your work is extraordinarily pretty, neat, creative and unique! Thank you for sharing them, allowing them to inspire us. I would enjoy learning more about the exquisite princess bed. There is surely so much to see about such a remarkable and elaborate piece.
I love your work, it's always so inspiring. My sister in law loves ladybirds. I'm seriously thinking of embroidering her a small one for Christmas to make it into a brooch. Possibly will use slubbed silk as the ground fabric. Now I need to discover what our niece Zoe particularly loves in th animal kingdom. Hopefully not too big and it can be made into a brooch too. Thank you for that inspiration.
Another fabulous video Sarah, it's always so good to see what you've put together for us each time. I particularly loved your goldwork/stumpwork finishings..... and a definite "yes, please" to seeing more of your Princess and the Pea piece.💜
What a great video idea! I do quite a few purses and pin cushions using interesting shapes as display. I’ve also done tea cozies as fun gifts featuring my embroidery samples. I’d love to see more of your Princess and the Pea piece.
Yes Please! I would love to see a detailed video about your Princess and the Pea make! That is absolutely fantabulous! The butterfly display is also ingenious! I am curious about the back side of your blackwork napkins. I am currently re-familiarizing myself with embroidery and am making some tea towels. But honestly the back of my work is not pleasing to the eye. LOL. I wonder if applying some interfacing or something to the back when I am done would make it a little more aesthetically pleasing.
You can deal with the back in a few ways; yes you could iron on some interfacing on the back afterwards (I wonder if this would this come off in the wash though?). Check out my video on how to start and finish your threads to help make the back look a bit neater. I actually just made the stitches as neat as possible and didn't worry about the back not looking like the front but if you are dong a counted technique you could look at Holbein Stitch which is meant to look the same on the front and the back!
Lovely work! I'm inspired to try the concertina books and have some pieces done that would be perfect for them. Would love to see more of the Princess and the Pea and how it was constructed.
AWESOME !!! I've made a piece to put on a card that was the only way I've made it different ;) I'd LOVE to see how the bed was made ;) I'm going to watch the book making now ;) Thanks for sharing ;D
Great video! I always struggle on how to present my work! I love the 3D works. I’ve been making lots of beaded and blackwork brooches so I can use the inspiration! I’m still learning though.
As I,ve declared - no more nails in the walls! I,ve done some small embroideries, put them over oval card shapes and stuck them on a ribbon and hung them below existing picture so they hang in a line - I,m sure this is a Victorian idea so nothing new under the sun!!! Love your embroideries x
You can't tease us like this and expect to get away so easily ;) What - is - that - bed?! I know I've seen sketches, but how did it come about, how did you finish that? More, please!
I love your work, Sarah, you are an inspiration! I like doing embroidery on t-shirts which I can then wear. I also embroidered the school logo on my daughters' uniform (not the most enjoyable project but got my stitching skills into something practical 😅). Do you have a video how you made the piece with the dragonflies that you show at 2:16? It's awesome.
I did some stitching on a short and forgot to include it in the video Chrissy! Doh! There is a video on the goldwork dragonfly here: ua-cam.com/video/qjECqbauPm4/v-deo.html and I'm thinking about doing one on the silk ribbon dragonflies!
Two more possibilities: Christmas ornaments (and if you cannot do front to back the same, which most of us cannot) then one can put on a plain backing as you did on the books). And, if anyone out there does miniatures or dollhouses, you can do what I am doing and make screens, tapestries, bed covers etc. In 1/12 scale, they are actually possible. Full-sized ones would be very daunting indeed.
i turned some of mine into bags. at first it was just to do something with them, but then I made three more bags with the intent of making them into bags. I'm working on a blanket now.
Wow! I never even realized all the things you could do with embroidery. Love the butterflies in the jar! So realistic looking. Super creative
Wow Sarah! Thank you so much for this video. Fascinated to see more of the princess and the pea bed. Keep up the good work.x

They sound lovely! Of course if you are a beading person then there are even more finishing options!
