First I’ve heard the guy speak and I believe him. He came across as candid and sincere. Good on you, James, for having the courage to do this interview.
@@saffy565 It went to a court, a civil one. Do you really think the judge just thought "Aww she cute" and found in favour of her? This isn't an episode of The Simpsons y'know.
Looks to me like he thinks he is but that doesn't mean he's right. He seems to think it's normal taking a drunk lass home and double teaming her in a strangers flat. He touches on being aware of getting into potentially bad situations and that's what I'd like to have heard more of. He is still showing no remorse for the impact it had on her.
I Worked alongside a man named Andy Quinn who was the Clyde kitman for a number of years and worked with David at Clyde for a couple of seasons and he had nothing but good things to say about this lad, I genuinely believe that he is innocent
I have no idea if she was too drunk to sufficiently consent or not. My problem with this case is that the criminal justice system that we have spent centuries building can be ignored for a civil court which does not hold to the basic global(almost) standard of 'beyond reasonable doubt'. If there was not enough evidence to even bring it to trial in a criminal court then that should be the end of it.
We have a unique court service. One of a kind. Believe it or not... The civil claim in law actually worked in his favour? Had he met the threshold and the evidence was strong enough to be put before a criminal jury, it would have been a whole lot worse. The incident occurred, of that there is no dispute. So even though there was not evidence to convict beyond a reasonable doubt, there was enough evidence to show on the balance of probabilities? Like if two men have a sexual encounter with a woman, and that woman was incapable of either giving or withholding consent because she has passed out due to intoxication, then it is up to the judge to convict or not, based on the balance of probabilities. The balance of probabilities this time showed they never sought consent. There was no balance of probabilities saying she consented, all evidence pointed to guilt not innocence? Even if the guilt was only proven to lesser degree than meets the criminal threshold, the balance of probabilities based on evidence put before the judge did show guilt?
@@howdo1govern995 Aye well, that was not brought up in evidence, so cannot be used to balance the probabilities? Nor do i think he means to use that narrative in order to clear his name? None the less, he is is correct in saying he is not a rapist. RAPIST is just the misconception attached to his guilt verdict for an altogether separate sexual offence he was found guilty of committing... On the balance of probabilities.
@@falconhoof3421the evidence was put before a criminal jury first. The evidence was not there. You shouldn’t then get to play mum v dad and go running to civil court to get your payout with no real evidence required. That’s the facts.
According to the court documents she remembered having various drinks (eg JD n coke and double JD and coke) and meeting the accused, but then her drunken amnesia strangely (some might say conveniently) kicked in right at the point when she became flirtatious, provocative and kissing the accused, something she had to concede in court when shown cctv. She was supposed to phone her brother to pick her up and had text him earlier in the evening, but then didn't and wouldn't answer his calls and texts, but did text other people. Then ends up in an unfamiliar flat and phones her brother, who has been driving around at night worried and looking for her, to pick her up. Is she going to tell him that she was cheating on her boyfriend and ignored his calls to go to the flat with the accused, or is she going to say "I remember nothing of the night" and excuse herself from self responsibility and agency?
funny that cos a girl in the same town who was given a lift home from the Room At The Top nightclub by a guy also claimed she had been r worded all because she had a boyfriend and didnt want to explain she went home in another guys car when drunk. Lucky for him other girls backed him up. FYI the taxi driver in this case asked her if she was ok to go with the two guys inside the house and she said yes.

Taking this interview in isolation David deserves a lot of credit for speaking out, Sturgeon and the SNP guy Jordan Linden have a cheek to give David a hard time look what has happened to both of them. It’s a shame what has happened here, David and the girl are both victims but he deserves to get on with his life.
How is the girl a victim?? She needs to be in jail. She has ruined a man’s life. She knew what she was doing and wanted an easy payout. I get you don’t want to offend anyone but she is not to be let off here. If he didn’t rape her then she is not the victim, she is a disgusting human and he is the real victim.
No one knows exactly what happened, but one thing is sure. If women weren't whoring around off their faces wearing next to nothing this wouldn't be such a big issue.
In my eyes and ears this guy is telling the truth,no stop, start issues with questions,he's very comfortable being interviewed and seems to remember everything that happened. No bruises,no scratches on either the 2 of them. Sometimes woman tell lies.
Good honest interview. I’ve often wondered why he never spoke out sooner. Hope it all works out in the end for Goodie, Brilliant you gave him the platform to tell his story. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I hope David eventually gets justice and seeks peace for what must be a horrible 12 years he’s went through. Absolutely shocking the society we live in today, such a double standard society that preaches mental health and advocates for second chances, yet an innocent man is never given a second chance and constantly abused.
@@celtictothecore1888yeah, I understand what you are saying but the fact there wasn't even enough evidence to go to court does speak volumes, listen he might have done it but you do have to take in the fact there wasn't enough evidence so in law terms, he is innocent because I hear people saying that just because there isn't enough evidence doesn't mean the person is innocent but you could say that about every court case, there have been people found guilty that weren't and vice versa in a democratic society that's how it is so he can say that he is innocent and nobody can really disprove that
Charges like this should only ever be heard in a criminal court.where he had all charges dropped against him. What is criminal is that a guys life can be destroyed and a huge part of that is due to civil court. All about money. Poor guy had everything stripped away from him , the media were disgusting towards him as a young lad. And he was never found guilty of anything in a court of law. It can happen to any guy out there, especially young guys.i hope judgement isn't too harsh towards him, he doesnt deserve any of it. it could be your loved one in the same position. Very sad.
Exactly but had he had lots of money and was of a different colour things would have been different.. look at MG for example and he got done crystal clear on camera yet a little bit of money thrown here and there and boom.. career back on track 🤦♂️
The prosecutor didn’t believe there was enough to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was guilt but the court did believe he was guilty on the balance of probabilities.
@@johnmctim7742 what is this for a bullshit outcome 😂😂 “On the grounds of Rape, we find the defendant neither guilty or not guilty. What we do find is that the defendant isn’t guilty of anything but he is also not innocent of anything so we won’t actually make a justified decision and instead we will leave it up to the defendant to go about a life that isn’t worth living and they themselves must find ways to prove their innocence” 🤦♂️🤦♂️ the judicial system is so messed up but like I said, had he been black and had a lot of money, this wouldn’t have been the outcome and he would still be getting paid each week by his club and they would be looking at sending him out on loan to re-establish his career 🤦♂️

Bet Denise was buzzing when she thought she was getting £100k only to find out it’s was mostly given to the solicitors 😂. This is quite clearly a BS story and David’s life has effectively been ruined. I read the statements and she hardly even drank anything or at least enough to get selective amnesia anyway. How this guy has been vilified like he has is beyond words. Denise got fucked by two football players, saw pound signs tried to take it to court failed with that then went to civil court, which as David’s lawyer said THIS IS A MONEY COURT! but David in my mind you are guilty of one thing, not wearing a rubber with slappers like that. Read the comments everyone actually believes him and not her smh.
Denise got the 100k that’s a fact the legal fees was extra that’s how it cost him 170k the boys life was ruined in a night of madness he was a lad but didn’t deserve that

Well done James for a candid interview. Goodie, proud of you for speaking up & telling your side of the story. I hope people can allow you & your family to get on with life now. All the very best.
His body language is too relaxed for someone who has something to hide and he answered all the questions with ease. Well this is the second time this month I've been reminded not to judge someone based on the written press/media, this guy seems very genuine and it would seem to be a disgrace that he's lost his career.

Great interview James and it’s time people end the witch hunt on this guy. He’s not been convicted, he’s not offended since, he has a clean record. If that’s not what rehabilitation is, then what is. He’s just wanting to get on with his life and support his family and play football. When someone has had suicidal thoughts, it’s clear that they are struggling with life. The SNP, the government and now all the councils are trying to continue to ruin a man’s life even to the point where he might end his own life. It all needs to stop and by the councils coming out saying they will ban any team who signs him are telling the world we don’t support rehabilitation for any offenders and that we will continue to ruin peoples life’s to the point where they commit suicide. It’s truly disgusting and they should be ashamed, hopefully this interview shows all the virtue signal callers out there that he isn’t a dangerous man and most of all a rapist. I for one was one of many fans who gave him it tight back in the day and this interview has shown me my own naïveté on the matter. I like to apologise to David and feel terrible that I joined the many thousands who said such chants at him, without really seeing how this could effect him. James, you need to do better research before these interviews. You should have known what powers the civil court has and the difference between Civil and Criminal courts. You never brought up the Taxi driver's statement. It would have been good to see how Goodwillie responded to this.
What a humble guy. I’m a victim of rape. And I believe him. I think this girl behaved in a way she regretted after not getting the attention she hoped for after being left alone. She was likely angry and felt humiliated. She’s been convinced by a lawyer that she was too drunk to consent. The law in this regard is incredibly ropey, but fortunately they’ve had cctv evidence and witness statements to prove she was capable of holding a conversation. It is situations like this that make it so difficult for real victims of rape to get justice. Being believed, when there are women abusing the system, is not easy. I hope when I get my day in court, the evidence I provide of him admitting I will see me through. I’m glad David is settled and has his family for support, but I feel so sad for him that he is trying to maintain the status quo. He’s entitled to feel angry and also entitled to not care how his accuser is feeling if he knows that he is innocent. I’d be furious if my son was falsely accused of rape just because some daft girl allowed her own mental health issues to warp her sense of reality. I hope this interview helps to turn this man’s life around for the better. Sorry it’s a long one, but it is a matter close to my heart and justice for the innocent is of paramount importance.
Good attempt at trying to rehabilitate David Goodwillie. Your glossing over his criminal record of several assaults (“boys will be boys…” er - no, most young lads do not put people into hospital with grevious bodily assaults!) and emphasising that your conscience was clear about interviewing him because his conviction was in a civil case rather than a criminal court (are you not aware of how difficult it is under Scottish law to prosecute rape and sexual assault cases?). By the way, James, you owe an apology to the people of Stirling for describing it as a shit area: better people than you or I have come from Raploch, Stirling. Your soft questions and chummy approach in the interview do make David Goodwillie come across as personable decent gadj. But the men he beat up wouldn’t agree with you. And as for the rape situation… if you read the civil case report with evidence from nightclub staff, taxi driver, medical staff who attended the victim and ask yourself if you would’ve given a different judgement as the judge did.
On one of the assault cases specifically, he's sticking up for a mate who's just been KO'd.The video clearly shows it. Fair game on that specific case.

I wasn't sure I believed this when I read it in the media. The law is very much slanted against the man in these situations. BOTH parties can clearly be drunk when it comes to sex, but the man is automatically the bad one if the woman cries wolf. Guys. Read the judgment from his Civil Case. It's damning. He is chatting absolute b*llocks in this video and is contrary to his pleadings, police statement and witness statements. They took advantage of a woman who was to drunk. They knew what they were doing.
Two scenarios 1) Nasty guy lurking in a park at night jumps out and assaults a woman at knifepoint. Guy = RAPIST 2) People getting drunk at a weekend. Woman has a one night stand and says she "can't remember what happened". Guy = RAPIST. The exact same conclusion but you cannot compare guy 1 with guy 2. Yes of course "no means no", but this scenario is something we've got really wrong in society. The "too drunk to consent" law is too much of a grey area. This guy's life has been ruined. Unjustly imo.
From someone who knew him briefly, but also played against him frequently, I can guaranteed what he is being accused of isn’t something he is capable of, he is a fucking diamond of man, husband and dad
Never mind this story the guy that stopped him playing at Clyde people should look into his cases and if he stopped someone he should be stopped from working also simple as that absolute shocking
This is such a difficult situation for anyone to be in. The problem is both sides are going to claim they are telling the truth but the full truth will never be known. As soon as someone claims rape regardless of convictions or not guilty verdicts, everyone loses. The person accused gets tarred with being a rapist regardless of innocence or not, same with the person being raped. Either they have to live with knowing they have been raped or live with people accusing them of being a liar!
Moral of the story, don't get absolutely blootered to the point that you are in no way fit to know who you're with, where you are, and what you're doing!

Justice for goodwillie ❤
Looks to me like he thinks he is but that doesn't mean he's right. He seems to think it's normal taking a drunk lass home and double teaming her in a strangers flat. He touches on being aware of getting into potentially bad situations and that's what I'd like to have heard more of. He is still showing no remorse for the impact it had on her.
Well done for doing the interview David, the future will get better for you and your family.
I Worked alongside a man named Andy Quinn who was the Clyde kitman for a number of years and worked with David at Clyde for a couple of seasons and he had nothing but good things to say about this lad, I genuinely believe that he is innocent
Probably the best yet I've always wanted to hear David's story interesting to hear him talk so openly about his suicidal demons.
She was probably flying on the gear and got pumped like they said. Regret ain't rape.
I read somewhere that after he slept with her she wanted him to stay the night but he wanted to go home so she felt used and then cried rape.
If she was very drunk he shouldn't have had sex with her simple
funny that cos a girl in the same town who was given a lift home from the Room At The Top nightclub by a guy also claimed she had been r worded all because she had a boyfriend and didnt want to explain she went home in another guys car when drunk. Lucky for him other girls backed him up. FYI the taxi driver in this case asked her if she was ok to go with the two guys inside the house and she said yes.

James, you need to do better research before these interviews. You should have known what powers the civil court has and the difference between Civil and Criminal courts.
You never brought up the Taxi driver's statement. It would have been good to see how Goodwillie responded to this.
What did the taxi man say

@@GusMac6129 Why did the same women's groups not take any interest when he played for Clyde FC for years?
Why did the FM not get involved in Leigh Griffiths texting a young girl asking for naked pictures. What is the difference between DG , Huw Edwards and Griffiths?
@@Pennyburn1688 You should ask them those questions, your whatabouttery means nothing to me. I was just stating facts.
@@Pennyburn1688 I will actually correct you once again. Women's groups and North Lanarkshire council did indeed pipe up about him being at Clyde, which in turn forced their hand to sell him on to Raith. It is all out there is you care to research properly, instead of going on some uneducated rant.
@@GusMac6129 Stop talking nonsense. DG was at Clyde FC for 5years and NOBODY had a problem, it was when he moved to Raith Rovers that the big fat woman, I can't remember her name, started all the trouble for the lad.
Why did the FM and SNP councils not have a problem with LG?
Why do you not have an opinion on LG?
Why are all of these cases not treated the same?
You must have an opinion even if you do get all your facts wrong!
AWESOME PODCAST
James is under the impression he’s going to get a lot of backlash. I think every comment so far is praising this
Because we're all normal tax paying plebs in a comment section online.
Now go look at all the headlines on this
@@saffy565 James English is one of Scotland's biggest podcasters...hence the reason he is able to attract players like Goodwillie and even Arsenal legend Paul Merson.
Sorry Linda...as we say in Scotland...yer talking an absolute shower of sh*te.
Remember - one of his recent outspoken critics is a woman who writes (for money) fiction about rapes and murders and who makes a good living out of her crime tales. You couldn't make it up.
Who’s that mate
His name is Goodwillie...you couldn't make THAT up LOL.
Val McDermott@@Whatusain
Respect for letting him share his side of the story James. 3 sides to everything. His side, her side and the truth.
I met david in the a and e dept at forth valley hospital when he was with clyde. He broke his ankle and i had done ma back in. We spoke for about an hour. That lad is no rapist. A very humble respectful young lad whos been shafted by some gold digger in my opinion.
The civil case is all bull because John had a chat with him in a&e for an hour.
@@TubbyBrewster11🤣🤣🤣
@TubbyBrewster11 another law expert here. Civil case , didn't need any corroboration or evidence! How's that fair ????
His full life's been destroyed I feel Ur pain mate hope u get justice this man's is a hero wit a talent Never gives up YRS 🙏
He did it at the time he didn’t really think that it was wrong. But now he feels remorse and realise that it is wrong that’s what I believe.
I believe him. Sounds like a genuine man
He’s so respectful when he mentions her name, considering the hurt that this has caused.
I hope David gets justice that I think he deserves. Not guilty in a court of law should have been the end of it!
Brilliant again James, keep it up pal 🙂
Can’t Judge the case obviously only the interview. From start to finish the lad seemed as honest as can be.
What a stupid comment. The court deemed him guilty order to pay 100k. Not surprised James English had him on, didn't he assault a women and spit at her.
Wouldn't be surprised if he deletes this comment

Nicola Sturgeon will probably see the inside of a jail cell before David ever will. Now that's justice!
Born and bred in the Raploch myself, still live here. I remember playing football as a kid with David, nice guy and very talented player. The media need to hang their head in shame at what they did to him, what happened to innocent til proven guilty?
doesn't apply to white men
@@smth830 no, there was not enough evidence to bring it to court, he's innocent

This case was covered in a civil court not high court..... This was not a criminal case as it WAS deemed not enough evidence to take it there. You clearly don't know the full story of this case
@@smth830 no you haven't.
Well done pal for talking out. Wish u done it sooner. Alot of ppl have ur back. Please stay positive its horrendous to hear you have those horrible thoughts. Xx
I've always thought he was guilty but hearing him speak he does seem sincere and now believe him to be innocent.
You was right the first time
I see a lot of people commenting that obviously never heard what the 20 years experience security woman at the club said.
About the girl being in fine spirits then "next time I saw her, I thought, ‘Holy f***.’ She looked like she had been hit by a sledgehammer"
"She was like jelly, her eyes were rolling about in her head and she was trying to speak to me but she wasn’t coherent"
"I was debating if we should be calling her an ambulance or a taxi"
"He told me he would take her straight home to her mum. He said: “I promise I’ll put her in a taxi.”
"I told them that if she got any more delirious or started to roll her eyes, they should get the taxi driver to take her straight to hospital. They swore to me that they would do that"
"there was no physical way alcohol had done that"

Brilliant from him, hope he’s given a chance with a decent team and kicks a ball again
James accent is free on this lol
100% innocent. Women take it full advantage of these footballers. Ched evans another victim
Mendy too. 10 liars and not a charge in sight against any of them
The title of this video! According to the civil courts he is!
Fair play Davie , honestly feel for him.
Great interview ,100%believe the guy .
I wasn't sure I believed this when I read it in the media. The law is very much slanted against the man in these situations. BOTH parties can clearly be drunk when it comes to sex, but the man is automatically the bad one if the woman cries wolf. I think David Goodwillie and his friend Robertson have had a massive injustice. Just like the Ched Evans case. He was found innocent in the end. This was probably a "Regret Sex" situation.
Your a beast it's a fact can't believe james English last few guests 😊
Fat val and the bullies at the snp destroyed this laddie and his family by a amnesia blame game is a absolute disgrace, he should have daid he loved the snp as they are full of nonces far worse than anything david had been accused off, the lad deserves a chance to play,
That's all it was... SNP witch hunt.
Being a Liverpool supporter and knowing the power of newspapers, "the law " , mainstream media, I question whatever they say.
How this man has had to live his life is a disgrace, that court was just so people including lawyers could get more money, the Crown said there wasn't enough or any evidence. So its a load of bollox & through this David & all of his family have had a living nightmare.
So easy for us all to say move on. The Good Will Out mate ... Well done sharing your story David

We have all been out and took a girl back at 3am and done the business. I didn't mind what happened half the time so have they raped me?? No. The girl in question was probably going like the clappers on top too. Now ruined this guys life.
No because women can’t be charged with rape.
@SPKSKP I was smashed at my friends house and I went into his mums room and fell on bed and went to sleep on my chest. Woke up to his sister going for it on top my jeans at my ankles. Lol I couldn't have said yes haha. Am away to the police station now. Read about it in the daily record tomorrow 👍
@@SPKSKP ok what about sexual assault ?
@@DHILL82 yes, they can be charged and convicted of sexual assault.
@@SPKSKP yes I did think that. Many thanks
Guys. Read the judgment from his Civil Case. It's damning. He is chatting absolute b*llocks in this video and is contrary to his pleadings, police statement and witness statements. They took advantage of a woman who was to drunk. They knew what they were doing.
Two scenarios
1) Nasty guy lurking in a park at night jumps out and assaults a woman at knifepoint. Guy = RAPIST
2) People getting drunk at a weekend.
This laddie is 💯innocent❤so proud of you david well done pal should have been done years ago‼️
Do not wish to make comment on the story, but what I will say is, top class interview James.
David comes accross as honest, I believe him.
🤣🤣🤣
Im glad hes finally spoke about it,such a shame. Good luck for the future David. X
@@getalife7130 You can be completely sober and have consensual sex and the woman can still accuse you.
@@Bawitdabadabangdadang Exactly this. Millions of women have been raped willingly through their own actions and lack of personal responsibility. Sane people who don't care whether you're a bin man or a Prince refer to it not as rape, but the walk of shame. Accept your part and move on. Teach your sons from an early age just how conniving women can be, get a signed statement & a timestamped photo of her holding it, wear a condom, dont say you'll call her, do what you do and Foxtrot Oscar out of there, taking the statement with you. Teach your daughters that men can & will lie, if you sleep with 'him' on the first night he won't want you for anything other than his hole. Caveat emptor over carpe diem always or reap what you sow.
