Hello. My name is Aurm. On my UA-cam channel, you can find my original music that might interest you. You are welcome to use it for FREE in your videos
Your words and instruction concerning relaxing in the process and not being too concerned at details during the initial process really hit home for me. I am so full of stress and anxiety when I’m trying to create a painting as I am always so overly concerned with the details during early stages that I may be less creative than I want or should be. Your advice on this is so valuable so that I can be patient. BTW, my mother, grandmother, and great grandmother all had red hair unlike me whose hair is very dark brown (well, mostly gray now) though my dna is 85 percent Irish and English. I will be watching more of your videos, as your advice is pure gold for someone like me, who has so much anxiety with painting even though I love it so much. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Hi Brenda, thrilled you are finding my method helpful. I have always been interested in how the mind works... how it can control us by thinking too much of memories and expectations, which is one of the causes of anxiety. I realized being in the moment is such a joy... a joy of just letting go of control and just be happen to be. To be here and now. Ginger hair is a challenge to draw, I found using green to desaturate the colour values really does the trick. All the very best with your artwork. You are welcome, thank you for watching. 🙏😊
You can do it! Don't beat yourself up. Art is not a talent. It is a skill. It takes practice. Same with welding. I beat that first bead you laid down was not great. Maybe burned through or not sufficient penetration. I'm a weld technician. I work on mig and spot robots all day long. I still love coming home and doing a bit of art. I'm not great. And we don't have to be. It's just something fun. 😁
Liked and subscribed. Good advice! Ginger hair is so much fun to draw, so vibrant and colorful. I just drew my first couple of ginger people with colored pencils. One of them had a golden shine on one side due to the sun. They came out quite nice!
Thanks for subbing! I always love drawing hair and ginger hair is a challenge but its fun to do. Congratulation with you portrait... thanks for watching. 🙏😊
Wow! Your work is exquisite, perfect, just beautiful. Many years ago I used to use pastels, definitely not as good as you. Now I use oils. I love oils, pastels were so much fun. You were a true master.
Thank you so much for the kind words Angel. Pastels are amazing to use and they are really fun to use... especially no smell and cleaning brushes like we get with Oils... the technique I use is from how I paint in Oils so they come naturally to me... All the very best with your artwork. Thanks for watching. 🙏
I love to draw and I’m good at it to my friends and family, but my friend, this is just amazing. How do I take the time to do something like this when I have 5 other hobbies…just beautiful ...I’m envious of your talent!
Hi there, thanks for the kind words. I too for many years spread my time very thinly. I love so many different activities. My suggestion would be to create a sacred time for yourself everyday even if it is just 20 minute or so. Turn off your phone, explain to your friends and family I won't be available at that certain time you give to art. Life will make it happen if it is meant to be. Relax and be focused in your heart... all the guidance you will ever need is found there. 🥰🙏
Wow. So many questions. How long did it take to make the artwork? And how do you price the artwork? Very nice work. I'm glad to see that you teach the viewer that there are a multitude of colors in every aspect of a picture.
Hi Jason, Portraits average around 15... 20 hours at the easel. Always a difficult to answer, prices vary depending on details, size etc All the best 🙏
Hi Dave. Just discovered you on here. Your work is fantastic and your narrative super good. I've learnt a lot watching part one and two so thank you for sharing and teaching. Looking forward to finding another one. I'll definitely stay with you and share.
Hi Knighton... thanks for the kind words... thrilled you found both the videos helpful... I have 3 years of tutorials on my channel if you want to check them out.. ... here is the link to my Home page. www.youtube.com/@DavePortersArt all the very best Dave. 🙏
Did you mention one time you meditate? I do too! When I create art I think something works through me, I'm not sure how I do what I do. Do you feel that way too? Some other artists I know feel that way. Hope you are doing well. Thank you for showing us your skills.
Meditation happens every moment now. Just be aware of being aware... everything comes from awareness. Be happy to just be. Creativity flows from this. I'm good thanks, hope all is well with you too. You are welcome. 🙏😊
Hi Socorro, Please check description below this video for all the details on brands etc and links to purchase them. all the very best... thanks for watching🙏
Hi Dave, do you use oil or soft pastels in your videos? I am an oil painter and looking to move to pastels but not sure which type to use for best blend etc. I am also looking to finish off my latest painting using pastels as struggling to get the tones and details with brushes, would this work on canvas? PS Amazing content, learning so much from each video as they are presented so simply and clearly, keep up the good work mate!
Hi Scott, I use soft chalk pastels.... not played with oil pastels for years... I have just done a bit of a search for you and apparently you can get oil based pencils i.e.: Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils, Caran d’Ache Luminance pencils... not too sure whether they would work on your canvas... shouldn't see why not tbh. All the best thanks for watching... great that you are getting some info from them. 🙏
Love this upload. Just remember that the letter "H" is pronounce in the word Hair. Sorry, but you know it's true. As the old saying goes "Do not drop your ayches"
Thank you for sharing 🥰 Could you kindly tell me what is the angle you keep your pencils when you usually use the side of.the edge of them ?…I can’t see it through video. Thank you
You are welcome, it is a very slight angle, I just keep turning the pencil to find a new edge. I sharpen the pencils with a knife. Here is a link to one of my video that explains how to sharpen... ua-cam.com/video/7YGvMZ-N0jw/v-deo.html All the very best.🙏

Hi The issues I am facing while doing portraits: While keeping the dimension to similar sizeo the source image ; I am facing no problem; The portrait is coming along just fine. But when asked by my Client to make the portrait bigger I did not get proportions within my portrait as accurate as I am getting when I am NOT increasing the size of the portrait. Thanks
You make sure you can see all your reference image and that will help you see and gauge one shape against another... just persevere and it will come. 🙏😊
