Thanks for your informative video. I will try this with my two trees one is very sour and other one is very sweet and my favorite because the seeds are also softer than the sour one.
@@lcglazer I wouldn't go so far as to say necessary, but without a mist system the scions are bad about drying out before they establish a good connection. I always cover the whole thing.
Going to the fourth weeks and there is no sign of life from the scions. Pomegranate and Citrus are the 2 hardest trees to graft. Citrus scion tend to dry out or molded. Pomegranate must be timed correctly. The pomegranate scions are fresh, but they already leaved out. The tree I grafted onto is the same. It was best if I have the scion during dormant and grafted before the tree leaved out. The apricot that was grafted onto a peach shows sign of life and it was grafted a couple of day later than the pomegranate. Guess, I have to wait a maximum of 3 months or black sticks of death to confirm failure. Good video as it shown the start and the result.
Great video. Could you please advise on what rootstock is suitable for grafting pomegranate scions? I do not have a pomegranate tree yet. I have adult plum, apple, cherry, serviceberry and mulberry trees. is anyone of those a good candidate? Thanks
I enjoy watching your grafting videos, and I have a quick tip for you. Prepare your scion first, then take the scion and place it on top of the rootstock, move it to one side until both cambium layers align. That’s where you place your knife and cut the rootsock. That way both of the sides of the cambium always align perfectly. Also, here’s another tip cut the scion wedge equally on both sides and instead of using buddy tape to keep the scion in place use black electric tape, that tape will allow you to create a very tight seal on both the scion and the rootstock because it’s slightly elastic yet it’s strong enough to force the outside cambium layer to conform to the scion. This way you’re not left with an outside flap that could be used as additional point of contact. GL
Very nice video, nicely explained and easy to follow. Can you tell me where to get the grafting tape you were using in the video? Do share some link on Mango grafting? Thanks in advance. Your videos are great!!!!

Salute bro I watched all your grafting videos. Just bought scions online and grafted my first mango seedlings Hope they take. It's different foer everyone but about How long you think till the scions sprout shoot's? Thanks 👍,💯
In general it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for sprouts to shoot, but I’ve seen mango grafts grow shoots 6 months later! I don’t give up on mango grafts until one year or so after I graft them, even if the graft looks dead. I once grafted a mango scion onto my tree in August, and it looked dead after a month or so. In April of the next year, it grew shoots!
Thanks, good demo I tried grafting to my pomegranate tree using the wipe and tongue technique. It's about two months with no growth. How long does it take to see results? Is the cleft graph technique better for pomegranates? Thanks in advance
Hi AJ..good video 😊👍.just a question: when the graft is done .. and the tape time is over.. the brange is one piece.. is the area of the craft strong?... ..would it turn like one wood?.. or wil it always be a weaker spot .. or maybe it is stronger .. they say when you brake a bone.. and it heals .. ..then the bone is after the heal. . it is more strong.. thank you
The graft area becomes strong after some time. Depends on the tree. Trees like Fig, Mulberry, pomegranate, apple, and stone fruits heal graft points rather quickly compared to trees like avocado, for example. Eventually, after a year or so, the graft area becomes as strong as any other branch of the tree. Thanks! 🌴🌳
Good evening from Trinidad and Tobago thanks for sharing your knowledge
Good evening. I love Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
Excellent grafting video, AJ. The detail is getting better all the time. You're presenting really valuable information.
Thanks Neal!
You're amazing, AJ! You're pretty close to the grafting king. Awesome videos. Very educational.
Thanks Neal. Hope some of those mango grafts grew out
You have explained the art of modified cleft grafting superbly. Thanks.
Thank you 🙏
Great video thanks, excellent follow up to show afterwards how it took.

Great!
Very well explained
Thank you
This is a really good video on grafting generally. Only thing, don't touch the open cuts. The oils from your skin will cause the graft to fail.
Is it necessary to tape up the whole cutting?

Thanks

Excellent video question : what is a good rootstock for grafting pomegranate ? what is compatible ? Thanks
Have to graft pomegranate to pomegranate rootstock.
❤nice
Any recommendations for avocado scion wood? Nabal in particular. I’m in Orange County but can’t find a nabal tree
I have a grafted Nabal tree in a 5 gallon pot. Email me ajsgarden123@gmail.com

Thanks. pomegranate is only graft compatible with pomegranate. I doubt it can be grafted to the other trees you mentioned

thanks AJ !!
always cover your successful grafts with brown soft masking tape that will eventually disintigrate as graft swells. thanx
I am new with grafting....how do you then start a new tree from that graft?
You don't. The tree continues to grow naturally.

Bought a grafted avocado tree, sadly I did not anchored the tree from swaying during a storm and it broke at the grafted point. The whole top was off.
See if you can take it back and return it.
I’m sorry to hear that
So you recommend grafting when dormant?
Yes. Dormant or just waking up from dormancy. Seems to work best
