They learn that very specific posture beginning day one of boot camp and it becomes ingrained muscle memory for the whole of their lives thereafter. In this case, the young man’s musculature and physique amplifies the intensity of the posture making it very prominent. That intensity and physical prowess is a hallmark of most marines. Standing at attention for any soldier is their way of giving their full undivided attention where it needs to be, preventing distraction, and is their way of showing formal respect to the person to whom they are giving their attention. Such attention and respect is typically given to those who are of higher rank or to those who have earned it, in this case his father. This ceremony is utterly beautiful. I am glad that they shared it.

This young Lt. didnt just make his father proud, he is a source of pride to his countrymen and women and his fellow brothers and sisters who wear the uniform. Our predecessor who paved the way before us and are now watching us from up above are proud to see this young man and others like him represent their efforts and sacrifices with honorable respect and discipline. Also, this father deserves praise as well! He raised a respectable son and ill say this about him... it takes a big man to speak like that to any man in front of others and not give a damn what anyone thinks about his words and actions, because he is having a once in a lifetime moment with his son that will never come by again.

It is an honor and a privilege to salute both of these men. SALUTE!!

My son just retired as a Marine E-8 after 23 years of service. He enlisted right after graduating high school. He is a fine man, husband, father of four, and patriot and I couldn't be more proud of him.

This man remembers the times of his son being a baby, and now being able to be the first to salute him. He was the first for many things in this man's life and now he gets to be the first to salute. They learn that very specific posture beginning day one of boot camp and it becomes ingrained muscle memory for the whole of their lives thereafter. In this case, the young man’s musculature and physique amplifies the intensity of the posture making it very prominent. That intensity and physical prowess is a hallmark of most marines.
Standing at attention for any soldier is their way of giving their full undivided attention where it needs to be, preventing distraction, and is their way of showing formal respect to the person to whom they are giving their attention. Such attention and respect is typically given to those who are of higher rank or to those who have earned it, in this case his father.
This ceremony is utterly beautiful. I am glad that they shared it.

I had the feeling of disgust. They are paid order followers. Its always honorable to defend freedom but for a very long time military is about defending the pockets of rich and their interests. Its a natural resource/drug war at this point.

As a Retired Air Force Master Sergeant, I fought back tears when my son got on that bus for Lackland. Two years later, I still get teary eyed when we chat on the phone :)
