I think I did all three in the song lol
Some singers are good because, they can simply put the feeling into it, making you feel it as well. Others are good technically, they have it down. But, singers like Floor have both the technical control and the ability to drive in the emotion of the song. Makes her better than both those described, to the listener. If the singer isn't feeling it, the crowd wont feel it. Thats why I love the live performances. 🤘

"Song Of Myself" was No. 14 in a set of 15 songs at Wacken 2013, the Lady had already been belting out the songs like this for 1 hr 21 mins when it was time for this one.
I must admit I haven't listened to Nightwish for that many years, but from what I understand the first vocalist Tarja Turunen always took a break in the middle of the concerts (during which you got little gems with the bass guitarist Marko Hietala singing "The Islander" and the excellent cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes"). Floor doesn't do that, she is on stage the whole time from start to finish, except from a couple of quick dashes out to powder her nose or something, like in "Ghost Love Score". Cheers / B.

They are the pioneers of ”Symphonic Metal”. They have became more and more cinematic, progressive and folky since Floor joined in -12. The ”operatic metal” and ”catchy power metal” songs is their old sounds from the Tarja and Anette eras, but Floor kills those songs too.
Maybe I should check out some of the older stuff. Any suggestions?
G&T Reactions I’m not the best to answer that. I’m too bios. Any of their old songs is better when Floor does them, in my opinion. Every song from Wacken 2013 is originally sung by their old singers, Ghost Love Score is a Tarja song, Storytime a Anette song. Wacken 2013 was Floors first big show as their new lead singer. I saw them live in Sweden in -13 and already then I thought she was so above Tarja and Anette that it was not even fair, as a singer but also with her stage performance.
I’ll suggest you react to some stuff that was actually written for Floors voice. ’Greatest Show On Earth’ live from Tampere is a must! A 20 minute long epica about the evolution of our planet from it’s birth to the end of mankind.

@@GTReactions I liked Run DMC with Aerosmith, but that was just a gimmick I guess. It also seems to be illegal to use people who play real instruments on rap.
What my biggest problem is with rap is the fact that I wouldn't feel save between 82000 rap fans, but I would feel perfectly at ease between 82000 metal heads at Wacken.
I'm just an old guy who grew up with handmade music, and I can't understand how you can listen to rap after a stressful day at work.
I used to play Ace of spades a few times full power and then I was relaxed again.

The original song on the album few years earlier than this is so awesome with the poem in the end which completes this masterpiece by Tuomas. Jukka kills the drums in this live though and guitar riffs of Emppu are so great. So sad that Marco is not there anymore.

What's so disrespectful about hobbit? Emppu is definitely not a warlock! He has too much fun to have sold his soul to a demon in exchange for his talent. Honestly, I can see him as a Merry or Pippin; he might like to goof around a bit, but at the same time, he's always there supporting his friends/family/bandmates and doing well what needs to be done - while hardly ever getting the credit for it.
Oh, and Troy would be a druid/bard, not a druid/magician. But that's just a 30+ year D&D veteran being picky! :-)

Symphonic Metal, it's called with a Classical Symphony Orchestra playing in a Metal song.
Orchestral is a bit vague expression, cause there are other kinds of orchestras besides Symphonic ones., besides the Classical music European great names produced and some still do. And it's used especially in movie scores. So many recognize its themes and motives subconsciously from movies. No wonder people say they feel like watching a movie from Nightwish videos :)
Operatic Metal comes if the singing style is Operatic.

You didn't reply on an older video, so I'm asking here again. As you come from a hip hop background, and as you've already proven it, you pay a lot of attention to lyrics, so I was wondering if you were taking requests/recommendations. There's a few awesome bands with songs with fantastic lyrics that I have not seen you react to, yet. If you do, I'll give you one or two recommendations with some background info needed to fully appreciate the songs.
Of course I am taking requests. I can't promise to get to every single one but I will try
Well, I'll try with two songs. Both long as hell, but so worth it. You don't even feel their length. Małe vocalists on both. Found you through the best women, so time for some men. 😋 A fair bit of warning, each of them is a tearjerker and a half.
1. Dream Theater - The Best of Times
Background:
The song is autobiographical in nature, sort of. Lyrics written by Mike Portnoy, the drummer of the band, in loving memory of his father. There is way more to the story, but that's enough to get it.
and 2. Pain of Salvation - The Passing Light of Day
Background:
The song itself is about a moment when the vocalist of the band is deep in the reaches of an illness, with his wife sitting by his hospital bed.
Daniel Gildenlöw, the aforementioned vocalist, wrote the entire concept album after getting dealt one of the worst cards life can deal you. A case of necrotizing fasciitis, aka the flesh eating disease. A quickly progressing sickness that kills your connective tissues. As it attacks the fascia, it makes your body simply fall apart and hurts like nothing else ever could(and painkillers don't do a damn thing, because the dead fascia spread toxins to the surrounding muscles and skin, causing an inflammation that doesn't allow the medication to reach the nerves). Don't Google image that condition if you don't have a morbid fascination with gruesome things.
It starts with a small bump around, in some regions of the body, something as mild as a scratch. In a matter of days spreads like wildfire wrecking everything it spreads to. It requires massive doses of the most powerful antibiotics and even then the doctors urge you towards amputation of all infected tissue and about an inch around it, because the alternative, if the antibiotics don't work(which often happens), is death when it reaches something vital. The worst thing is, it is caused by the same innocent looking bacteria as strep throat, so, please, never get a deep tissue wound and if you do, don't cough on it.
He thought he wouldn't survive it. Miraculously, he did. And that made him write something that still makes me(a 36 year old dude) cry each time I hear it and I am not ashamed to admit that. It is Art. Capital A, Art.
Hope you find time to get to those or at least one of them. Both bands are on the edges of progressive rock and metal and both are nothing but masters of their craft.
