What a strange use of the word "mishap". Dropping an egg on the floor is a mishap. 5 people imploding into liquid mush in under a second is a disaster.
A disaster clearly allowed to happen by some of the submersible creators and the company. mishap definitely implies accident, this was hardly an accident if it was known by all professionals in the company and diving community that it was going to happen, in my opinion
They literally found a crack prior to the dive and that idiot still went down and took people with him, also wild to build it based around an airplane design, which deals with completely opposing pressures. The arrogance and ignorance is unbelievable lol
There's a lot that's crazy for this. Another one is their navigation was done through a cheap, wireless, game console controller. So, if the batteries went dead, they were screwed there as well.
Unfortunately, the owner of the company responsible for the Titan submersible thought that he knew better than everyone else. Unfortunately, he didn't, and 5 people needlessly lost their lives.
Sub lost at 3350 m depth, and Titanic is at 3800 m in depth.... they got pretty close. I always assumed the thing imploded halfway in the descent or so.
The last communication from the Titan( dropping two weights), they seemingly were trying to either head back up or slow their decent. This is kinda terrifying, to think, that even for a moment there was the awareness that something wasn't right, and didn't have time to act fast enough...
From the hearings that was a normal procedure at that approx depth to slow their descent as they approached Titanic. They had no warning or sounds before the glue seal failed. The best possible scenario in this event.
I thought they would do it in real time transcript and implosion So we could have gotten a better understanding of what transpired down there. The moral ofthe story dont take unnecessary risks with your life

what would “a” “aa” “ack” “Polar Prince” “k” “ph” “PH” “poi orks” “nbow” “aq” “rssi -60” “n” “wts” mean? I know it’s obviously a code or signal to something but I wanna know what it means.

How so? That is how dives go, you go to the general location based on GPS, but the ocean currents are always moving. Generally you get as close to position as you are able, drop to depth, and move to find your target. The route seemed relatively fine aside from them needing to apparently move the host ship while tethered to the submersible, that seems like a problem waiting to happen.

At the very least what they could have done (if it makes any difference) is tethered the Titan to the Polar Prince and maybe run a communications line with it. So maybe they'd have a fighting chance to ascend if the Titan sinks due to any reason but they relied entirely on the ship and propulsion system.
If I take an educated guess, I guess that it's communication between the two parties that they are still receiving signals and able to receive and send responses. Similar to radio communications when they say "All clear?" And the other team says "Clear!" I took the first "a" as: a - Do u copy? And the aa: aa: copy, sending back communication received. Absolute insanity to go that depth where the pressure is over 2 tons psi and in a cylinder too, which is even more stupid.
