@@gunnerhoward3134 hi, I know this post is old but can you elaborate on your recording routine? I'm extremely intimidated by DAWs and dont have the time to figure them out. I just want to record music as simply as possible. Thanks
The graphic overlay showing the parameter labels is very helpful. It turns the video into a interesting tutorial. I hope to see this when you demo the new Electribes.
I didn't expect you could use one sample for so many purposes while sounding SO GOOD! This will be my first time getting into sampling, excited to use such a rich sound source for such varied possibilities. Also, my desk will look complete! :D
It is called the volca SAMLPE not volca SAMPLER. You can freely tweak the 100 on-board samples to create almost any sound (as shown perfectly in this video). This is not intended to be a sampler.. The iOS app is a bit of a bonus if you have an apple device. If you want to sample your own sounds, either get a KPmini2S or for the pros, perhaps the Electribe Sampler.
Im sitting here watching this with my volca sample learning. I got one for 50 bucks from my friend. I never learned to use it( because im an idiot) and thank god i got it. This is actually amazing.
You are an incredible inventor!!! You understand sound/music better than anyone else yet! Thank you for sharing these 25th Century technologie with us old folks born in the 1900's. Please accelerate your work, and lower prices immediately, the volume will make it worth it. Peace!
I have one sitting right in front of me as I type this - I've had it for almost 2 years & never knew you could do that with ONE sample. I need to really play with mine.
Hi ! Thank you for amazing video , recently I buy volca sample 2 and buy a arturia key step 37, but seems like my volca didn't have a global function to control it from key step 37, can you help me? About an week I'm searching about it and I can't fix it
@@thetownwaites118 Layer it with a clap and/or add a bit of stutter with very short stutter time. It takes a little fiddling, but it can sound nice. You can also mod it.
That is one thing that's holding the vsample back that would make it a beast. It's a annoying when your on a roll and you need to upload a new sample on some fucking editor. That's why I want to get the PO-33
I conclude that this guy rocks.... If I was in front of this machine I could barely think outside the "piano" mindset. I could reverse the sound as I usually do when playing with a sampler :D
Vlad Moseev I'm from 2025, when KORG has made Transformers with their own built in synths so you can groove while you engage in epic battles with that one neighbor you never got along well with. It's awesome.
Well, he made better drum sounds with that thing out of piano sounds which sound better than the drums in the Volca beats machine! I got one of those, and i am pretty disappointed with it, it has the thinnest sounding drums i have heard! But what is the point in having one of these if it doesn't seem to have an audio input? Maybe a person who has no drum machines would find this useful, pretty cool still...
Good little device but if Korg made a more advanced version that could play multisamples, had usb connectivity and power with better effects and more storage then this would fly off the shelves. I far prefer hardware samplers than software for certain sounds. I don't care if it costs more or is slightly larger, I'd buy it as its such a convenient sized device compared to a hardware sampler.
I was really excited about this... Then I noticed that apparently you can only drop your own samples into it via the iOS app (which I previously thought was just a bonus, not a requirement). I love KORG but I don't like Apple and how you're utterly screwed when they decide to make things obsolete. Happened once with my iPhone SynthStation, not making that mistake again. KORG, please correct me if I'm wrong! Is there any other way without using an iOS device to load your own samples into it? I really want to get one of these.
Victor Navarro sgtransit 74 yeah but it still requires a mobile iOS or android phone to import samples apparently, and I use neither. Does anyone know if there will be a Mac/PC app that we can use for the VolcaSample? I just think KORG is really limiting the instrument by confining its customization to mobile devices. I wouldn't have a problem if it was iOS -and- PC compatible, then everyone can be happy.
Stalhjelm if you go down to the bottom of the page and go to the developer website, the app is also available for windows and mac. Hope that helps! (and I hope it works cause I want to get a volca sample and have it not tethered to a phone)
Nice looking unit again, but this one would have looked REALLY great if they'd used WHITE LED's instead of red ones.... or have Access got the exclusive rights to whites ?!
want to know a cool trick? There is no filter on volca sample other than hi cut, but if you get a sample that has a super sharp filter EG on the front of it already baked in, like a moog click from a glitch sample or a clicky kick sample with a baked-in filter click on the front, if you loop it real short you can walk up and down that initial transient spike with the sample start point, it sounds just what a resonant low pass filter will do, at least gives you something to knob like you would a resonant cutoff knob
Finally, somebody is using sampling the way it had been meant to be used in the first place. Why did I have to wait like 20 years to see a video of somebody NOT to sample entire phrases. I mean, if you sample a single note (which is what the sampler was designed for) you are highly unlikely to get into any of the copyright issues, and also it will give you a credit for some sort of creativity by processing the sample in different ways. I can't sand phrase sampling and loops. They totally ruined the perception of electronic music starting from early '90s.
While I do agree this use of sampling is cool, I disagree on the negative view on sample heavy music from the 90s and in my view, gross misapplication of copyright law curbed the exercise of artistic creativity and shut down entire branches of music. Pity on the world who will never see what would have come from the seeds planted with records like homework, you've come a long way baby and others. That's precisely the opposite of what those laws should do.
agree to disagree, but sampling a single loop of a song can itself have infinite possibilities of being creatively remixed. i think you just don't actively seek out sample based music therefore aren't exposed to the good stuff
Andrew Piatek Not necessarily. Take some tracks from Fatboy Slim or The Prodigy in their heyday for example. I don't even think this is debatable. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look for a video from Jim Pavloff remaking "Smack my bitch up" in Ableton.
Could this be used to provide a rhythm and bass (with other sampled sounds?) as a sequencer for other MIDI devices? I have several MIDI keyboards and a Korg Volca Keys.
Hi, I have just exported files to Volca sample , and I see that the tempo knob remains fixed on, and even the sequencer does not work with the "play" button. How can I do?
