You got one!! Nice! That sale price is GONE btw. They are now going for 600.00. Mendham bikes had them on clearance because Univega had stock left over from the previous year and had to dump them to cover their cost. All those clearance bikes are gone now. Univega has been around for a LONG time guys, since the 70s. That Fork IS NOT a boost fork even though it says it is, that sticker is a miss-print. That head tube works PERFECTLY with the ZTTO adapter for a tapered fork. I know because I replaced that fork with a tapered fork already on mine. I know you guys had trouble in the past with them BUT not all tapered adapters are equal . That is the Rover RM29. P.S. - I gotta say I was really surprised by the quality of the Nutt Brakes. At that price the RM29 is TOTALLY worth upgrading, it's not as much of a budget bike as the price indicates. Post Covid, a lot of bike companies had big sales declines and had to unload their overstock before tax time. Whoever took advantage of these overstocked bikes with the 20% off coupon paid LESS than the bike cost to make and ship.
In bought a new 2023 Marin Bolinas 27.5 framem ($188) and built it up from parts. It is quick release front and back. It was built up as a mullet 27.5F and 26R. It has a Suntour 120mm Epixon. Michelin Wild Enduro tires, XT 2 piston brakes, Advent X 10 speed group set. All cable are external routed--which I prefer. I also use a suspension seat post (for my back) instead of a dropper. It has been ridden hard and on some very gnarly rocky tech trails--it is currently the most fun bike I own and I ride it more often than the other bikes in my stable. It is a very compliant ride, climbs well, does everything well within its limits. It is a very compliant ride, climbs well. It always puts a smile on my face
I got mine when it was on sale. I did change the pedals, grips, stem to trail1 and trail1 bars. I have no complaints about the bike. It is not a boost, it's the wrong sticker on it. The cassette can be easily changed.
They've been putting that sticker on at least six months. I thought it may have been a mistake, but they've had time to correct it so now I think it's deception. Screw Suntour if they are lying.
Yeah you can tell it's non boost because that 2.35 looks awfully tight in there. Same with the rear, so guess the rear is 135 and not 141 boost like the Axum.
44/44 head tube is not a problem. Plenty of adapter bearings and slacker bearings available to fit that. 34/34 is the one that’s a problem that you can’t do nothing with. Looks like a really great bike people in the comments are saying it’s not available for that price anymore. It’s too bad.
Ordered mine on 12/29 with a 20% off promo code making it $228 to my door. Amazing. It was after the new year and had already gone back up in price before I even got it lol. I’m 42 and recovering from a hip replacement and work full time and have a family so I don’t know if I’ll get heavy into mountain biking so the price was perfect to get started on. I love mine
Grip is similar to trouvaille's stock grips. Sidenote, nishiki colorado 27.5+ from 2017 also comes with a straight steer suntour xcm boost fork with 15x110, but it's 34mm Stanchion.

it's crazy that you guys are in Tennessee and have had more snow then we have had here in Wisconsin. We've gotten maybe 3 inches of snow this winter. I got my bike all winter prepped and spent over $100 on new extra knobby tires and all I'm doing is wearing the tread down on the non-snow covered cement streets.
8 speed chains don't always work on 9 speed cassettes. You may want to put a 9 or 10 speed chain on it to quiet things down and smooth theshifting out.
A casette hub has the ratchet built-in and cogs are then set onto splines. A freewheel is spun onto a freewheel hub. A freehub is for riding fakie on bmx.
Very important to have waterproof nuts and bolts, you don't want to see what happens when you get the non-waterproof ones. I kept hearing Marlboro when you said the rear derailleur name. FedEx used the back half of that bike as a lever...
Fun fact! If you have schrader cut outs you can buy presta adapters to use a presta tube or valve for tubeless. Sweet budget bike!!! In my opinion it looks better than the OG Axum. Just curious if its a boost 141 rear like the Axum? Doesn't look like it by how narrow that 2.35 tire looks in it. PS send this video to who ever sold it!! Get your parts they owe you.
I bought this bike for my indoor trainer, and even though the sticker boasts "Boost," the axle and fork tell another story-it's actually a non-Boost fork (100mm). My rear wheel was slightly out of true, but the front wheel was completely unrideable. It took me almost two hours to true it because half the spokes were loose. Honestly, this bike feels like it was cobbled together from frames of a bigger brand that didn't pass quality control, with parts-bin components tossed in that also didn't make the cut elsewhere-seems like they're trying to recoup some costs.
These bikes were all quickly pieced together because they did not sell after Covid . Since companies have to pay taxes on unsold inventory they dumped everything on their balance sheet at Mendham bikes AT COST and wrote them off. New RM29s are now 600.00. These overstock bikes are all sold-out. Univega is a Reputable company and for 240 out the door it's worth upgrading.
The price has gone up but even at 228 bucks you still have to change out the fork that's going to cost you 200 bucks for a decent Fork and if you want to ride it on some decent trails you have to change out the tires but all in all it's a decent bike I've seen a lot of reviews on it I ride a polygon xtrada 7 hardtail ❤❤
I seen a lot of these reviews on this bike it's what stopped me from getting it that the derailleur hanger was all bent to crap another reason to stop me from getting it wasn't didn't have a tapered head tube a lot of people are happy with this bike but if somebody knew gets it and doesn't have hardly any tools and don't know how to bend the derailleur hanger back then they're screwed😢😢

So glad to finally see a Univega review! 👍

I have missed you , guys. So happy to see how well the Wolfman is recovering from surgery.

Sounds really cool - I did a very similar thing with a Hawk Hill frame. Same mullet set up too
That is definitely a great value bike! Good to see you guys in action! Stay cool!
I agree with Wolfman on the headtube for the same reasons.

It's amazing what you can get for $250. Thank God the pricing craze is dying off.
You can't, all these overstocked bikes are sold out. They are going for over 600.00 now.

I got one for my daughter and it's amazing!

Nice review guys! Audio was good.
Great bike review. Looks like an awesome bike

Univega has usually been a good bang for the money . I honestly didn't think they where still in business
WE LOVE THE OLD MAN !!
JEREMIAH NOT A FAN !!
You should put a TransX dropper post on the bike...no cable, simple design... I use one on my Voodoo 29er XC bike, I love it!
8 speed chains don't always work on 9 speed cassettes. You may want to put a 9 or 10 speed chain on it to quiet things down and smooth theshifting out.
This bike would be a total winner with an Suntour air fork and a dropper for $399 !!!
Need to get you guys a derailer hanger straightener...

Jeremiah $498.Ozark Trail released the new bike dual suspension FS2 slalom mountain bike
theres a tool for that derailleur hanger bend ,and you leave it on the bike
Univega BLOODWORM 🤣
Damn it, I passed on this deal before Christmas! I am so mad.
I got mine from mendhambikes the rear derailleur was a little bent but still able to shift

"Get that helmet strapped."
i have to transport my bike in a sedan. boost is a pain as i have to on and off the front wheel 2 times per ride....
the Univega web site lists that at $899.99 amazing coupon.
Gotta get the Ozark dirt jumper man... Thoughts?
Got it at Mendham Bikes

Can we finish the ozark trial build?
The $250 must have been a sale price. Website shows over $500 for the bike
Yes, it was but Google for discount codes
Also that fork is probably a 10x100 non boost. That 2.35 looks awfully tight in there. 2.4 is probably the max 🤷🏻♂️
I have an external dropper
I'm still trying to understand why manufacturers put Presta valves on MTBs.
looks like a truvale.
Delivery people don't give 2 cents these days about package care. But if you buy online, this is something you need to be careful of.
Guess how the shops receive them
$540 price tag now.
The link take you to a bike that is $539.99. WTH??
What, are you guys too cool to converse with us Subbed-humans in the comment section anymore? (;
I just looked its $540
Comment
$530? Ozark Trail looks a little better deal
The Ozark doesn't have hydraulic brakes or a 32mm fork.
I'm on a M-fin" bike!!

Another pass on a cheap "mtb".
