Dear Prof, I disagree with you about proportionality. Please tell me how dropping a 2000 poundbomb on a residential building to kill a handful of alleged fighters is "difficult" to assess proportionality, meanwhile In Beirut, they did a surgical strike that took out the hamas guy, not an entire neighbourhood.. In Iraq, the US pulled off another one and killed their target and a handful of people. Why destroy civilian structure in Gaza? Why destroy cemeteries? Why tell people to use a certain safe route, then bombing the said route..
Now they want to destroy Rafah, the one place they crammed +1 million people while telling them it was the only safe place. Put yourself in their shoes, and ask yourself how its proportional when they dropped the estimate of 2 Hiroshima bombs, at 25kT, while Hiroshima was a 15kT bomb (on a parcel of land 25x4 miles..)
I also need your take on how we can claim that Hamas is the only problem here. On Oct 7, the IDF themselved have revealed that they enacted the Hannibal directive and killed hundreds of Israeli citizens. They have openly refused an exchange deal for Israeli citizens for thousands of women and children jailed in Israel without charges (administrative hold). We haven't talked about the propaganda the Israeli themselves are generating to date. Do you remember the gore from Oct 7? They are walking back on most of these (on Israeli local TV, no less!!) Do you remeber the IDF hiring an actress to pretend to be a palestinian nurse?
What about the war crimes, including snipers shooting patients on hospital beds, and recently, a doctor as he was performing surgery? We haven't touched on "mowing the lawn", a term the IDF uses to refer to massacres meant to "thin out the population" (from their cabinet meeting notes, no less!!). Fatou Bensouda tried to open a case against Israel after operation cast Lead, and she was fought to the point of involving her family. We havent touched on the 2018 peaceful March of return where Palestinians were peacefully protesting and were mowed down by snipers, including children, medics, press and disabled people on wheelchairs.
And, if Hamas is the main problem here, why are massacres happening at the West bank? Why have thousands been arbitrarily arrested on administrative hold, including children?
BTW,Netanyahu himself is on record explaining the importance of continuing to fund Hamas if they wanted to prevent a palestinian state (2019). Israel was involved in creation of Hamas in 87, and even helpedthem develop administrative capacity to win in 05 in Gaza. This was to divide the Palestinian resistance and its worked magnificently. Why isn't anyone mentioning these facts? Why do we want to assume that Israel isn't a brutal occupier that commits horrible crimes against Palestinians even before Oct 7? Why are we giving only one side of the story, as if the truth is impossible to find??
To imagine that this is life since 48.. any wonder why groups like Hamas exist.
I don't support violence against civilians, but where peaceful means are impossible, violence is bound to exist. This war will judge humanity for decades to come.

How can you equivocate on the murder of over 10,000 children? In what world is that justified? It is now after Israel was created on Palestinian land without consulting the indigenous Palestinian population that Palestinians lost their country and no longer have passports since their country no longer exists, having been replaced by Israel since 1948. Théodore Herzl, one of the founders of political Zionism wrote in 1902 to infamous colonizer Cecil Rhodes, arguing that Britain recognized the importance of “colonial expansion”:

I disagree with two state solution. Religio-fascist state of Israel must be dismantled. Mizrahi Jews who are fundamentally Arab Jews have lived there before askhanazi project of Israel was created. Mizrahis are Palestinian Jews. Most Askhanazis have citizenship in more than one country. Either they chose to live as equal or go back to the country of origin. Ethiopian Jews belong to Ethiopia. Yemeni Jews belongs to Yemen
