Here is a summary of the key points from the video:
- The video shows a repair being done on a Raypak pool heater. During a freeze, the manifold/header developed a crack, which turned into a big leak when temperatures dropped to 13 degrees.
- The technician needs to clean off ice that formed before starting the repair. Nuts will be removed from the manifold using an impact tool to avoid breaking them if seized.
- A freeze plug and new gasket will be installed on the manifold. Magic Lube is used to help the gasket stay in the groove.
- The manifold will be reassembled using the impact tool initially but then tightened by hand to ensure even tightening. The technician explains to go back and forth between bolts like tightening a tire.
- The video aims to help viewers with a similar repair by showing the process. Viewers are encouraged to like and subscribe for more repair videos.

Freezing temps and water don’t mix. But good for business. Nice to know there is a knowledgeable pool Machanic in the area.
What happens if one of the screws breaks off
We have had that happen before. Depending on the heater year, some of them were studs that could be tapped out and replaced. It can turn into hours of unexpected work.
Once things get rusty enough to break, it’s usually time to replace the unit.
@@Pool-guy thanks for the info, only had the unit for 7 years.
@@1981tave salt pool?
@@Pool-guy in ground DE filter chlorine
@@1981tave ok, well they usually last longer than that. I was thinking it may have been salt as they corrode really fast when a leak develops.
Hopefully you can get it fixed without having to replace.
