From what I understand, the Ranger was originally on his way to Verdigris Patina (a peaceful little town) to apprehend a different outlaw named Alexander Copperplate, only to find that the townsfolk had already remedied the problem. (This a a reference to “The Copper War”, (an old Cog is Dead song), in case you were wondering.)
"And the notches on his skillet numbered one and nineteen more." Seriously, I was disappointed when Cog is Dead didn't make good on that thumbnail. Such a tease!
I love how you can hear every rendition has their own vibe. The original felt like a warning towards the ranger, I have heard renditions that was like a story, passed trough generations. And this one feels like a guy praising the victory of the ranger. LOVE IT! And goosebumps!
Let's all take a moment to appreciate the musicianship, the arangement, the filming, and all the hard work that paid off in spades! This sounds like it was taken right out of a Spaghetti Western, and I can't get enough!
Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius Genius. Every time I am becoming more and more convinced.
This song is always fun to listen to, I must have listened to it over a thousand times playing Fallout NV lol. Great cover, I love the work you guys put out! Burn it down was how I found you guys and I'm happy I did!
Its an amazing day when a new Big Iron cover is out. Its an absolutely incredible day when its a cover that slaps this fucking hard, this is probably the closest to a cinematic epic version their is, love the brass and bells man, this is defiantly up towards the top of my Big Iron covers list if not second(fist is the og, always).
Definitely did the song justice. This was amazing and seems to fit really well into the CoG theme. Now it's stuck in my head so I'll just have to keep listening until it stops.
Extremely well done cover of a classic country western song. I am once again impressed by the performance of this band. I hope this song does well for you.
I will never tire of this song and this is one of my fav bands covering it so that is already a glorious thing itself. The pans are the whipped cream on top 😊
You guys have been killing these covers! I grew up listening to Marty Robbins' Gunfighter Ballads album. Amazing job at taking the original and making it uniquely your own cover. Awesome job! I would absolutely flip if you ever did a cover of They're Hanging Me Tonight, my favorite song on that album.
That was incredible! I loved the instruments, your voice, everything just worked beautifully! Marty Robbins would be proud! Keep up the good work John! Can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!
As a long-time fan of Marty Robbins, I think he would have approved of your cover of his classic song. He was gifted and a bit campy, too. Nicely done.
I find it crazy how the way I discovered your amazing music was Spotify. Just was playing a game called “No mans sky” and all of a sudden The copper war came on! That was an absolute banger so I looked you up on UA-cam And a year later here I am still listening to some great music!
This cover is beyond stellar. My dad is a huge Marty Robbins fan, and I put this on for him...and watching his feet bounce to the beat was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT!!!! Now I listen to this before work to get myself ready for the daily battle :P
I have to admit I am a little disappointed that this song isn't actually about two cowboys dueling with oversized cast iron pans 😂
This video is empirical proof that the swiftness of the Ranger truly is still talked about today.
I literally have seen the same comment on The Longest Johns' cover of this song seconds ago.
@dinobanan3211 where do you think I got the idea for this one?
@@zalleus3489 I guess from where I mentioned
Marty Robin's did this song in the 60's
@@VERITAS-eh3pp May I inquire for what reason, have you thought to share this basic information known by everyone?

I feel the need to wander the Mojave wasteland. With my big Iron.
Had to scroll too long for this comment
And to finally deliver my platinum chip to mister House.
Astounding music as expected, the thumbnail gag of it being (big) iron pans absolutely killed me. Keep up the amazing music!
"And the notches on his skillet numbered one and nineteen more."
Seriously, I was disappointed when Cog is Dead didn't make good on that thumbnail. Such a tease!
PAN SHOT!
A comically large golf club could have worked too.
Or a comically large iron for ironing clothes just hanging from his belt.
Yea, I kept waiting for a scene with frying pans!
Great music as always

Totally agree! Next to Marty Robbins this is prolly one of my favorite versions of the song

Well that's now three different versions of this song in my "road trip" playlist, absolutely love this!
The original, longest Johns, and now The cog is dead?
Look up the 40K parody of this called "Bolt Gun".
There's also a Mandalorian parody version that's called Big Mandalorian Iron.
Both of those slap.
Wow--- you captured the big & powerful sound of Westerns and western music so well. I always love your covers!!!
Let's all take a moment to appreciate the musicianship, the arangement, the filming, and all the hard work that paid off in spades! This sounds like it was taken right out of a Spaghetti Western, and I can't get enough!

no way my favorite band playing one of my favorite songs!
The Cog is Dead Musical Universe is wild if you stop and consider all the songs to be taken place in one universe
I like how this video just smashes other recent videos in terms of views. Big Iron is truly legendary.
Holy shit-this rendition is so fire, it almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter! 🤠
John's voice is awesome for country! really do hope we hear even more country covers
Perfect so good to have a high quality version of this ❤
Extremely well done cover of a classic country western song. I am once again impressed by the performance of this band. I hope this song does well for you.
This is one of my favorite classic cowboy songs and it works well in your style. Thank you for covering this classic.
I know that in the original song the Big Iron is a gun, but it’s funny to imagine that the ranger somehow shot a built with a frying pan.
Edit: bullet
Nah, he just chucked the pan at Texas Red *_really hard._*
I will never tire of this song and this is one of my fav bands covering it so that is already a glorious thing itself. The pans are the whipped cream on top 😊

This brings much joy.
I love this! It is so much fun!
Love the rhythm and the atmosphere of the song ! Awesome 😄
My brain is so broken by all the parodies of this song that when I clicked, I just assumed it was another one.
Seeing this uploaded made me realize you hadn't covered it yet... which is a surprise, admittedly.
Enchanting voice as always!! Loving so much this cover!!
I haven't heard that song in years, thank you for this. I forgot how good a storyteller Marty Robbins was. Have you done any more of his stuff?
