There are two versions of Ai one is how she feels from inside or you can say real her on the other hand the second is how she is to the world , outer self/ fake self. And yeah in the japanese version of this song it's completely on different level fully engaging and mind blowing that's why it's become first anime op reaching 100 millions Fastest (34-35 day's ) this season is full of wonderful OP as you mentioned like skip and Loafer, hells paradise, heavenly Delusions, The Legendary hero is dead, i got a cheat skill in another world and become unrivalled in the real world too ( guilty Pleasures) and oshi no ko on top of all ❤️.

While the lyrics are largely unchanged you should try to listen to the Japanese version with subtitles.
The lyrics are absolute gold, there are things like her calling herself Maria which may be a parallel to Mary. Moreover Maria is said to mean "star of the sea," "rebellion," "bitter sea," and "drop of the sea." Maria is also associated with the meaning "beloved" and "wished for child".
Plus there’s details like the choir says “you’re my saviour, my saving grace”

    Rabbit in Japanese = Usagi
For the word "sagi", it also means 詐欺 (to lie) in Japanese.
This means, AI wearing a rabbit costume on the stage - covering in lies/to lie
At last, she can finally put down the rabbit mask and say out her words without lying anymore. AISHITERU❤

For us YOASOBI fans, an English version is not to be compared to the original over which one is better to listen to. Because its obvious the japanese version flows naturally into your ears. But for YOASOBI, they are able to translate words and sounds to match and flow together so you get to hear Ikura flex her ENGLISH ( which gets better every time and we are so proud of her progress over the years ) and still sound similar to the Japanese words so it becomes a mini game to go back and look at which parts are GENIUSLY translated.

The shadow is the part of yourself that you suppress subconsciously and hide from people (this is what the Persona games based themselves on) That’s what the 2 sides of Ai are, her shadow and her persona.

Both JP version and EN version's lirycs tell you the story of this manga in the song. Like short movie is contained in this 3 minutes song) that's what I like it. Also match the sound JP and EN words some. That's the more it made me moved my heart.

The ai we see throughout the 1st episode is just the mask she uses to hide her true self. The only instances we see the 'real' ai was her inner dialogue and death scene. She uses her charisma and lies for masking so much that, if you read 45510 short story you'll see that even her bandmate who was jealous of her didn't accept the imperfect ai which leads to the words in the rap part of the song

    You know what??
After Oshi no Ko became popular in South Korea, many KPop idols did a dance challenge with this song in TikTk.
BUT what I feel about that is not something sweet and happy, I think the KPop idols want to convey that their lives are the same as the lyrics of this song.
They look happy and their life look perfect.. but who knows the pain and lies they harbor to become a perfect Idol..
