Thank you to Wes Mitchell @MitchellsBackyardLogging for the excellent light bars! I am so excited to get to use them and let me tell ya, they are NICE!
Also thank you to Mike @TheRustyGarageandHomestead for the Ratchet Scrench seen in this video. Love the tool man!
Almost a must to have a short wrench or scrench with a full wrap.
Yep.... I am less likely to have a bunch of those saws in the future. I wouldn't mind a couple but I mostly would rather have no wrap. That could change in the future however. Thanks again man!
Oh it's hard to see the logo bar taken off. Doug did a great job those bars.
100% agree! The process cannot be done on the light bars either because they have like non metallic areas on them.
Nice catch on how that chain came out of the package! Some things have to be seen to be believed. Excited to see the testing results👍🏻
I couldn't believe it! The next chain I wasn't so lucky one. Sometimes I feel really dumb when I dont just untangle the thing. hahaha
Looking forward to these tests
Thanks man!
Great video Mr Joe
Thank again Mike!
Good morning!
Morning sir! Thanks for being here again!
Looking forward to all of it!
Me too sir! I may just get a brand new saw and take it apart without even running it! Muffler mod and all!
Awesome, can't wait!
Thank you Mark. Hopefully it is a good show!
Can't wait to see the test results
I have the video just have not had a chance to edit it yet. I honestly have no clue what one was strong. I also feel another redo coming up once I get the other cylinder on a saw. Hopefully not too long before that can happen! Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Leather boot break in is super simple with a good full grain leather boot (not membrane lined, goretex type membranes have NO place in a leather boot).
I have used this method on a lot of "trashed" surplus boots to good effect. I initially use good old school saddle soap (not needed on new boots), after that dries I give them a good coat of neetsfoot oil as required and over the course of about a week while wearing them apply Obenaufs liberally until they have formed to my feet. With new boots the Obenaufs is good enough to form them to a good fit.
As for saw vs saw, I place very little stock in such things but they are amusing to watch.
Great tips on the leather care! I need to make sure I take good care of these beauties for sure. They should last me quite some time as long as I am treating them right. Love your process too! As far as the tests go, I appreciate you swinging on in on them but I fully understand if they do not mean much to you. Your time is appreciated and thanks again for the leather tip!
@@oakiewoodsman let me be clear, I like watching them but people often take saws with very different intended applications and pit them off against each other. Case in point, the Echo 620 is pretty close to the epitome of the firewood saw while the Stihl 460 is what I would consider a good felling saw.
That doesn't mean that I don't like watching the comparison, it is still chainsaw action. I likely wouldn't use my Homelite XL 701am for firewood but it would make a nasty feller if I ever needed it. My McCulloch Titan 57 is a gas sipping all around firewood saw while my Proyama PCS68 is a lot higher strung and loves to drink. The Proyama will outcut the McCulloch and the Homelite in speed but so far it isn't very efficient on fuel. The Homelite is still waiting for one part before she goes into rotation but I have no doubt it will beast mode most jobs.
However, I won't put the XL 701am up against a Stihl 044, 046 or 460, 462 as a serious comparison either.
Basically, just keep doing you.
Everything you said makes lots of sense! Appreciate your thoughts on it @turtlewolfpack6061 !
Should be a good test with the same chains - wonder what the chain blame gang will point to next? 😉😉
gonna be some fun! I have already done some cutting just have not edited yet! Thank you @902hand7
Nice video, Joe! Looking to the test🙏🏿🇺🇸🪓
Thank you James. Always appreciate you being here!
👍👍 will be some good future content! Nice gifts from MBYL and RGH !
I think so myself. Cannot wait to edit the cutting footage. I am going to do it again however once I have that new cylinder on a saw..... hopefully soon!
Theres that big husky. Was wondering when it was gonna make an appearance.
I think you may be the only one that made it to that point sir! It is running well. Needs some work but I just could not resist getting it out to cut a few cookies!
Stihl light bars are the bomb. Cost a bloody fortune. Worth it 👌, run a saw all day? Can definitely feel the difference 😊
I have heard over and over they are the best. I can tell you the thing feels VERY light and it seems super stiff. I think I will enjoy it! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Morning
Mornin sir
Morning Todd!
Keep grinding!
Will do buddy! You Too!
Hopefully, the backdrag on the scrench loosens up after some time/use. They do have too much backdrag
I am really not sure if it will all that much. They feel as if they have a pretty stout spring in there. I do not think it is a friction thing. It is just fine though because it is still usefull!
With an adaptor you should be able to run that stihl bar on the echo also which I’m sure you already know.
Thank you sir! I currently have two Stihl to Husky adapters and I suppose I could put the echo to husky adapters into the STIHL to Husky adapters.... hahahaha
@@oakiewoodsman I meant that you can get echo to Stihl adapters lol but that might work too
Hahahahaa… I was just thinking about using what I got!
@@oakiewoodsman I mean there’s always a way!
Indeed!
The chain blame. Hey Joe.
Hahaha! Thanks for stopping by Kenny! Glad to have you back friend! How was your time away?
@oakiewoodsman I'm wore out lol. Good to be back.
Glad you are back and home safely sir. Did you enjoy yourself?
@oakiewoodsman sure did. Now to get caught up.
Good news! Excited to see what you got coming!
Since you like your 562XP so much, you should really give the Stihl MS 400C a try. Put a barkbox on that saw and it produces almost 6HP of power, while being 200g lighter than the 562XP.
Would love to have one! One my list of desirable saws! Thanks for mentioning!
@@oakiewoodsman My interest in these saws is partly for use, and partly to educate myself on 2-cycle engines. I rebuilt a badly worn 562xp completely, and absolutely love running it, but I did note like you that it has some heat management issues.
I've now rebuilt 2 MS400C's, and am planning to sell one soon, but I have used them long enough to learn that they are much more robust when it comes to mitigating heat buildup, and generally tend to be more reliable than my 562xp. I would really like an aftermarket muffler like you've got for your Husky, but can't seem to find them, unfortunately.
Long story short, mechanically, the MS400C is a superior design, with the one exception being that it needs a better oiler than it comes with stock. You can swap in a high-output pump from an MS461 to fix that, though.
Gotcha! Good information for sure makes sense because they are slightly underwhelming stock from my understanding and have certainly more displacement. Could be that the 562 is simply pushing too much in a package that tight. Physically the 562 is packaged tighter isn’t it? I know the 400 is a tad light but I think it isn’t as compact. STIHL saws have a tendency to feel hollow and cheap to me in comparison. However, they do indeed perform as intended. Thanks for sharing and good luck!
@@oakiewoodsman The MS400C is actually overall almost identical to the 562, the difference being that the 562 has a smaller appearance because of the starter housing curving in, rather than straight-faced like the 400. The 562xp does look more visually pleasing, but I care more about performance, personally.
@@albertkropp I hear ya! Thanks!
Hey man I was wondering what are the new echo products that are coming out this year
I address this towards the end of the video. Best response I can give. Thanks for watching
👍🆙OW
Thank you DR!
