Watching all different types of SEO and sem content over the past weeks has made my head spin, made my stomach churn, and make my heart ache. This was a relief.
Appreciate the info, you guys are unique & I’ve learned a lot. Honestly, what I like the best about this channel is the vibe - you guys seem downright neighborly. Almost like the dudes down at the local bike shop where I go to get my flat tires fixed - knowledgeable, funny, don’t-take-yourselves-too-seriously & just comfortable to be around.
Yes it might seem that way, I would not rule out link building altogether in my opinion pending the niche however what they are saying to be safe is totally spot on in my opinion... I've been in SEO for over 14 years now and seen the big G change so much.
Probably because it's wrong. As an SEO professional, I think there's a few things worth noting: First, They're showing their full traffic report in Google Analytics, not the numbers from search. Maybe that's just a rookie mistake on their end, but they don't seem like rookies so I'm not sure. Second, if you drop their site into SEM rush, only one of the top 10 sites linking to them is a worthwhile link. All of the rest are blog submission links and spam links that any site would pick up over time. If you want to rank a site that does nothing but get random Q&A traffic, you may not need to build links if you know how to do keyword research. However, if you want to build a website that actually makes you money, it's going to need some smart linkbuilding behind it.
No worries, mark. If you want to see for yourself, just check semrush.com with the domain name and you'll see. I'm always a skeptic and like to dig deeper. Note my comments above as well. 👍
Yea, right?! I am surprised that they recommand writing articles that are 3000 words long. I don't know about other site visitors, but me? When I am researching for a topic, I prefer articles that are short and concise, give me the info I am seeking quickly--I don't have the time to read a long article. If I see a looooong piece, I most likely leave and go for some shorter articles. This is especially true for recipe sites. Just give me the recipe (ingredient list and cooking instructions), I don't care to read all that blah blah blah about the author's day in life how s/he came to creating this food item.
You guys are great, you gave me back hope for building websites. I was planning for so long to create a quality niche site and after a research with all kinds of SEO tools, keyword planners etc... I gave up because of bad results in keyword traffic, competition for a keyword, competition for backlinks... I was so disappointed, but after watching your videos I realize that the only thing it matters is content and some basic keyword research. Thanks for that and keep up the good work.
I have been devouring the information on your youtube videos and am SO glad I found you ! Thank you for re-kindling my interest in building affiliate sites. I appreciate your insight and the valuable straight forward information you provide. As soon as I return from a short trip to Idaho this week, I will be signing up for the niche site school....can't wait !
Thanks Ricky and Jim for keeping it simple. It's refreshing that "the little guy" can compete without getting caught up in the SEO game with the big fish.
When I watch these guys, I feel so motivated but when I watch guys like Backlinko, Neil, Sam from Ahref....ahhh, so demotivating. Backlink is a pain in the ass!
I found your videos while trying to find decent keyword generator tools. I had a neat one, pre-Panda, and was getting very frustrated looking for a free replacement when I stumbled on your articles. You gentlemen are awesome! You've just confirmed my belief that organic links are the best. Thanks for all the great information.
Certainly, the highest quality content regarding SEO that somebody can get on the Internet is your UA-cam Channel. You people rocks! I also built a website two years ago building not even a single backlink. And in 6 months it reached from 0 to 60,000 page views per day.
I'm 15 and I just started my site about 2 months ago and in the beginning I spammed links all over the internet, I have thousands of low quality links now, when google finds me will my site be flagged and my traffic will never grow?
I was so burnt out with the video world of backlinks, seos and so on and so on until I found your videos, they are "true down to earth" info., videos at their best. I can stop stressing out now and just build my sites. Thanks a bunch now.
I've treated my blog as fun for many years and I'm just now starting to really treat it like part of my business and you guys are just so clear and easy to understand I love it - thanks.
OMG I've been preaching this to the building industry for years and have been slammed by all the "web gurus" who claim to know what they're talking about. Small companies/entrepreneurs simply do not have time to play guessing games with Google - not to mention that the "content" created by those dummies is mostly clickbait crap. Write good content - make good clean sites and THEY WILL COME - And you won't have to think about it again.
Yea, may be those "web gurus" are so emphatic about ways to manipulate Google is because their content is mostly click bait, not genuinely helpful articles.
You do understand that some businesses like the idea of recurring revenue even at the expense of giving good advice (if good advice means you only get paid once).
I watch tutorial videos literally every night about niche sites, backlinking, SEO and more and I never leave comments. I have to leave a comment. I really actually enjoyed your videos. Fresh information and ideas. Very motivational and NOT boring for once. Great stuff guys you've got my subscription!
As a non-millennial (big understatement :) I really appreciate your plain talk straight forward sharing of the path to niche sites. Staying up and learning new stuff is solid on my list and this one intrigues me. As I figure out how to turn some decades of film production, photography, (earning a living), living aboard a sail boat, building stuff for all the above etc., into niche content I'm sure to be signing up. (and now I'll go sign up for the newsletter) ... :)
You have my ear guys... (subscribed) I am all about using only correct Google methods to channel traffic to a website. I also agree that organic links do matter and Google will simply know the difference in most cases. (probably already does) That said, I think it an important consideration by those considering the path of organic article/content posting as has been outlined in this video, that I see link building should NOT be left 100% to "chance". Pointing (developing links) and shares of topic correct content to like minded groups is only one example. (ie Facebook, Google, groups of like mind) This is linked to "UI" and also where we will find content supporting a topic labeled as a useful "user experience". Please search and then consider how Google views elements of user experience (UI) as a ranking factor. Unless you are only posting an article on the respective domain, meaning not a single share anywhere, (emails, Facebook, Twitter, Comments) can you then consider this shared (in-part) method as a complete and 100% organic article/link building method. As one who reads and considers Google copyrights, follows the right G ranking engineers, knows the Google guidelines and one who has received a badge as a "Problem Solver" in the respective online Google community, I highly doubt it... We need to be careful when sharing information such as that shared in your video as I know from experience that a well planned and surgical use of links to be the best path. Content such as this attracts many hard working entrepreneurs who really need the whole picture. Basically, while what you have shared is fundamentally correct, I am not sure it is in complete alignment with the needs of most website owners. There are many more pieces to this puzzle which I do recommend to need consideration. There is simply not a single method which will universally answer a respective websites needs. It is the domain and it's hosted content which will dictate ( A.k.a "demand") the specific needs. Great Video, I just would like to share my thought that "one size" does not fit all...
I have to say of all the "How to" videos I've seen and followed, it's nice to see a "forget about what you learned" video from folks who have been in the trenches! Thanks so much for a new perspective!
Seems I'm late to this blog post but found it really helpful after trawling through hours of confusing and contradicting arguments. Thanks guys I have content to write but never realised how powerful it can be. Keep up the good work!
I have been reading your blog for a few months now and I got to say that it was your posts and videos that made me come back to old projects and see then with fresh eyes. I'm really excited to put all my experience as a digital marketing professional in my own stuff instead of other clients. After reading and seeing you I'm willing again to create awsome content, which was something I used to make for others but now I'm doing for my own niche websites. So... thank you and keep making posts and videos like this
I'm glad to hear it Samantha. You and other content creators out there are in a great position to create your own awesome niche websites! In the long run, the payoff will be passive and ongoing. It's hard to beat that!
Really awesome content, learned my new no-backlink lesson here. You guys rock! I am an asian, don't get me wrong, just like everybody else on the internet marketing, I was trying my ass out in internet marketing. It is been about a year now, and i am still struggling here. I have watched MASSIVE amount of SEO videos, but only a few of them are actually providing helpful content. And you guys are definitely one of it, Great job! hope to see more videos from you guys!
Spot on guys. I personally had a number of websites hit by a Google Algo update some years back and it cost me over 5 figures a month... was a big hit and changed my business forever.. Like many I didn't think I was doing the wrong thing. I still have a really good SEO team for building links but any page they build links to is already in a good position. With some industries, let's say a local plumber, electrician, carpet cleaner it is ultra competitive hence we need to build links. With internet marketing and creating niche sites I do believe this is where your principles are very clever and bloody awesome to say the least. Thank you for the post. Definitely a thumbs up from me. Cheers...
You are completely right, I was taught SEO years ahead of its future, and content is KING, ALL my ranking for clients is done through 100% quality content. And everyone gets #1 ranking in time and is almost unbeatable. I always say, you can get 100 backlinks and on another site get 100 quality content pages written, and in 5 years you might have 25% of those links still active, but for sure you will have 100% of that content still acting like gold for the company.
Haha so many people mislead into believing backlinks are the key to ranking. But there was always people saying just create GOOD content. I think I will go with that.
@@johnatteo822 maybe for your random low competition keywords, but you aren't ranking for the big boy keywords without a lot of high quality backlinks from high authority websites. It's not even hard to get backlinks, you just need to email websites and ask how much you need to pay to post an article or insert a link on an existing relevant article. I've been doing SEO for 8 years, so maybe you are the fool.
@@georgew1857 listen bro, if you been doing this for 8 years why the hell you watching income school videos for a new website? Lol you must of needed so guidance. I get 650k page views a month on a cat niche website I'm with the big boys ranking all the big Boi keywords son!
Keep up the good work guys and never change your style. You can tell both of you really like helping people. It's been a pleasure listening to you both talking about how to build niche sites. Keep making them videos and we all keep coming back for more.
You two always make excellent and straightforward content. I like how casual you are in your approach and that you seem really genuine. None of that self-proclaimed guru/wizard shit, just two guys sharing their methods from real life experiences. I have to say, I am quite tempted to try out your Niche Site School course. Would be cool if you made a video about how you determine what keywords to go after, you know, the steps you take etc. Cheers!
You guys make affiliate marketing sound so easy. Just purchased a course on this and I got really sad over the part where I learned that I have to do link building. The only thing I was ever good at was writing good, relevant and honest content. I don't really have the proper mindset for this link building mumbo jumbo, so I'm thrilled to know that I still stand a chance. Thank you for this. Subscribed to yor channel.
Love you guys! You make building a business not only doable but doable using a stress-free process. You are honest about the hard work required but knowing that I can succeed without worrying about all the various marketing strategies (so many others push) has made all the difference for me. Thank You!
This is a true example of a passive income without relying on backlinks and social media... Afterall, the internet is a source of information and at the end of the day, it is still the content that matters. The saying that "content is king" is exemplified by the actual niche sites cited here. Thank you so much.
You guys are the BOMB! It is so awesome for you to share all the tips and put it in such simple terms that we can all understand. You are Fantastic! Love you both!
Discovered your channel yesterday. Already hooked, because you are critical about supposed SEO trends AND you focus on niche sites! Much appreciated! Greetings from a web designer from The Netherlands!
I just love how open and honest you are! I've always said that content is the golden nugget, as long as you place decent solid content down then google will find you and you will rank. You've earnt a new subscriber :)
Hey Guys ... I love that you stress the fundamentals and the sustainability that comes with that approach. Unfortunately, it took me over 4 years of tedious work & 1000's of hours to fully understand that concept. Thanks again for your insight.
Just wanna say I admire your perseverance. Most people woulda just given up. I'm in a similar boat, slaving away at this for a year now, failing most of the time, but I will not give up, no matter what, I'm staking my life on this until I get it right. Good luck, man
This is the video I needed. There are tons of videos with "Tips and tricks" most of which contradict each other. You guys are very authentic and honest. You've given me some serious motivation now!
Dude! I stopped killing myself on backlinks after watching this. My traffic had dropped with the more work I put in. I can't explain it but this trick worked. My blog is back up in daily views. I'm almost back to my highest number thus far. Thank you so much!!!
I like these guys, they are real.. They didn't even pay me to say that.. lol... Seriously, they open up a new light to emarketing, content building, and the truth about generating revenue over time. The key words are "Over time"! Keep up the good informative work guys..
theyre good for people who are new to the market, but some of their advice is quite deceptive. Building backlinks is essential for scaling. They're just trying to get views.
Oh my a God, I am so glad I stumbled across you guys. I was making copious notes about keyword research and links. I have now deleted those notes and am making notes based on your advice. Lol love you two.
Hi Guys, I dont often comment on content and i realise this has been up a while but I have to say, you nailed it. Really informative and different from many of the others! Keep up the good work and regards from the UK.
Good content... At least someone showed the name of his site that's currently making $$$ for him... If you are genuine in your approach then there is nothing to hide I guess... Cheers 😉
this was awesome. As a "non-tech" person, I'm confused about building niche websites within the website....but the great takeaway is just do what I do best, provide well written/researched content. THANK YOU!
You guys Just awesome, I just subscribed when i get your frist video from random search. I love the way you talk.... And just inspired to do a Niche Site Soon Thanks.
Cool to finally see people that are telling their audience not to do any linkbuilding. For some reason 99% of all “SEO guru’s” still claim backlinks are the key to get ranked in Google. I have multiple pages and blog post all ranking at the top of the first page in the search results without doing any linkbuilding. Content is king. If you’re content is better then the competition you will probably outrank them at some point. Even if your competitor does have way more backlinks. Great advice from these two gentlemen.
I just found this channel and I‘m really enjoying it! Tips from other sources are often borderline immoral and spammy, bit your advice is just genuine and honest!
Hey guys I would love to win that niche website! Signed up for the newsletter :) I just checked out your knifeup website and it looks top quality. I was considering doing link building but I guess that is not the way forward. I really would LOVE that niche website guys!!!
How is your traffic now? Spring of 2017 it all changed for us. We built our sites EXACTLY the same way you did: Wordpress, detailed content, and NO LINKING - ZERO - ZILCH - NADA. Even in high competing financial niches it worked great. We would do the same thing. Add about 40 pieces of solid well written content and let it go. Worked since 2008 for us and it was amazing. Traffic tanked in Mayish 2017 and continued to drop and drop and drop. What used to be a 17K - 20K monthly in come is now $1300 total.
Our traffic is better than ever. Amazon earnings have steadily declined due to a number of factors, but our overall earnings are also better than ever.
This is the same with UA-cam. Get something like, UA-cam Buddy to help with tags. Plan like, 30-60 days of content, post once a day for 30-60 days, then announce a regular schedule and stick to it. Other than that, be open, create excitement with your attitude and make good content. Ofc, there's a few other small things to do as well. But that's what got me to 5k subs in a year and a half give or take. But work made me slow down on content.
I absolutely agree that backlinking is not unneeded but just overrated. Just as you said if the content and SEO is good and relevant Google will recognize it. I managed to bring a client's eShop to #1 page of Google with just good On-page SEO on product pages. It just takes time for Google to crawl it and rank it. And revenues jumped in a few months by 6x and now it rose 10x. Of course, this Corona situation is killing it right now, but still has sales.
You guys have a really good vibe! I've been working on my site non-stop and needed this motivation boost, glad I found it! I would really like it if you could make a video about the content itself and how you create a good article. English is not my first language so it's not easy for me to sit and write it all myself.
Just trying to get started with affiliate marketing. Currently in the middle of a "Income School" video marathon. Your videos are a breath of fresh air, keep them coming.
Is that Ave Maria School of Law I see in the corner? I did look at several of your sites and wondering, for your purposes, which theme did you choose? What was the price or what would it be today?
just blown away by the value of what you guys are sharing! Honestly iam the first one to admit we are VERY impatient that we are fighting for instant gratification. we want to make money like right now...everything is NOW OR NEVER... this video has truly made me realize the value of patience and consistent it truly PAYS!
Please allow me to ask for some clarifications: you say you wrote several articles 1) where did you write them? 2) where did you upload them? 3) did you use a special software for uploading to Google? Thank you for your kind clarifications
So, what you're saying is that all I need to do is create 20 articles or so & post them on my Insta & FB & my shop then Google will just plck it up and send me traffic? I'm an experienced writer so should I focus on this and save on ad spend?
Yes. Don’t spend on ads to drive traffic to blog posts. Many of our newer videos illustrate this much more. If you create the right content, you’ll get far more organic search traffic than you could ever afford to get through paid traffic.
@@IncomeSchool OK Thanks mate. I've got a Shopify store and I have been focusing on SEO, Insta & FB while working on building up copy. This sounds great. Thanks again.
Wow guys! This is amazing! I'm going to start building a niche site every month following your strategy. I've tried in the past and haven't had much success. Thank you
Hi guys, great content , finally found a channel that knows what they’re talking about. Learning so much watching your stuff. I’m a newbie at niche marketing , and appreciate all the stuff your teaching. Signed up for your newsletter.
I am so happy that I stumbled upon your video which led to your website. Your approach is far better that all the other "do this and get rich" people. My listening to them has led to lost money. Totally changed my thinking. Thank you.
Hey, Tanx for Video.... So Content is King, as per Google, but the hard question is how do you create the content that will get looked at and linked to? Is that something that you offer in your marketing courses?
Thanks, guys! You come into my life at just the right time. I'm disabled, so have been concentrating just on activities I can do to continue contributing to our finances while confined to a wheelchair. Have laptop and ready to learn! Will be signing up for the NicheSiteSchool within the hour. Thanks again so much.
You are right about the tools. Neil Patel's tool tells me I have no traffic, but when I check on google analytic, I see I have some traffic coming from Pinterest. And I put some articles on my site I will see if your advice works.
I don't get it, at 7:30 he talks about the site that making 1000+ and he says soon we will run ads on it, so what is the income from then? i thought websites don't make money until Adsense is on and affiliate marketing attached to it, can anyone help to understand?
This really is so refreshing! All those hours of attempting to make quality content will hopefully pay off! I was contemplating other methods such as backlinks but maybe the key is just patience after all :)
14 months later do you still eschew link building? I remember you used to say you looked at ideas covered by websites on front page that lacked extensive back links. You knew you could beat. But surely eventually the front pages will be full of sites with extensive links as this is the method taught all over?
I have always believed the same thing. Do things the right way and get best results. This is my style and you are probably one of the first UA-cam channels I have ever in my life, subscribed to. Bam there I said it!
I’ve been selling wholesale and retail since I was 16 I was born into the business. I decided to go on my own instead of taking over my fathers. And thanks to you guys I have been a marketing pro. I’m now about to be 20 and I’ve tripled my net worth every year since 16. Thanks for the help!!!
Thank you for this video. Sure it is 2020 now, but I firmly believe that the only reason people keep insisting to build backlinks is so as we will either spend our hard-earned cash on these programs that they provide or spend more time building them than is absolutely necessary. This is time I can use creating content.
People telling you take take shortcuts always sound sweeter than People telling you not to. I know who I need to listen to. You guys just earned a sub.
I have 8 posts on my website (1-month-old website) and my posts are ranked on 3rd 4th pages on google. I haven't built any backlinks yet. Even I believe having great content is the key to the rank website. I am glad to watch this video as even I am not going to build any backlinks to my website. Thanks for the video let us see if my site is able to push itself up on the first page with no backlinks, 1 DA, and 1 PA.
The strategy is the same as becoming popular in high-school. You can either pay a bunch of people to talk good things about you (building backlinks yourself) or just become really great at something like football (writing great content for a specific niche)..... using the second approach, people will automatically start talking about you without you paying them...
Hi guys, you're great. If you can explain to me a dilemma ... the site you gave and showed the visit on the video (11:18 min) ... there is a falling curve on the chart, it loses visit ... what's going on? Is this site on its way to losing a visit so you want to get rid of it or something else ... thanks.
Čudotvornost prirode That’s just data for the current week which was only a partial week because it was on a Tuesday. There wasn’t any loss in traffic.
You guys are rocking! The amount of useful information you give is awesome. I love the way you simplifying the content and for me as a not native English speaker, you are so easy to follow. Thumbs up! I am a affiliate in Europe and the way that is done over here is so different to what you do. I would really, really like to start a American affiliate website. Following your school and maybe one day enroll. Keep up the good work, I am taking in all your advise and enjoy your videos very much.
Wow! I can't believe how much time I've wasted building PBNs and guest posting. So far, nothing has helped except for time. Thanks for the advice. I plan to spend my time writing quality articles instead of backlink building.

As I figure out how to turn some decades of film production, photography, (earning a living), living aboard a sail boat, building stuff for all the above etc., into niche content I'm sure to be signing up. I am all about using only correct Google methods to channel traffic to a website. I also agree that organic links do matter and Google will simply know the difference in most cases. (probably already does)
That said, I think it an important consideration by those considering the path of organic article/content posting as has been outlined in this video, that I see link building should NOT be left 100% to "chance".
I like the honesty in your video and there is no fake promises ..and no fast tricks ..thats a high quality lesson.
"but only a few of them are actually providing helpful content." and funnily enough that is the secret to success lol
Why the heck UA-cam recommended this video in 2019. I wish I had watched this years ago!

Good content will only rank you so far. Competitive keywords 100% need active link building.
@@georgew1857 no you don't need backlinks fool just keep creating content!
@@johnatteo822 with link building or not??
Keep up the good work guys and never change your style. You can tell both of you really like helping people. It's been a pleasure listening to you both talking about how to build niche sites. Keep making them videos and we all keep coming back for more.

YOU ARE RIGHT!
everyone here is gonna be successful.
Cheers!
Very interesting. I always thought getting backlinks was a very long-winded thing to have to do, manually.
Hey income school thank you all, my life is changed from poverty and I am on my way to financial freedom!
Love you guys! You make building a business not only doable but doable using a stress-free process. You are honest about the hard work required but knowing that I can succeed without worrying about all the various marketing strategies (so many others push) has made all the difference for me. Thank You!
Nice to see an uncomplicated and straightforward approach for a change!
Thought it was just me doing this!
Don't tell everyone though, let them keep buying links from us :P
Good luck, man
Still can't get over all the facts you are bringing to the table. You guys are truly awesome.
You guys rock! I'm saving hard to join your Project 24. If it's anything like this it's going to be awesome!
You guys are the only one who share what is really happening back of their websites. Thumbs up for you guys
Watching this I guess i'm too focused on backlinking ;)

This is the video I needed. There are tons of videos with "Tips and tricks" most of which contradict each other. You guys are very authentic and honest. You've given me some serious motivation now!
Love the information. Right now I'm on Day 34 of niche site school. Almost finished. Would love if I won the contest so I can add it to my portfolio.
I am on Day10..Good to know.
I am on day 7 ;)
Dude! I stopped killing myself on backlinks after watching this. My traffic had dropped with the more work I put in. I can't explain it but this trick worked. My blog is back up in daily views. I'm almost back to my highest number thus far. Thank you so much!!!
Love's Deepwaters so you did what they talked about in this video and it worked?
James Wilkinson yes, there was definitely an increase when I stopped link building and a major drop when I started back
Cool! Thanks for sharing your feedback.
Love you guys! Amen to honesty, and just plain giving the customers what they want. Good business practice in any market.
It's really good to know that quality content is more than backlinks.
Es indeed.. That motivates
This really sounds good. Thank you. I never did like the idea of not spending endless time working on comments.
And just inspired to do a Niche Site Soon
Thanks.
You are both amazing! Such an inspiration for us all to shine. THANK YOU!
Also subbed to your channel and liked the video.
Do you sell any of your blog sites?
Thanks again.
where did you start your blogs on, i want to try it and see if this can help for me.
That's the main focus of our course.
What about bad backlinks (negative SEO) do you disavow them?
Great video. Have a query. When you say you make x thousand dollars a month, do you mean the revenue through Google ad sense?
I love your sit and wait philosophy! This video has been a great help. Thanks!
Should you make domain preferred to www. or does that matter ? and do I need to use site maps? Could this cause traffic issues if i dont ?
