A black and white photograph of Onomichi from the 1950s has been turned into color.
There are nostalgic things like Onomichi city, Onomichi Port Festival, Onomichi Mukojima Route Ferry, and boats going through Onomichi Channel.
I'm sure everyone has various memories and scenes from the Showa era.

The Onomichi Ohashi Bridge has not yet been built, and the scenery looks great and has a different atmosphere than it does now.
When I look at the roofs of the cityscape, I am reminded of the buildings of the Showa era.
There was a time when shopping streets did not yet have arcades. The photo of the shopping street wet from the rain has a melancholy feel to it.

The parade through the shopping district and the boats on the Onomichi Channel can only be described through photos.
I wonder what the kids who were dancing at the port festival are doing now...

Many ships were coming and going in the city that flourished as a peddler. Many people also came by boat from the island to buy large items and groceries.
[Onomichi - Mukojima Ferry]
Photos of the ferry in front of the station and the Kaneyoshi ferry at the time. At that time, ferries were small boats that could not carry cars.
The scenery of Onomichi seen from Mukojima is as beautiful as ever. I miss the Hiroshima Bank signboard that I could see from Kaneyoshi.

まだ尾道大橋がなく、商店街にはアーケードがないんですね。あと、向島の人は、自家用車を持ってたのかな、持ってたとすれば何で運んだんだろうなどと思ってしまいました。
昭和30年代の貴重な写真を見せていただき、ありがとうございました。
大林宣彦監督が10代後半か20代前半の頃に見てた尾道風景。
「時かけ」「さびしんぼう」あたりがギリギリの懐かしい風景だったのかなぁ。
向島町に友人がいました。
