I've just received the Xuanwu, and I confess that they are amazing mids, and male and female voices, as well as strings, sound wonderful on them. I didn't imagine that sub-bass and bass could have all this presence, punch and definition. The Xuanwu reminded me of the iconic TRN V20, with very similar lows and highs, but the Xuanwu surpassed the midrange of the V20, in my opinion. I really liked Xuanwu.
Great review. Although, I'd change the order to: 1st hearing, 2nd testing 3rd EQ response Please do a followup if you can. EQing is essentially seeing an iem's latent potential.
I was waiting a lot for this review. Weird tuning. Anyway, unfortunately all planar under $100(Dioko) are LowFi products. I would like the reviews to address how the product behaves with equalization and whether any possible tuning problems can be corrected.
Good morning from Toronto…☕️☕️ I just got the WU’s ..they’re exactly what they present as ..a $150 planar iem. However, this is showing how low you can go ….and then the question is ..what will be the new technology/ price breakthroughs in ‘23. Best of the Christmas season to you and yours.
Honestly, the 7hz zero is better but not in a general way. If you like music with a ton of distortion and heavy/punchy music, go with the zero. But, if you like bassy/classical music or less bassy, go with the xuanwu
@@archie7288 are you sure Khan will be better than Olina SE? I have not tried Khan yet but I've tried TruthEar Zero which has similar sound signature and I prefer Olina SE
If the music you listen to has too overwhelming bass would you be able to hear the details of the violins? No right? As for resolution is more of the clarity of the sound a speaker produces
@@ianfann I know from recent articles that clarity is not ditectly connected to resolution, but maybe the trems are subjective to each individual. I own the moondrop kato, lestshuoer z12 and sennheizer ie800, and cannot find a difference between them in the micro details but more so in soundstage and imaging, especially with the ie800 being more narrow and less deep than the kato and the z12. Perhaps because its older than the other two
I'm not quite sure about "details" but I'm pretty sure about resolution. In my case, I've tried two different cheap sets from one brand. They are Jcally ME and Jcally MN. I feel ME is definitely low res than MN. And then compared Jcally MN with CCA CRA (original). I feel MN is low res compared to CRA. You probably should buy some cheap sets (and then compare those to your existing sets) to know the difference and to "reset" your ears
@@wanaboed Great idea! I immediately dig my old stash and found the my Shure SE215. That thing is older than my son. And you are right about resetting ears. How low res they are (I believe I bought them for about $100) compared to today’s sub $50 stuffs.
@@andy.w How come does that thing still work? 😂 Resetting ears is definitely important for this hobby. I dunno for the perfect pitch individual, but for an average person is necessary every once in a while
A fairly typical Dynamic Driver (ish) Voice Coil, sandwiched between (fairly) potent magnets (like most Planar Drivers). What's not to love?, good for Bellsing and their rather-good-for-the-price Square Planar Drivers (but f*ck their Balanced Armatures, mediocre at best).
Ian is too diplomatic to give this pair a recommendation, well yeah granted recommendation for the hardware but this is a pair of iems that should not see the light of the day at all. It sounds horrible, sure the bass is good just like those from TA1 Max but TRN seems to have trouble tuning treble, the max’s treble is inconsistent but listenable but this XuanWu is downright annoying. One redeeming item is the new ear tips, love it and went on to order 6 sets. Btw, the hexagonal design depicts tortoise shell.

Letshuoer s12 is 110U$ at Shopee and Aliexpress
I buy one and try to EQ tuning it but it still harsh on the treble with sibilance
I hope it can answer your curiosity

Should I buy this over the waner? Or the Salnotes zero? Thanks.
thankyou sir for the reviews
in general speaking, how would you compare it to MT3 and 7hz Zero? which one is better to have it? thanks

It's $24.85 now. Damn, the price of planars has hit rock bottom
They are not true planars tho
how about tangzu shimin li
Will this be an upgrade from my qkz x hbb?
I bet they are not. Different sound signature
Qkz x hbb khan are the best iem, u need an upgrade

Crazy how planar can be so cheap these day.

Great review but not for me.
Square Planar 🤗 this is Not Real Planar driver 🤗 because it has Coil with Square design 😁
It lies wholly on a single plane, hence a planar

@hai janaba non to be honest. Maybe zero for the same price . Or final audio. Of shouzy 1.1 form.
