    New hobby.... i just needed a new caseback...Got a couple swiss army watches on ebay for a few dollars and put a battery in the other one. It started working but the stem was broken .3 months later and I'm hooked. Looking forword to my first deep dive. Very greatful. I think sometimes all the very helpful restoration sites forget about the inexpensive quartz builds but these types of watches seem perfect to start on. No balnce wheels but I'm using training wheels. Mahalo.

    Perfect, I have the exact same movement to fix up and you answered all of my questions. Thank you!

    Thank you for the video. What is the oil needed for this watch?

      You are welcome. You can use Moebius 8200 for keyless works and 9000 for the train wheels.

    Excellent video! I enjoyed the magnification of the broken wheel. And if course the smiley face on your work table. It's a nice looking field watch.

    Greetings, I have a MWC using the ISA 1198 movement (Chinese assembled from Swiss parts, so officially "Swiss made"); has been continuously running for just over 30 years now with regular battery/gasket changes.

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  Рік тому

      Nice story, thank you for sharing! Does the watch still illuminates? I learned that MWC watches have tritium on dial for illumination, but I also know that tritium's half life is 12.5 years.

      Hello, it has the circle T logo on the dial, but no more illumination.

    I have a Gitano moon phase with day date. Not sure if you’ve heard of this watch. The piece that goes underneath the battery right across the middle broke off. How do I find a replacement for it

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  8 місяців тому +1

      I think you are talking about a battery lead, located at the bottom of the battery compartment. You need to find the same donor model or similar to replace the broken part. Good luck!

    Replace battery and not working, any ideas?

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  25 днів тому

      Did it work with a previous battery until it discharged? Then it could be not good new battery. Otherwise, a lot of possible reasons. Does second hand tries to move, jumping back and forth? Could be a piece of dirt inside, dirty pivot holes, or even broken tooth on some gear. You need to disassemble it to find out.

      @ValentechTime brand new batter and got no movement

    I have a Victorinox 241375. Had it serviced to adjust the timing. When putting it back together, having issues with the dial is not seating properly onto the movement. There’s a little hook that is not locking properly. Have you encountered this and how did you fix it (if you have seen this issue)?

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  Рік тому

      Hi Amit! I did not have this issue, so cannot comment on it. Hopefully, you have already resolve this.

    Another good video by Valentech! Where did you find that spare wheel assembly? Did you source it from another 1198? Thanks! 👍

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for the comment! Yes, I found an incomplete movement of the same model on eBay. Fortunately, the needed part was there and it was also in good shape.

    Good evening please, what would be the replacement for this isa 1198 movement since that same piece that is defective I cannot find it for sale? ??? Thank you very much in advance from Caracas Venezuela

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Jorge! Manuel Rukoz Torres! I took a spare part from my another 1198 movement, which otherwise was defective. You might want to find and buy a defective 1198 movement, with a hope that the part you need is not broken. Good luck !

    I have this same movement, which I purchased used, no battery. It kept time, at first, but then got stuck after a few days. Now it doesn't make it past 1/2 a day, and it gets stuck. Turning the crown when it is stuck definitely feels different, too much resistance. If you keep turning it will "release", getting easy to turn again (i.e. normal feel), but the problem always returns. I was thinking there was some debris getting stuck, so I watched this video (thanks!) to see how to get the crown/stem out, pulled the movement and blew it down with canned air, hoping it would clear any loose matter, but it came back....:-( Any suggestions?

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Richard! If there is a resistance during the hands adjustment, then I'd suspect a similar issue to what's shown in my video - broken tooth or teeth on some wheel, involved in the hands adjustment. It could be not the same gear, as in my case, so a disassembling will help to find out the defective part. Please let me know how it goes.

    Does this movement have a hacking function that needs to be reset when you reassemble it? I just finished correcting a similar issue with the 1198 I have. It worked before I worked on it and now it does not run? Any kind of reset necessary???

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  3 роки тому +2

      Nothing is special in this movement from starting point. As you can see in my video, the only what's is needed to start the watch is to insert a battery. Did you check the coil resistance? The coil could easily be damaged during assembling-disassembling.

      @@ValentechTime Hello,from Brazil! Could you please post a video teaching how to test the coil and the circuit of this movement? I have no idea how to do that. I’d very thankful! All the best and thank you for this lesson.

      @@sergiohegner8844 Hello, Sergio, I have a few videos, dedicated to replacing coils. In one of those I explain how to test the coil using digital voltmeter (DVM). Analog volt/ohmmeter could be used as well. The video is at ua-cam.com/video/-agIHjwYwMg/v-deo.html. The section of your interest starts at 3:52 and ends at 4:35. Hope this is what you asked about. Whoa! That movement has “made in China” stamped on it! I thought a Swiss watch in order to receive the Swiss made stamp, needed for the item to have over 80 percent of the components from Switzerland. Are they lying?

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  Рік тому +1

      This is a good catch on your side! I did not see it when worked on the watch. The thing is that the cover plate that you see at 13:35 was taken from the donor movement where the replacement part came from. The original plate did not have this statement about China, but it had a stamp as a SWISS (take a look at 1:45. BTW, it's saying ASSEMBLED IN CHINA, not made there. At the same time parts and watch is marked as SWISS MADE. Good catch again!
