  • Interested in visiting one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Eastern Sierra? In this video, I'll be sharing some tips from my visit to Rainbow Falls and Lower Falls in Mammoth Lakes California.
    Rainbow Falls is the tallest waterfall in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 101 Feet. Rainbow Falls and nearby Lower Falls are located in Devils Postpile National Monument in Mammoth Lakes, California. If you are visiting Rainbow Falls and Devils Postpile in the summer, you'll have to catch the Red Meadows Shuttle. Also, don't skip out on Lower Falls. It's only another .9 miles from the Rainbow Falls Overlook, and it's totally worth the extra mile 😊.
    Let me know in the comments which waterfall was your favorite!

      You mentioned it was a 1.5 mile hike but the sign said 5 miles? Did I read it wrong?? Just trying to see if it’s easy enough for my mom to walk lol

    Wow, spectacular falls! When I was young, my family camped at Devil's Postpile. It was on the upper San Joaquin river. We also used to rent a cabin at June Lakes. I was a fisherman back then and caught lots of trout in both places.

    Pro tip. Going to the hot tubs in Reds Meadow and Devils postpile in winter is the best on snowmobiles. There is a ton of cool stuff to see in winter on a sled you can't see in summer. Been going to Mammoth for 40 years and lived there for 3.
    I still haven't seen it all. Still a few mines I want to see.

    • @GabriellaViola
      @GabriellaViola  3 роки тому

      oh wow i didn't know there is hot springs at red meadows?..those pools at the top of lower falls reminded me of hot springs but im sure they are freezing to jump into

    • @GT-mn3bx
      @GT-mn3bx 3 роки тому

      @@GabriellaViola At Reds Meadows where the hot tubs are, you leave 20 foot of snow at the top. The closer you get to them in dead winter the snow gets thinner and then warm mud all around them. First time I saw them was 1995 on a sled at 2:30 AM. Couldn't believe how warm it was near them. No suit, but we went back another time.

    Pretty cool falls. Thx By the way, you do not want to go home yet. It is a nightmare that keeps getting scarier.. The fire is at Echo and trying to go down into the Tahoe Basin....yikes. You cannot breath the air at over 400 AQI.

    • @GabriellaViola
      @GabriellaViola  3 роки тому +1

      oh I know i was there! i went back after Mammoth and I regretted it, but now im on the east coast staying with fam for a bit till it gets contained, which will hopefully be soon, i hate seeing Tahoe like this 🙏🙏. Are you there? or are you going to try and get out of Tahoe

      @@GabriellaViola I was there last weekend. Drove out to see what Markleeville looked like. Then went over the pass to Lake Topaz. The Carson Valley was so smoky it looked like Tule Fog, so I hurried back up highway 88 found a clear spot below Silver Lake to photograph the Blue Sturgeon Moon and Jupiter. The entire forest is closed with no where to camp so I just left. I might head up again Sunday or Monday. Stay safe in your travels.
