Man my experience of this game is walking/running a lot, shooting a lot, driving a lot, dringkin malaria medicine a lot, buddy missions a lot, enemies everywhere a lot and the sound of roaring vehicles when they find you still haunts me to this day. 10/10 would play again

There's just one thing the story may evolve quite differently even though ending would be the same anyways. For starters you can be rescued from first fight by both sides and because of that start with any of them. While choosing quests you may take them from only one faction two or three times in a row and this side will grow strong enough so you'll lose chance to do quests for other side in this part of game including ending of first part with otherwise can be done for either of the sides.
Other thing about it's storyline is that was made to fit gameplay. FC2 isn't a hero fantasy game. I mean by that you don't really have any special abilities comparing to npcs. You can't mark them and then see through the walls, machete jump them from 5 floors high, hide in a single bush and bow hunt one enemy after another without them noticing or anything in that manner. All of this is to put you in a position where you are meaningless for the world, your actions don't impact the world too much you are just happening to be there. You are cancer cell like everyone involved because you are involved just like them not a superhero who came to singlehandedly rescue the world. And that's why even though you are doing good thing at the end you need to pay for redemption.
Just finished the game. It was an interesting and fresh experience. It had some issues though. Driving gets tedious, especially when there are people shooting at you. Seriously, I thought the constant attacks in the newer games were annoying but this was on another level. You can’t even shot while driving. Missions get boring real quick. Game is crashing every 10th time I try to save. Still enjoyed the game. I want a remake but that won’t ever happen.
I think the story had potential to be one of the best in the series but the potential was not fully realised. Another issue with the story is how quickly the actors say their lines (I think one of the actors confirmed that the devs made the actors talk too quickly) and The Jackal having a stereotypical gruff bad guy voice combined with his fast talking undermined an interesting character.
If Ubisoft ever decides to remake Far Cry 2 they should keep the gameplay mostly untouched (because the gameplay is the main reason why people like this game) but they should redo the story. I think they should hire Nicolas Cage to play The Jackal because I have a feeling Ubisoft used Nicolas Cage's character from the 2005 film Lord of War as an inspiration for The Jackal. Plus Nicolas Cage himself is open to acting in video games since he appears in Dead by Daylight as a DLC character.
They talk fast when talking to you. After entering factions houses you can stay outside the room and hear leaders talking about quest. They talk differently. But since you're not really trusted nor welcome there talk fast just to get rid of you.
That was one of the last good games...´cause after that this copy-paste gaming came in way to strong
