Thank you for your excellent review. I'm curious why you didn't consider the Riese & Muller Super Charger 2. This e-bike appears to be a more suitable and cost-effective option for your long-distance touring needs with its two 625 wh integrated Bosch batteries and drive train options, including the fabulous Rohloff speed hub with e-shifting. I used this e-bike to cycle across the United States (10,000+ km). You paid Euro 9,308 for a bike without a front suspension fork. After factoring in the cost of the fork, which is a necessity for long-distance cycling, the total cost of the bike came to Euro 10,543. The ABS system is malfunctioning in your video, which is a serious safety issue. If you add the extra battery, which costs Euro 1,990, the total cost increases even further. As an independent reviewer, have you considered purchasing the R&M Super Charger or other e-bike with a Rohloff E/14 shifting, two integrated batteries, and other necessary components? I am also curious about the regenerative braking capabilities of the ST3, as you didn't discuss the capabilities of the motor, if any, to assist with braking and charging. Most importantly, what is Stromer going to do about the ABS? This cannot be left unresolved! Sorry, sorry, I have many questions following an informative video. Let us know when you are touring the Washington DC area in the United States.
Hi Gregory, Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😄. 1) It's not my bike. I got it from Stromer for three months for the review. 2) I am working on R&M to get one. Brands are not always willing.... 3) Suspension fork. On mountainbikes with a descent they are fine, most (e or s) trekking bikes come with a crappy one. More maintenance and less luggage capabilities. 4) Regenerative braking: as far as I am aware I did discus it. It helps with saving brake pads and getting energy back but in a flat country it is hardly useless for this. Braking yes. 4) Questions...I love them. 5) Will do! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
Screw that, your right, the base price is outrageous...this is worse than a car dealership... I would only buy this bike if they go out of business and selling pennies on the dollar...
Poor people mindset. Stromer doesn't want to sell high volume, fairly priced bikes. You get top of the line, well integrated latest tech bikes, look at the new ST7 with 1.5KW battery, ABS, and electric Pinion Smart-Shift. Here in Switzerland we also have a very good dealer network for them. I don't give a fuck if it costs 5k, 10k or 15k. Your job is to make enough money so you just don't have to care how much your stupid e-bike is gonna cost.
44 Nm of torque?¿ Bosch CX has 85Nm...Not a good spec for 10k€ mind you I've never tried it. Anyone that has please comment...maybe the feeling of a mid mounted engine and rear on-wheel engine is different?¿
I'm still researching for myself but for what I understand is that indeed the mid mounted motors have a lot of loss over the chain/belt and that you'll get to 45km/h with ease with a 44Nm rear motor but not with a 85Nm mid motor.
I have a panasonic mid engine with 95Nm, souped up with a badass box. It does get me to 44km/h, but the slightest hill and I have to push harder. That doesn't happen with an ST5 (slightly beefier engine but about the same torque). Rear and back engine, can't really compare :) The effort you put in on a mid engine is way more even with that higher torque. That said, I'm faster of the line with my current bike ;-)
its torque directly to the road not through the drivetrain. so its 1:1. if the bike has a mid motor, it will go through the transmission and the torque will even in the easiest gear be more than halved.
No S-E-bike does it... Neither a E-car that replaces a diesel that does 900 km on 45 liters. We still have a lot of work to do. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😄. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
@@OutdoorguruGearReviews What is this nonsense answer? What you even compare? Whats the justifications for that price for the ST3? The frame? The battery? (is even bosch?)
I was thinking about all my friends that went on holiday to ski. I get lot's of coffee pics at a charging station because they need to charge a 30.000 to 70.000 e-car after 350-450 km. I drive in one go 900 km with a 20.000 euro car on 45 liter of diesel. I conclude we are not there yet... I hope for hydrogin. That's all.
If you regularly use an e-bike and still need to check your speed constantly, you can't be helped. Placement is perfect. Who the hell want an extra speedometer on the phone. You use that for navigation and other useful stuff. Completely stupid suggestion. Glad that Stromer does its own thing, only listening to valid points and suggestions.
Hi Hansli, In my mail I have two comments from you. The one I am responding to here is the only one that I see in my UA-cam comment section. Maybe YT does not show the other one because of some words you use. I think the F word. It's not me! I respect your opinion for sure; if you like the display and don't want an other one that's fine with me. In the comment YT does not show - and I will be so kind to take out the F word -: "I don't mind what a bike costs 5K, 10K or 15K"... And that is where you and I are different. I do care. And on a bike the ABS should work no matter what the price is. On the rest of the comment I am not going to respond for reasons I leave to myself. Enjoy the Outdoors and Enjoy Biking! Cheers, Gijs

Well.... they are the first with quite some developments....
Not interested in a rear motor.
Why?
With that price, 150km autonomy should be done with at least 40km/h. Just saying.
That's all.
@Stu Marston Is that a question for me or for Panagiotis?
They flopped in America. Nobody wants as bike that costs as much as a yacht.
I get that ;-). Cheers, Gijs
Hansli, what’s wrong with you?Your choice of words is just out of fucking place!! There’s absolutely no need to become so damn agitated at all for just nothing. Thought that only Germans are that stupid. Jeeezus Christ!🤯
Gjis, your review was fantastic btw!
