PARTING
I pre-parted the sections. I like to do all of the parting first. I think it helps the install process go by more seamlessly. The braided base is a great alternative to the rubber band method when installing crochet hairstyles. The braid minimizes the breakage the rubber can cause on your roots, there is less tension when the hair is installed, and it gives way to an easier takedown process.
THE HAIR
I cut the marley hair in half. I wanted the length of the hairstyle so come from the curly hair instead of having extra long twists. I also think shortening the twists allowed the style to feel lighter on her head. I washed all of the hair before this install. The hair comes rolled into a bundle. You can easily unrill the bundle and pull out a section of the water wave hair.
THE INSTALL
I use a crochet latch hook to install the marley hair. I do not know how to attach extension hair by braiding it in. My grip game is not that strong lol. So this installation technique works for me. I insert the hook through the base of the braid, hook the middle of the marley hair onto the end, close the latch, and pull one half of the marley strand all the way through.
Next, I wrap one half of the marly hair around her natural hair and the rest of the marley hair. I wrap to the end of the braid. Once I get to the end of my braid, I separate the rest of her natural hair and add a strand of the curly hair and begin rope twisting to anchor it in, adding a some more braid gel. I take the longer curly piece out and continue twsting. Once I get to a spot I like, I add another curly strand doing the same thing. I continued doing this until I got to the end of the twist. Once I finished the twist, I went over the twist with scissors to cut off any pieces of the water wave hair that were sticking out from the twist. I added 5 curls per twist. Once all the twists were installed, I did a bit of shaping on the bottom part. I tried to give the hair more a V shape.
PRO-TIP! If you want bigger hair, add more curls to the twists or make the curly pieces thicker. I think adding 5 curls gave this style a very full yet manageable density.

It’s been a little bit over a month and this install is still going strong!! A little spritz and mousse, and I’m brand new. The best part about it is the curly pieces have NOT tangled/matted!!! As you can see in the video, we were watching part one of the new season of Bridgerton ANNND she got me hooked in the Ultimatum South Africa (a hot mess 😭)! P.S I am very serious about keeping this install in for the rest of the year 🤣
